Good day Honda users. I'm using a 2008 Honda Accord for almost 2 years now and the car is burning oil despite using the recommended oil weight which is 5w-20. My question is this. Is there anyone here using the same car and having the same problem that has been able to solve this problem,if yes, then how? My other question is can I keep using the car like that and changing the oil at 3000miles when the maintenance light usually comes up?
maintenance light is 5000miles

Good day conner44 and men wey sabi. I use an Honda accord 07. I barely top my coolant in months, but for the past 2 -3 three weeks, I observed that the coolant in the radiator dries off quickly and I have to top up everyday. There has been no issue of overheating even when I notice that there's no water in the radiator. There's no visible leakage from the radiator nor radiator cap, pleasE what could be wrong
first confirm if it spit it or drink it.

Good day OP please help!!

The under of my Accord 05 was always wet, so I went to change oil seal yesterday. Asides this, I was driving ok. Although it was smoking a little, not too noticeable.

After the mechanic was done changing the seal, there was a loud screeching sound coming from the alternator axis. After a while it stopped, the guy then said my engine was too high. He did some adjustments.

Now, the rpm is less than 1000, it's at 500. The car is vibrating and jerking as if it wants to stop. In fact on the way home, the car went off.

It is now smoking heavily!!! Thick black smoke coming out. The silencer area is now black with soot. I notice the exhaust is coming out with a lot of force now even when in P.

And worse, it guzzled the entire fuel. To illustrate, it took N2,000 fuel from Egbeda to Mangoro!!!

Somebody please help with knowledgeable suggestions I'm distressed right now. I mean, nothing serious was wrong with the car, I only went for oil seal change!
that vibration has affected the rings. Same thing happened tome. After heavy vibration the ring was affected.

Experts in the house, please recommend a Honda expert in Benin city for me. I'm tired of trial and error mechanics.

My car is a 2013 accord bedevilled with something like a seizing/jumping or jerking movement at intervals while accelerating.

Could be that your fuel pump is bad.
Kingstel:
Honda city 09

2nd time I'm experiencing this problem this issue.

It's refusing to start again after driving for about 1 hour.

The battery is relatively new. I tighten the battery terminals 3 days ago when it 1st happen. And now again refusing to start.

Could be bad engine and gear mounts.
Auskyd:
Good evening bosses.

My Honda Accord (thanks to my chairmen here @kingreign, Nurey, Gazzuzz, and other mandem that helped me make the choice. Oga Gazzuz thread on what to check before you buy a car is heaven-sent! ) 2008 started this subtle vibration when it's in drive, and is idle, and this has increased over time. It started after I did general servicing on the legs (bearing, linkage, etc.. my God I spend money and I dey vex 😩😭), changed engine oil and filter, and other servicing which was recommended.

Abeg wetin fit cause am?

Thanks so much.

It's fixed already. Worked on the injector and it's doing well now. Only issue is my idle RPM which is waaayy too high and is making the car guzzle fuel like a mofo.

The electrician worked on the keystarter about 2 weeks ago and it's been better until yesterday it refused to start where I parked in the afternoon not up to 20mins I arrived there. It then responded when I used a stone to hit the keystarter.

I'll also check the fuel pump, thanks so much for your reply.

Good morning bosses, having enjoyed my car for a while without any issues other than servicing since I last fixed it. I recently noticed that my fuel gauge keeps dropping even tho there’s fuel there and my fuel cap needs to be replaced but it felt like there weren’t big issues. As for the fuel gauge, after a while it comes up back.

But I recently scanned my car and I noticed this error code. Please my bosses what does it translate too before I contact my mechanic

The code is related to your evap. As you have pointed out that your filler cap (fuel cap) is bad, you need to first change it before you go on with any other diagnosis as regarding your evap system. If the filler cap is not well tightened, it will trigger that code. When you replace the filler cap to a good one and the problem still persist, you can let me know.
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by markpenk: 8:58pm On May 18, 2023
VTC actuator issues. It's a factory problem common in some 8th and 9th gen accords.

You could either change it --would be a huge pain in the a**-- or just learn to live with it/ignore it. It doesn't/won't affect anything.

Good luck.

Ok

Have a good Technician take out the audio/nav unit from the car, and check for the GPS antenna to ensure it’s not disconnected, not damaged or not in a location where metals or magnets may affect its operation. If need be, relocate it.

I'm experiencing some car issues and would appreciate some assistance. I enjoy DIY work, but I also have a mechanic friend who helps me when he's available.

Firstly, my car has rough idling and occasionally stalls when it rains. It seems like water affects the circuitry due to a previous leak at the top of the windscreen. Although I had the leak fixed, the job wasn't done thoroughly, so I need to return to address the issue.

I've scanned the car, but there are no error codes, and there are no misfires detected.

Secondly, I'm still facing rough idling problems, particularly when I try to reverse, especially on higher ground. The car tends to stall, and I have to press the accelerator forcefully. The nozzles were recently serviced, and the spark plugs are less than three months old.

Additionally, there's a thumping sound coming from the engine bay when the car shifts gears at slow speeds, especially in traffic. Despite replacing the rear engine mount, the issue persists. However, the gear shifting itself seems fine.

As a bonus question, I'd like to know why my car revs high before shifting gears and sometimes lurches forward during the gear change.

I would greatly appreciate recommendations and advice as I plan to meet my friend today for a joint diagnosis.

Car details: Honda Accord 2003, Euro version, car was converted to left hand.

The below screenshot is the mount below the battery. The rubber looks damaged. Can this cause the spontaneous thudding sound when shifting gear?

Yea. That’s your top transmission mount. If it’s damaged your gearbox will be experiencing movements and plays while functioning. You should replace it.

The thumping sound is from a bad mount while the shifting issues arose as a result of dirty or low transmission fluid.

I use the recommended 5w20, I buy the Mobil 1.

Well, the leak is reduced but I still have to replace the oil switch.

How was your oil the problem? Were you using the recommended oil? What product do you use now?

Sorry I'm just seeing this, I actually switched to Mobil 2000, 5w 30 as that is the OEM recommendation and everything stopped immediately the change of oil.

I was using that glorified red oil (visco 2000).

I need help with my 2008 Accord.

Two days back, I noticed my temperature needle was shooting waay above the middle when I turn on my AC.

I parked and checked and realised one of my radiator fan stopped working. Got a roadside rewire who checked and saw that my relay was burnt.

I payed and he got a new one and finished fixing at night. Fan worked and I drove off. A couple of minutes later, I realised my AC was no longer cooling as it used to at minimum level. I have to increase it to the highest before I feel any coolness.

Also, the car felt hard to drive. Like I was forcing it to move. I have to floor the accelerator before it picks. Then at a point, I was in traffic and it was vibrating hard and the car went off.

Tried starting and it kicked but didn't start. Had to pump the accelerator and kept on trying before it started. I turned off the AC and the car went back to its perfect normal way.

Please help. What's the problem?

Check and see if he connects the fan well, your fan is meant to work anti clock not clock wise. Get a nylon and place it on the condenser front when the fan is on and see if the nylon sticks. If it sticks, the fan is not your problem, if it doesn't, get a rewire to revert it back.

Thank you so much. I don't have any shifting issues, car shifts up and down fine.. There's just this occasion high rev when it wants to shift sometimes.

I'll try to replace the transmission mount.

2 months AGO, I replaced the dirty fluid with total MVLV.

There's nothing wrong with it.
It's the suspension design for more stability.
Same with CRV and MDX.
I'm not sure if anything can be done to it unless you want to rework the suspension system.
