Jesus is the head of the the church and not the church. He is the bedrock of Christians. It is in him, that Christians bud their fate. If there is no Christ, there will be no Christians. Disciplines of Jesus Christ were all Christians. Anyone who abides by Christ's teaching is a Christian. If you read how the word 'Christian ' came into being, you will understand it.
If you say you follows the teaching of Christ, but not a Christian, then that's a height of confusion and a possible drift towards heresy and atheism. I have been there before.

Yes, I am a Christian and I attend church quite regularly.. But I choose what portions of the preachings to take to heart and which part to leave right there on the Church floor.. If God wanted me to he holy, he should have left me to be chilling in Heaven, and not sent me down to earth, and of all of places, Nigeria.

Actually God first created mankind perfectly. We only lost perfection after disobedience. Remember in the beginning, Adam and Eve were perfectly sinless.
They were not to get sick, get frail, toil or suffer or die. Satan was created like Angels Michael, Gabriel and others that have remained faithful to God. Eve disobeyed God first and mumu Adam followed Suite. Of course, the oga pata pata of disobedience long before Adam was and is Satan.

After fasting for 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness, Satan tempted perfect Jesus (akin to Adam and Eve, at least here on earth) but he didn't fail. God did not force obedience on Jesus. He could easily have disobeyed if he wanted to. Close to his arrest and crucifixion, Jesus was afraid because he was in human body that could suffer pain, distress, suffering and death.

Fact is even with perfect creatures like Adam and Eve, God has always given everyone freewill to obey or disobey him. Obey and reap the blessings, disobey and get the punishment.
Even human governments do same. Obey the country's laws and be a good citizen, disobey and get the rap. It's your choice.

You may wonder, if indeed Adam and Eve were truly perfect, why did they still fail unlike Jesus? Well, same reason Satan failed. They wanted to be their own boss and do as they wished. Satan cunningly used it to deceive Eve. Promising her that if only she ate the fruit, she would become wise. Basically telling Eve that God was scamming her and keeping her ignorant.

As for letting you chill in heaven, Satan disobeyed God in heaven. Despite how tough and unforgiving 9ja situation is, there are still ordinary people like airport cleaners, teachers, cab drivers, farmers and others who now and then display uncommon honesty. Returning lost currencies worth millions of Naira to the rightful owners.

We should always reflect on what the scripture we read actually imply. They are much deeper. I know that not everyone has had the privilege to officially study it.
