Controversial Nigerian rapper, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has charged lawmakers from the South-East zone in the incoming 10th National Assembly to demand for a referendum for the secession of the region from Nigeria.

He gave the charge in a video message he shared on his Instagram page recently.

He said the Igbo people were in bandage in Nigeria and needed to form their own separate country.

Speed Darlington said, “Igbo National Assembly members, free us from this hell. Stab APC in the back. Show them your real colour.

“Even though APC made you powerful, stab them in the back, show them your real colour. [Biafra] referendum now! Referendum now! Free your people from this hell hole.”

The rapper claimed Igbo people continue to manage instead of the Assembly members to free their people

If the government denies the group's request, the group may not leave without the government's permission.

Secession is a very drastic step. It is not something that a group can do lightly. In order to secede, the group must first be convinced that there is no other way to resolve their grievances. They must also be sure that they have the support of the majority of the population in order to succeed.

Finally, secession is not a quick process. It can take months or even years to complete. There are a lot of steps that must be taken in order to secede from a country. This includes drafting a constitution, setting up a government, and establishing trade relationships with other countries. All of this takes time and effort, and the secessionist group must be prepared to commit to this process.

South Sudan gained independence through referendum on January 9, 2011. The referendum was a result of the 2005 peace treaty between the Sudanese government and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) which ended the Second Sudanese Civil War. The peace treaty called for a referendum on the future of Southern Sudan which would allow the people of Southern Sudan to vote on whether they wanted to become an independent country or remain part of Sudan.

The referendum was certified by the African Union and the United Nations on January 16, 2011 and South Sudan became an independent country on July 9, 2011.

That's the reason we can't allow Igbo men to be the president of this country, they will remain 3td class citizens of this country. All of them are agitating for Biafra including Peter Obi. That's the reason Peter Obi can not call Ipob out for their atrocities in the southeast.
