The thing I don't understand is if bantus came from West Africa, how comes west Africa is the only uniquely non-bantu region?

Where did west Africans come from?

Samantha124:
Tell me this, how come Nigerians are not identified as Bantu people?

There are still some Proto-Bantu groups in Nigeria. Tiv, Ekoi, Efik and Ibibio have varying levels of Bantu. And the Igbos have still have a small level of Bantu admixture.

West Africans have different migration patterns. Ancient West Africa was called โ€˜Sudanโ€™. And there were some that expanded from the Mauretania and North West Africa area, after the empire built there collapsed due to flooding. They later built the Ghana empire and kept expanding. And rest migrated in different migration waves - from the present day Sudan/Ethiopia axis.

I believe there was also an indigenous gnome group in West Africa prior to the arrival of these new groups. But archaeologists are still trying to determine what happened to them.

Well, the DA is the opposition party and it could one day turn into the ruling party from the look of things.

The party consists of a lot of white South Africans.
SIRTee15:

In that case, I think the majority in power now who are the Bantus should think of an equitable and effective power sharing formula for the sake of South Africa. The present one isn't working of we are to be honest.

I heard there are rumors of disenfranchisement amongst other ethnic minorities against the black ruling govt and some are demanding a separate state.

The reality is blacks will continue to rule South Africa under present arrangement but they are not doing a good job of it.

Now that apartheid is over and equity is attained, I will advice u people allow the best hands to run that country, not necessarily blacks; be it white, blacks, Asian, coloured or Indians....let them be in charge.
The whole idea that only blacks should rule or govern should be jettisoned for pragmatism.

It will break my soul if South Africa becomes a basket case like other African countries. If South Africa fails, the stigma of low IQ will be hard to erase from the black man's brain.

Wow! Interesting... I didn't know anything about the Bantus coming from Nigeria.

I learned that they came from Congo.

So do the Tiv, Ekoi, Efik, and Ibibio identify as Bantus?

Forget patriotism, South Africa get fine girls abeg.

See fine tall girl with tender skin.
No bleaching
No toothpick legs
No burnt knuckles like PH bolรฉ
No protruded belly as a result of excess goat meat pepper soup and catfish pepper soup coupled with Smirnoff ice and hollandia yoghurt.

Nigerian girls are mostly short like fire hydrant. You hardly see a tall and pretty Nigerian girl.

God bless South African girls for me abeg. See as girl set and fresh like today's bread. kiss kiss kiss

Sometimes I wonder if Africans can redefine our boarders with these ethnic nationality factors taking into consideration as opposed to remaining stock with the map set by the incidence of colonialism.

I think about that too. I was amazed as a student on excursions like 20 years ago when a University professor in Togo was struggling to communicate with us in English, he now asked if we understood Yoruba, and there is a resounding Yes...the man immediately switched to speaking Yoruba...fluent Yoruba. I was shocked.

I later learnt that the old Yoruba kingdom extended to parts of Benin Republic and Togo. It made me think the colonial masters did this on purpose...put together tribes/people that have nothing in common and you diminish their potential for greatness.

I've always known about the Xhosas and the Zulus... I guess both should be the largest tribes in South Africa. By the way, I thought the Zulus are usually pitch black in complexion. Your pictures suggest otherwise.

Meanwhile I notice there might be some language similarities between the tribes... Am I right?
Re: Different South African Tribes by Nobody: 2:48pm On May 09, 2023

No, not Congo. Bantus migrated from Eastern Nigeria and Western Cameroon.

I donโ€™t know what they identify as but their languages fall under Bantoid.

How come we keep seeing only these pics of the Khoisan people on every article and video on the internet.

Please, you gotta show other pics of them. It's not like they don't have cameras where they live.

You can't do the oldest people in the world like that.
