Singer Seun Kuti was caught on video pushing and slapping a police officer during a confrontation at Third Mainland Bridge.

Though it is unclear what led to the confrontation, but the police officer was calm while being confronted by the singer.

SERIOUS ASSAULT ON POLICE OFFICER: IGP CONDEMNS ACT, ORDERS IMMEDIATE ARREST OF SEUN KUTI

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, CFR has ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to arrest Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, who was captured on video assaulting a police officer in uniform.

The IGP has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.

IGP Usman Alkali Baba assures Nigerians that acts of contempt/disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated while offenders of such hideous crimes will be surely brought to book.

Reacting via his Instastories, Seun alleged that the officer tried to kill him and his family members and that he has proof to back up his claim. He also claimed that the officer has apologized and that he will not be pressing charges against the policeman.



He did not state what led to his faceoff with the officer.

Please arrest him, he should be locked up, nobody is above the law.

He won't dare try such thing outside Nigeria, he's gonna ruin himself and his family reputation

Assaulting a policeman or any law enforcement agent is a serious offence.

Police should quickly arrest him. Things they can't do when they leave the shore of Nigeria. How on earth would someone slap a uniform man? A slap to a uniform man is a slap to all Nigerians. No matter the provocation, a man must be able to control his anger. Too bad of Seun Kuti! He must be made to face the book to serve as deterrent to others like him.

Though Nigerian police men can be frustrating, I think Seun shoulda respected the uniform. That's the government. You don't slap the government. Peace won't come easy afterwards even if you are able to do so. That's why I respect Femi Kuti. He may seem like a coward to some people but he understands the value of peace because he was old enough to have seen everything happened to their father... Seun should be calming down, nothing is going to happen tho. He will be invited, there'll be talks, then pictures and then he will go back home but we shouldn't be slapping our police officers else they slapped us first of course. grin

Also Obidients should be calming down... There was a reason Frank Mbah was not posted to Lagos
