One of the mistakes I made during my undergraduates is that I dedicated 100% of my time to reading and academic activities.
Thank God I was able to correct everything during my masters when I dedicated 90% of my time to flexing, socialising and networking.
Knowing people can get you access even with low grades where first class is being rejected.

I made same mistake and I'm trying to rectify that.

I use to work for another company at Ajah, I go to the office once in a week from thr mainland and it's not easy. My salary is 200k and I don't really like the work environment, I am tired of the job and this new job is not far from my house, its in Ikeja. My girlfriend whom I have known since 2011 when I was doing my I.T (WE dated then broke up, she came back last year January) connected me with one of her friends that I use to know back then. This her friend is married to the nephew of the CEO of this company and she works there herself.

She got my CV, 3 months ago, waited for a vacancy and made sure that it was not advertised. See, the interview, na only me dey there, the job was kept for me. It was not even an interview, it was a conversation and they were just telling me about the company, no stress. That's the power of knowing somebody, this will not be possible i didn't get a strong referral.

This morning I got my appointment letter. I asked them to give me 1 month to tidy up my account in this current office.
Try and build connections, know somebody that knows somebody that knows somebody. Ask for referrals, it's going to make the whole job hunt easier.

You're very correct. This is the strategy alot of graduates don't know and that has kept large number of them joblessness. They ignore people credibility. I remember getting a job I did not apply here in Abuja in one company, actually it's not get job in that company probably the company only employ 2 or 3 gradutes every year despite receiving alot of cvs every year. Actually when I went for the interview after the recommendation my recommender actually provided me ID to be able to pass through some protocols seriously before I did the interview. The interview was just a chatty one (as in me and the manager were gisting about my relationship and his) although the Manager has gone through my CV prior to the interview.
I would also advise graduates to invest more effort in creating relationship with people, it goes along way.

I beg to differ. I work in a multinational and I can loudly say to your hearing that I didn't know nobody to land the job. God came through for me.

In this life God moves in mysterious ways when he wants to bless a man, either he uses familiar people or total strangers. The latter is usually the case.

The OP is ascribing the glory due to God to another man. God used someone familiar to upgrade him, after all there are those who know connected people but yet they are still struggling.

So why didn't God use those pple who knows connected pple to get a job?
And why haven't God use total strangers to get other pple job?

This is the bane of this country, man know man, this ends up putting dullars in positions that matters, that's why nothing works in this country, especially anything involving the govt.
