That's politics for you. GEJ was a weak leader, and the opposition even though knew subsidy had to go used it against him.

Now you all know that Tinubu is extremely intelligent. He is the master of the game called Nigerian politics.

His intelligence was also used in splitting PDP into 3 (divide and conquer) just before the elections). Reno once said Tinubu has the face of a slow person, but he is extremely intelligent.

Shame on you.
Youths like you were termed lazy by Buhari.

“Who is subsidizing who?” Now, Nigeria have so much accumulated humongous debts from monies embezzled under his government disguised as paying subsidy under his watch.

"How Buhari spent N8trn on ‘non-existent’ petrol subsidies"
https://www.vanguardngr.com/2023/05/how-buhari-spent-n8trn-on-non-existent-petrol-subsidies/

Then one is tempted to ask what was Buhari, Tinubu, and co thinking in 2014 when they organised Ojota and Abuja "occupy/save Nigeria" protests based on lies and propaganda to demonise a government that meant Nigeria well on this same issue? Blood wicked hypocrites
Bloody hypocrites who organised and fueled the infamous recent anti-subsidy Removal protest--- Occupy Nigeria protest of 2012 . Superceded later only by End Sars. Protest.Chai. dem Carry coffin ⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️ for Jonathan .

jonathan must go back to Otueke Bayelsa with his Pro subsidy removal policies and leave Aso Rock for Better president who knows better to pilot the affairs of the nation Nigeria. APC---CHANGE!!!!!!!!

Now, 2 of the hypocrites Buhari & Tinubu who scammed gullible nigerians into presidency, especially Buhari who rode on the wave of 2012 into Presudency, are now the Evangelists generals of subsidy removal.

it is very easy to look back now, with the benefit of hindsight and say all who protested in 2011 were wrong and dishonest, but let's just take a moment and reflect on that event.
I still maintain that while removal of fuel subsidy was economically desirable, the way the GEJ administration tried to go about it, was very insensitive. To remove fuel subsidy in the middle of the Christmas celebrations was an immoral action. We all know the expenses people incur at the end of year, how could they think that was a morally right thing to do?
Of course the opposition seized on it and lead the protests, that's what oppositions do. The ultimate responsibility for that sad event lies with GEJ and his advisors.
Just to be clear, I am in no way shape or form an APC supporter, I think they are a cancer on the Nigerian state, but that does not mean we should not tell the truth at all times

God Bless you, Sir!👍

That February 2012, Many Nigerians were Struggling Financially and Jonathan's Timing was Wrong.
Nigerians were right to go on that Occupy Nigeria Protest.🙂

Jonathan was just Weak as a Leader and he was a CHRISTIAN SS President. sad

let PDP others do the opposing now abi them tie their hands or legs instead they're in Court chasing shadows... How many years GEJ Lost and move on some pple like hundeyin can move on that's why they thought Obi can win president with small LP... When the only vehicle to defeat APC is PDP

If it were a mistake then, it's understandable, the anger here is that it was all intentional, so the question becomes why now instead of then? It's not everyone that wants to be taken for a fool, there are things you don't let go like that, if you don't learn from your mistakes, you repeat then again, and if you let people get away with certain things, they do it again And again. If these people don't accept that they misled people intentionally that time and take responsibility, what will it look like?
I know that there are people who see the CHAINS AND SHACKLES on their hands and legs as ornaments of Gold and diamond, they should not want everyone else to see things the way they do

Because Tinubu, like all Nigerian politicians, wanted to get into power.

It is an old trick most politicians use. Align yourself with a popular agitation/anger, make use of a crisis....and it will pay off long term.

That is why Buhari and Tinubu joined the protests, and made themselves seen. They were playing the long game.

Politics is a game. Winners know how to play it well. Even if it means using Machiavellian methods.
tell them Sir.. instead of wailing opposition from PDP LP etc unite and start keeping tinubu APC in check before 2027 but some gullible obidients think obi can be president with elupee

besides his 6 years tenure was filled with corruption and insecurities, what nigerians never saw before.....i would say GEJ was actually the root cause of where we are now.
Gej had all the apparatuses to dismantle what...

God made him not to so we can experience the messiah's Nigerians wanted.

You people should understand that it was PDP led federal government that introduced subsidy, People were saying that why did they introduced subsidy in the first place,so a Jonathan or any president under PDP will have a problem trying to remove subsidy while same cannot be said of an APC led government.

Subsidy was introduced in 1973 , by the Gowon administration.

At the time, the OPEC embargo due to the Yom Kippur war was in force, and that meant higher prices for crude, and higher prices for petrol.

The government then brought in subsidy...and it has been there since until now. Attempts to remove it totally were first moved in the late 1980's but were always resisted by Nigerians.

The way in which almost everyone now claims they supported subsidy removal in 2012, one begins to wonder who all those people were who protested all over Nigeria in 2012; even Flavour released a song in protest then. But revisionist have somehow convinced us it was APC that organised protests in 2012. When in history have NIgerians ever embraced fuel price increase?
