Dude cast UK japa route via Students Visa for potential japa geng. He exposed it on BBC o. He said its actually ain't about studies but to japa from Nigeria for greener pasture.

Mumu even claimed to be amongst Agents facilitating it.

Okorocha did well with his own interview.

God not give us friends or family members like this guy.

I like how Emeka asked

You give person visa
You said he can come with his family
You still came back to cry because of your own policy

How is it the person's fault?

The President of REIF, however, noted that it was discovered that the Rivers State Government and the local governments where the refineries were to be located, Okrika and Eleme made huge demands from Dangote Group, which led them to move the refineries to Lagos.

“The Dangote refinery was to be situated in Rivers State and later they made a U-turn and went to Lagos, and we were very miffed by the whole approach.

“We wrote a couple of letters to the management of the Dangote group. “We went as far as writing to the Federal Government.

“When they called for a meeting with us, we went for that meeting. It was discovered that the investment that was meant to be situated in Rivers State, precisely Okrika and Eleme Local Government Areas, they got preliminary land acquisition and agreement and perfected all that.

“But the amount of pushback and demands that were from the state government at that time, obviously, left them with no other option but to go and situate the business at a location where they were welcomed.”

Bobmanuel said the Rivers State Government, local governments and communities need to understand how to negotiate with business owners to attract businesses.

“This brings us back to what we at the Investors’ Forum have always talked about. We’ve always felt the Rivers State Government, the local governments and the communities need to understand the language of businesses.

“You can only imagine the amount of impact the refinery is going to have on the IGR of Lagos State. Imagine if that investment was situated in Rivers State”.

He said the incoming government needs to sit up and see the importance of private participation in governance in the state.

I saw a video where Fashola was appealing to the community where the refinery would be situated. In fact, he said if they wanted to play hardball they would take it to Badagry.

Most of our leaders and followers, lack foresight and no patience. They prefer immediate gains to everlasting ones. 😄

I wish I can share some internal mails here. These guys are so bold ehn. Even if you go to the police station to report, they will tell you to go and sort out your issues with them. One time I took my children to school, community boys locked the school gate and all of us were stranded outside. I've never seen anything like this till I came to Rivers State

The only time they keep it in check is if the project belongs to the state government. All of them dey fear Wike. Even at that, some of the contracts like supply of sand must be awarded to leaders of the community or even Wike will not be able to help the contractors.

these things goes a long way to show the level of illiteracy in such community that these actions are prevalent..

Some communities goes as far as tasking road 🛣️ contractors .. to show you the level of unemployment, illiteracy and idiocyncracy.

When everyone has tangible things going on for them, they would have lesser time to be doing all these rubbish things..

I still feel that most of our community leaders have failed woefully in curbing these kind of stone 🪨 aged scenarios.. or will I say, they re even part and parcel of the menaces..

Someone wants to bring investment to your community and you re tasking him to death ☠️, isn't that foolishness?

That's the problem right there. If you can sit down all day tasking contractors and making easy money, why will you bother looking for anything tangible to do?

The reality is there will be no new investors in the Niger delta. The culture of taxing, threatening, vandalising and suing to court for environmental damages some of which are due to their own actions mean only local content will invest. And local content na team. chop alone. No multiplier effect whatsoever.

Yes, it is legal immigration, but when you have a family of 7(5 kids, 2 parents) anchoring on a single university admission place for example, you cannot expect the country not to take notice.

It might have slipped the mind of some people, but the UK literally voted to leave the EU, primarily as a means to curb immigration from continental Europe.

At this point, I will like to point out that since 2018, the UK has had 3 Home Secretaries(responsible for managing immigration amongst other things), all of whom have been Indian. I would also like to point out that our Prime Minister is Indian, and although we don't have a first lady, if we did she would be Indian as well, as Rishi Sunak's wife is NOT a British Citizen.

So, the UK is not completely anti-immigration. I would argue that class and economic background underpin more of the discriminatory practices here than Race, and so the issue of immigration blockers isn't necessarily about Nigerians..... it's about the calibre of Nigerians coming here. The UK wants to poach 'the best and the brightest', not really future care workers. This nuance is often lost during conversations at the intersection of racial bias and immigration control - it's why I ALWAYS point to the Indians. These niggas are represented at the highest echelon of decision-making in this country.

The daughter of India's 3rd wealthiest tech billionaire lives in Number 10 downing street with an Indian passport. This point cannot be overstated. My view is that I support all japa artists provided they have a skillset in demand and resources to offer. If you're coming to do care work whilst bringing your wife, 4 kids, and mother-in-law, I still support you in principle, but I won't shed a tear if the bouncers don't let you in.

I also cannot overstate this other point - Keir Starmer, the current head of the centre-left Labour party, the party that black people vote for, the party that is typically pro-immigration....currently thinks the right-leaning Tory Party is TOO SOFT on immigration. That's additional nuance for this discussion.

Eket-Ibeno Land Dispute: Akwa Ibom Govt Calls For Peaceful Resolution To Crisis

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N39bjFjQ3ik

January 2022
The Akwa Ibom State government has expressed disappointment with some communities in the state to writing letters to investors and issuing all manners of threats against them.

According to the state government, the struggle between Ibeno and Iket local government areas over the ownership of the Stubb’s Creeks Reserves said to have been acquired for the construction of a refinery by BUA Petrochemical company is calculated to scare away investors in the state.

The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Ini Ememobong, stated this on Thursday in Uyo while speaking with journalists.

He said the project located in the Ibeno Local Government Area would add value to the economy of the state, adding that the BUA Petrochemical “is coming with a road project that will open up the coastal areas of the state”.

The bolded is where you lost me. From what I gathered, Brits do not like care work and family ties are not as strong in the UK as it is in say Nigeria.

Someone has to do it. So if getting the immigration numbers up is what it takes to ensure the frail and elderly are taken care of, I'm not seeing anything wrong with it.

Besides, these people are not entitled to any benefit and are not putting pressure on government resources, they and their dependants still work and pay tax like every other person. What exactly is the UK losing here? What am I missing?

It's the same rationale behind trump's wall, and why nobody want's bambialla or herdsmen form Niger in Lagos.

Any government that allows the foreign poor to come an contend with homegrown poor for resources and access to job will face problems at the ballot box - its that simple.

That's why I took the time to paint a picture of immigrants and second generation immigrants running the country of their colonial masters. It's why I also discussed how labour is criticizing a conservative government for being soft on immigration.

I appreciate that from the outside looking in, you might not see it. It is what it is.

A transmission tower is designed to last forever. most of these towers were built 10 to 20 years ago. their design [angle iron, not pipe) ensures they will not rust.

this is some hustlers who have found that the towers are a source of fast moving spare parts

That is why its important to always look at things from both sides of the prism. In the case of immigration look at it from those immigrating and from those accepting immigrants

As much as Fulani are hated, every state will want, create space for 1m Dangotes even if they have to chase away the original indigenes while 5 poor Abubakar is too much sef
Every human, every community, every country every society are trying to make things better for themselves

We all want visitors who can immediately upgrade our standing. As a family, you will be eager to open your door to visitors who are richer and bringing resources while frown at those who are poorer and hoping to take from you, your parents will encourage your friends who are brilliant to visit you at home and frown at the duller ones

Trump for example mainly hate poor people, He talks down moslems but the Saudi royals are his best friends because they are rich Moslems, he talks down Africans but Ogunlesi a rich African is in his inner caucus

There is an immigration pathway in US that is guaranteed, Its called EB5, If you can invest $1M you are guaranteed a green card. Govt will even meet you at airport with red carpet while an immigrant from the same country with only his backpack will be hounded by police dogs at the border
Canada for example takes mainly people with higher degrees, who have almost perfect English skills, have at least 5yrs work experience in a desirable field plus have the money to settle down. Basically those that are ready to contribute at a higher level to their society not those looking to start from the bottom and taking from Canada

If a UK man who is against immigrant hears that Otedola is bringing 10M Pounds to invest in UK, they will roll out drums to welcome him

Money/Economic standing solves most things in this world

If a UK man who is against immigrant hears that Otedola is bringing 10M Pounds to invest in UK, they will roll out drums to welcome him

Money/Economic standing solves most things in this world
The flip side is among those poor are those who just need an opportunity to grow and thrive in a society that rewards hard work . Eg George Soros. (double trigger cheesy) Man was a poor refugee if I recall.

I'm firmly pro-japa, but I have to say that Nigerians don't seem to understand how this system works.

That's additional nuance for this discussion.
grin grin grin grin

If the UK wants to poach the best and brightest, they've been going about it wrongly sha, the US seems to have got that best and brightest poaching on lock for the longest, they only need to borrow a leaf from them...maybe the UK isn't as attractive for migration as say the US, and that's why they've been going about it the way they have.

Could also be argued that they had a future care worker quota to fill and now they've filled it think it's time to shut the door on immigration cheesy
