Hello everyone, my dependent moved to the Uk 2 months ago. Still, it has been challenging to get a document to prove their address...lost two jobs already and couldn't open a bank account. Even when I wanted to add her name to the tenancy agreement, they said they needed a three months pay lip.
They also rejected the Electoral letter confirming the address.......please, what can we do?
Get her to open a Monzo account. The address Monzo ships her card to will most likely be attached to her profile first.

Then, she can get her bank statement once the account is up and running. Her bank statement is an acceptable proof of address in most cases.

Let's know how she gets on.

He should start looking for sponsorship. If they have kids, he can remain on that basis (Right to family life).
I personally don't see any reason to remain in a toxic marriage just because of a visa.
For those who are speculating that the guy is not pulling his weight, could it also be that the guy had a very good job/business back home and was reluctant to come to the UK but only did due to pressure from his spouse? And then probably he is yet to find something similar ro what he left and unwilling to start from the ground? There are countless stories like that that have caused strains in relationships.

That is very possible and that is why people need to think long and hard before embarking on this journey especially those with good job already in Nigeria.

I'm sure this only applies if the children are British citizens, or at the very least fall under the 7 year exception. Otherwise HO/courts would take the view that the children could easily return to their home country if the father wished to continue to enjoy family life with them.
You are right

The way we jump to conclusions on this thread ehn. It's amazing.

Who knows if the man is asking about being arrested because he's worried about what his immigration status would be once the divorce process begins?
Exactly. Unfortunately we are often quick to jump to conclusion.

Honestly! The one surprising me is the β€˜friend’ that came here to be laughing and sharing emojis about the possibility of her friend abusing his wife and/or being incarcerated.

And this is the same thread people want everyone to indirectly make their identities known. So that next time their β€˜friends’ will be using their matters and real life identities to catch cruise in front of the whole world until the wrong eyes put two and two together.

Our interpretation of situations, can never be the same, or else life would be boring.......

The wife said she's not feeling supported in all ways.
He agreed to the divorce. He just wants to know if he'll be deported.

He should look for a category and switch .... student , work and I seen indians apply for family life just to buy time.

Walk into lloyds bank. I don't think they ask for address, her passport and brp is enough. Although the form is filled online

Once you opened the account that bank statement can be proof of address

I don't think anyone jumped to conclusions, but were speculating (along with the OP) -the same way you're speculating above about why the man was worried about being arrested.
Of course they would say that theirs isn’t jumping to conclusion because it’s positive thinking towards the guy. Everyone is speculating, even those making assumptions that the guy left a good job back home. Nobody sabi the full gist so na assume everybody go dey assume and in the midst of all the assumptions, good advise go still come out.

Life is not uptight when you can make fun of what hurt other people feelings.
I blame the person that bring their private matter to places like this so people like you can feast on it and make unnecessary joke out of it..

I wonder ooh brother, some people just enjoy catching cruise with other people stories just in the name of "spicing upthe thread", that's very unfair.

I pity the person that brings such here to seek advise from some that don't have joy in their heart.

Define "Joy in the heart"?
With disagree and agree we comes to conclusion & learning.

S/he who seeks advise must be ready to receive the good/bad/castigations in the process, it will be left for em to choose what's best for em.

Thank you so much for literally speaking my mind.

It looks like the only "speculations" that are allowed are those that make numerous excuses for the man. It was the OP ,who is the man's friend, who said she suspected there might be DV involved. But yet most posters speculating that it is the man who is being oppressed and that "UK happened to him". 🫀 No thought for the wife and what she might be going through. Smh

Regardless of the assumptions,no one has mocked the man. Some salient advice has been given, it's up to him to decide which to roll with.

Apply for family life on what basis though? It sounds like his wife and/or children are not settled in the UK and he does not have long residence to claim private life on.

He needs to be careful. Applications are more readily determined now, and he runs the risk of being found guilty of making vexatious claims which could impact future applications.
