TBH, Arteta did a great job.
However, when you're almost there, you have to be there anyway anyhow.

You have to do everything possible to be there. Sadly, he didn't do enough at the required time.

Fkforyou:
Arteta should look himself hard in the mirror and admit that he failed.

As far as I am concerned, this season was a setback. We didn’t hit the target. In fact, we didn’t achieve anything.

No, champions league qualification isn’t an achievement worth celebrating, it’s supposed to be the norm for an elite club. Will a club like Bayern or Madrid celebrate playing in the champions league? Or is it that we are not an elite club or what? Are we just pretending to be an elite club?

The players have to admit to themselves that they lack the spine and character to be champions and they need to work and demand more from themselves.

Saka has been horrible for over a month now.
Gabriel J. Haven’t made any impact on the team.
Odegaard has been on and off, very inconsistent from someone we look up to as our leader.
Xhaka has reverted to being Xhaka. Sluggish, indecisive and one legged.

In all of these, the manager has more of the blame. He needs to get his shit together and know that the fan’s demand more from him and he should demand more from his players. Bench anyone that isn’t adding quality to our game no matter who that person is.

Next season, we deserve at least two trophies from this team. Anybody that can’t give us that should Fvck off and go find another team.

We can’t let Arteta give us another Wenger era of Awwn, we almost achieved this or that.
My dear at the end of the season Arteta will look himself at the mirror and say I tried. The owners will look at the mirror image and hand him a new contract.

CL qualification is not an achievement but it is a target which he met. It's a target because we haven't played it for close to a decade now. That's the point.

Don't let emotions get the better of you, if we had not challenged for the title and may be moved from 6th to finish 4th we would have been happier. But simply because they punched above their weight we suddenly feel that they failed for not winning the league.

Let me post this again, Arsenal this season were just unlucky to have Manchester City. People will point to Leicester but when they won the league it was with less than 80points. Napoli won the SerieA with 82points and still have games to play. Teams like PSG with Messi, Mbappe and Neymar have less than 80points and are topping the French league with 5points, same as Bayern in Germany, Barcelona won the league in Spain with less points than Arsenal. This team tried, they were just unfortunate to have a better team than them at the top.

Am I happy that we lost the league? No. But I am not goiyto rubbish the efforts of people if they actually gave their best shot at it. Finishing second to Man City is by no means a disgrace.

I know this is sarcastic but no body is saying we overachieved. For me it's just the minimum required that they were able to get. Actually it could not be less. So this is not an overachievement and it is not also a failure. It is disappointing but not disgraceful.

This is just it. It's a sad end to a good season. It could have been better but then, no one is happy to finish second in a race when you know first was a possibility.

When I say they are not good, I mean as good as we thought. We had believed they would even beat City. But the game against Brighton showed that apart from the first team which were strong simply because of their tactical approach, the team as in the entire team including the bench aren't that good as envisaged.
We would beat them this second leg?? grin grin

My hope for the league dashed when we drew Southampton and West Ham. Anyone who believe we could beat Man city at Etihad must have that faith that Jesus Christ taught that would move mountain.

I think one of the reasons I'm not very emotional and deeply disappointed is that I know the strength and limitations of this team.
I knew presently, we don't have that "extra" to carry us over the finishing line but we're almost there. Previous years, it would have been very enough but Guardiola have certainly lifted the bar very very high that you'll need that extra to go a long stretch

Next season's recruitment will tell us whether we would really get that extra to push us to the next phase or not.

While the first 11 is good, but the bench is not that good. Saying the team isn't good entirely is you just seeing them through the lens of last week's match and not their overall match this season.

This is the long and short of my thoughts and opinions.

Calling Arteta or the team a failure as if they did a disgraceful something I don't just understand. This is just branding all their efforts in vain or refuse to see the progress just because they punched above their weight.

If it's from rival fans, it's understandable. If It's pouring out your grievances and disappointment, it's understandable.

But trolling your own team for trying to win the ultimate goal but it didn't happen? C'mon!!

The people trolling Arteta are the people who have never liked him. The 90-95 points that Pep has made the minimum benchmark for winning the league is unattainable for even some of the greatest United and Arsenal sides of the past. City's squad has far more quality, depth, and experience than Arsenal's. Pep benches/rests KDB, Haaland, Foden, Grealish, Mahrez, Laporte, Ruben Dias at will and there is no drop in quality, and sometimes he even benches 2,3,4 of them at the same time. Can Arteta try the same?

His first season Arsenal had 56 points. His first full season it increased to 61 points. The next season 69 points. Now it will be greater than 80 points.

90 points no be beans. Arteta tried but he was facing a juggernaut.

Arsenal can make their most die hard fans troll them...I have seen/read lots of fans doing so ...

It's quite disgraceful to lose the league in that manner, it eventually depict the Elephant story of trollers.. I was expecting the team to let City work for it till the last day, but Alas..
.0-3 loss at home in a 3 games to go.

As it is, Many fans would lose confidence in the team in achieving top target prize... But some cool fans would still keep singing " We try we come again next year".

Don not be surprised if Saka, Martineli's and Odegard all respond to big clubs who can help them land big trophies...

And that has been the Arsenal story over the years, Build, almost there, lose key players, recycled pattern again and again.

My brother, though I hoped for it and prayed for it, I knew it was going to be near impossible unless some events overtakes it like a change in formation or a red card or something.

There have been gradual but steady improvements in our first eleven since Arteta joined. This season we took on the big six and came out tops most occasions, unlike before. I saw a team that was no longer afraid to face big teams. I hope this improves further by next season. I hope by next season we can go head to head with Man City in terms of quality of play and also quality of players.

Next season many pundits will begin to consider us as genuine challengers and then we would have no place to hide than to face the title squarely.

It will all begin with an early and successful transfer business in the summer. I am looking forward to addition of the likes of Rice and Caicedo in midfield, Diaby and Vlahovic in attack, and Guehi in defense. If this happens and early, I don't see why we won't give City another run, and this time we will be successful.

The first sentence is Facts. That's why any match arsenal drop point any matchday, he's always come under harsh criticism. If no be bottler or that he's found out, you'll hear "we need to sack him" like say na like so dem dey sack coach.

The bolded is what I'm pointing out also . I remember he did that squad depth thing against Sporting and we know how we were eliminated on penalties(abi we were beaten blue black on penalties). Just benching Partey, Saka and Odegaard and Trossard and we knew how Sporting were playing us off the park. Immediately those guys were in the pitch together, Sporting starting playing deep as most teams played against us this season neither did they have any chances. We fell off with penalties yet Arteta was still branded a failure for bottling Europa forgetting to look at our squad depth. In fact, na that dey I know say our 2nd 11 mostly no be am and I'm just praying for nothing to happen to any core of our first 11. Yet, na same squad depth we expect to carry us over with over 90points. Let's even neglect the experience title pressure brings which Man city players are experienced at but we are just getting to get used to.

Let's ignore the progress we've made this season which can be a foundation for future seasons.
Let's pretend it wasn't right that Arteta prioritized the league over Europa when it was at our advantage like say almost all of us won't do the same in his shoes.

Lol... The way most guys here wailed last season when we lost out on top 4, you'd think we'll never make Top4 again. In fact, if few of us have any power then, dem for sack Arteta forgetting how the team played and that just few quality additional players and we'll get into top 4.
We fail to see the bigger picture sometimes.

The issue is that you're comparing Arsenal of latter Wenger years to this one. Those ones were serial bottlers and most of the time not ambitious except one or two players all due to the mediocrity Wenger allowed. In fact, that 2nd position we took was a fluke cos I know when other big teams sit up, we'll be done for. That team was on a downward slope and the last decades proved so

This arsenal is different. It's on an upward drive that needs few quality additions to become quality challengers again. I wonder how you didn't see it when you were one of those who saw Liverpool's upward drive under Klopp even before he won his first trophy.

The only reason dem Saka and Odegaard would go is if arsenal and Arteta decides to show no ambition.

So far for the bolded, I don't see such cycle repeating itself soon

Gbamsolutely!! I believe it'll improve further. It's amazing that the few Matches we dropped points back to back was prior to Man city. And it happened twice. And both times we dropped out of the top spot. Maybe coincidence, maybe pressure.. I don't know but I believe the boys will be stronger next season
I would be very disappointed if it repeats itself next season or subsequent seasons but not this season as we aren't even at our peak yet.

Lol the guy no check well well.

I don’t think people understand the level of focus and quality it takes to compete with this City squad. If Champions League was a true round robin league with no knockout stage City would have won multiple.

Riyad Mahrez will lose small form and Pep will bench him for nearly a month going with Foden and Grealish. Immediately Grealish loses form he too goes to the bench and you have Foden and Silva. By that time Mahrez is back on form.
It is even worse in central defence. Laporte and Dias will be missing (sometimes for weeks). and Stones and Akanji will keep things ticking along.

Meanwhile Arteta had to play Saka and Martinelli come rain or sunshine. Saliba went down and the defence went kaput.

This Arsenal side is one of the youngest (if not the youngest) in the league and they played the best football an Arsenal side has played in over a decade. What the club now needs to do is back the manager so that when Saka hits a poor patch someone equally good can come in. The same for Odegaard, the central defence. Rotate players, keep them fresh, substitute early so they get some rest. They also need to get a prolific striker.

There is no doubt in my own mind that Adete is on the right track. Problem is that he (and all other managers in the league) are facing an apex predator in this City side.

Those attacking Arteta would have sung a different song if those loses were earlier in the season and our winning run was towards this end of the season where we still managed to finish second with over 80points.

They would have ordered a statue for him.

But because it happened the other way, they feel it is bottling. How do you bottle something that you never had before?

Arsenal were never favourites for top four by almost all bookmakers. So how did we bottle something that we were not given the chance?

Let me help calm your insecurities…

Last season the goal was to get back to Europe, the Europa league particularly. However, we had a good chance to make it into the UCL but we blew it and many of us were disappointed.

The goal this season is to make the top 4 and return to the UCL. The owners have backed Arteta with good investment to help achieve this goal. The battle for top 4 is going to be tough as always, consequently, every victory is important.
