This is impressive. I look forward to favorable performance data so that the pilot phase can proceed to full deployment and the planned assembly plants in Nigeria.

Each of these Yutong electric buses has the ability to travel 280-kilometers at full charge

Travel distance far exceeds an average daily usage of 200-kilometers from existing diesel-powered BRTs.

The Lagos State Government through the Lagos Bus Service Limited (LBSL) has officially launched the revolutionary proof-of-concept phase of the Electric Vehicle (EV) mass transit buses for passenger operations in the State.

According to the Lagos State Government, each of these electric buses has the ability to travel 280km at full charge, which far exceeds an average daily usage of 200-kilometers from existing diesel-powered BRTs.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had on April 30th announced the arrival of the first set of Yutong electric buses for the state’s mass transit scheme as part of the State Government’s increased effort to modernise every sector of Lagos.

Taken to his Instagram page on Sunday to share pictures of the Electric buses, Sanwo-Olu also revealed that the State Government shall be running a pilot scheme over the next few months.

“I am excited to announce the first set of electric buses in the Lagos Mass transit master plan as part of our increased effort to modernise every sector of Lagos. Thanks to our partnership with @Oando_PLC, Lagosians can expect a cleaner and greener public transportation system.”

“With the ability to travel 280km at full charge, taking into account our unique travel times in Lagos, our electric buses are a game-changer. With an average daily usage of 200km by existing BRTs, there is no need to fear that the buses can stop on the road.”

THIS IS A CLASSICAL WHITE ELEPHANT PROJECT..

PUTTING THE CART BEFORE THE HORSE
.
HIGHLY UNSUSTAINABLE... ATTENTION SEEKING.

ORDINARY UGANDA HAS ELECTRIC VEHICLE ASSEMBLY PLANT.

WE IMPORTED AT INFLATED PRICE AND DECIDED TO SHOW OFF..

THIS IS THE HEIGHT OF DESPERATION

Hope it will start working?

Or will it end up like the Blue Line Rail that Buhari commissioned since December but not a single Lagosian has been conveyed in it since after the inauguration?

Hope there's multiple heads USB phone chargers inside the bus because that's all I'm interested in.
Not when I mistakenly forget my phone charger and enter the bus then I won't see any means to charge my phone

Yes.gauge is there.economically wise...do u think you should be filling up your tank to the brim everyday cos of traffic?.. And you can't compare fuel combustion rate to battery discharge rate...

Electric car batteries barely run down when it's on a stand still. The it consumes a lot more when it is moving. It is even more conservative in a stand still than fuel.

Pele Electromechanical Power Instrumentation and Control Engineer. Like as if you're more intelligent than the person who conceive the idea, take it to LSG for consideration, LSG engaging Consultants and now implementation and commissioning.
So they must have missed the part of how the Electric buses wiould be recharge.
