Whenever a Nigerian soldier is maltreating civilians it gives them orgasmic joy...

That's why I don't keep naija soldiers both male and female close as my friends

This is what happens when a country's military does not know its responsibility.
The primary responsibility of every armed force is to protect the citizens of their country, not brutalize them at every opportunity.

Joining the military has moved from the position of disdain to prestige since a new class of rulers and looters has been created at the top.

If Nigerians are so desperate to join the ruling class, they would do anything including risking their lives at home and abroad for printed money.

Self pride and morals have gone out the window.

There is something fundamentally wrong with our security architecture in this country. All of em needs reset asap. Most uniform men lack the O.T. they derive joy in punishing their fellow man.

I think it was deliberately designed like that so they can always turn soldiers against civilians and then use the soldiers anyhow.

Hope you too no chop koboko?

I have seen online and witnessed few outside the country Nigeria.

You see the foreigners obeys simple instructions and remain more civil.

I don't why our own in this Nation different. You will some on the queue with number 30 and he/she wanted to know what is happening with number 5 person on the queue.

Besides, other immoral values being displayed like showoff, notice me and other vices.

I am not in support of keeping relatives and well-wishers on the queue for long period of time and flogging them. However, some relatives and well-wishers are there earlier before the scheduled time due to other people experience they may have experienced in the subsequent events...

I see some comments trying hard to justify these inhumane acts at an event of celebration. Onedevoid of any need for high security clearance. Nigerians are wired to justify crap in the name of knowing it or that's how it is, accept it.

For starters, the pictures shows how disorganized they are at the entrance. 2ndly, they didn't plan for that crowd and should have improvised. 3rdly, if they stopped admitting people by 1030. They should have simply closed the access and do what should be done in a humane yet organized way.

I guess they totally believe the "Nigerians no dey hear word" mantra.

That is the reflection of how the non commission officers are being treated, the difference is incomparable if you were to attend the POP of a commission officer in NDA.
Or should I say the reflection of our society were the rich will like to differentiate the kind of road, the type of clothing, the kind of medical treatment they all get.

Most of the Nigeria Military rank and file personnel are WALKING MADMEN. Their mental health is in shambles.Hence you see them deriving joy in maltreating and dehumanizing their fellow Nigerians ( their salaries is footed by our hard-earned money via tax).
It is pertinent to note that we have few good ones among them, they are the real soldiers , not the ones who are 'cultists' in uniform(cultists in this context because of their oppressive idiosyncrasies).

So I attended the recent POP for soldiers (84 Regular Intake) at the Depot Barracks in Zaria last Saturday and what I saw actually left me traumatised.

First, the guests were made to queue from 4am till up to 12:30pm, despite the fact that they stopped allowing guests in since 10am.
Secondly, they were flogging the visitors for not maintaining a straight queue.

By visitors, I mean parents and family members of the new soldiers o. There was a male & female queue, occasionally they'd just say the queue isn't straight and dash into them with whips.

Old people carrying food & drinks for the ceremony will run and scatter here and there with foods pouring away everywhere, yet gather again with hope of getting in to see their loved ones.

They claimed the event is open, yet they suffer people that came just for their own amusements and entertainment. Almajiris were robbing people on the queues and they didn't bother.

Instead they're exchanging whips and descending on old people & friends of their colleagues. Even the female soldiers joined in and they're just having fun while at it.

A woman lost her baby. She was backing the baby and the baby died due to the pressing & stampede when soldiers were flogging. The people of Zaria were already used to it.

Most businesses around PZ area of Zaria didnt bother opening that day. Last year they claimed a guy died too in the process of flogging. Apparently its a regular thing and it never got to the media. I know only officers have value in the army & soldiers are treated like pawns but to see the parents of soldiers treated like that was traumatic & heartbreaking.

I didn't see whom I went to celebrate with. Some of us that came from outside the state and experienced the culture shock too didn't bother humiliate ourselves by joining the queue and we went back jejely.

For anyone that's attended a military POP, is it always like that for soldiers or Zaria's case is just unnecessarily brutal? I'd like to know please.
Navy is totally different when it comes to Civil Military Relationship. I am a Naval Officer and I'm speaking out of experience. So, don't generalize the senerio cos it is not applicable to the Nigerian Navy. Anyone that has witnessed Nigerian Navy POP can testify to that. There is always free movement within the base cos you will be searched at the point of entry, there is no restrictions to movement, no time limitation, no harassment of any kind.
