Oga welder!

Reason my future man must have more than 4 businesses that are bringing in millions every month. I can’t settle for a welder. It’s not my portion!!!

May God help you struggling men.

You're just a local champion lady who has the mentality of a little child in nursery or secondary school which the only profitable profession/career they know are doctor, lawyer, banker, pilot, engineer grin grin grin

Do you know what welding profession is? or you think welding is all about road side welding you see?
Even the road side welder that collects contracts to weld doors and windows for a big 3 storey building and co, do you know what the person stand to gain? My former director's cousin got a welding contract for a new site then, he bought a land and did wedding with just a contract of 2 months.

So, STFU local woman. Argon welders in the oil and gas sector earn between 500k-1m monthly for small scale contract

Handiwork is oil money if you are good and get some nice connections.

I too regretted then that I don’t have any hand skill when I first moved outside Nigeria.
All the Nigerians guys that are doing handiwork from painting to track drivers, in Libya then made massive money.
It then I rushed to learn how to repair Desktops and Laptops ooh, I even destroyed my laptop in the process.

One of my friend, who made to Germany goes to people house and barber them, he said he made extra 2K every month during barber as side hustle.

2K as in 2000 naira or 2K in euros because it no clear me

I know a shoe maker around your age who left him job to become a carpenter, first he started by helping them as arrand boy with planks and slates, Omo this man is so good now that he's the number one goto guy in my area, he didn't learn the job, he also helped me with my house roofing, no single leak.

I hope my story will motivate someone to take charge of their life.
I lost my job last year July, and so a friend of mine introduce me to a poultry farm where I am earning 22k per month.

A man with wife and two kids o, my wife was not happy with the job even though she has been supportive in her own little way. And then, she suggested that I should learn handwork, and so I decided to learn welder.

On getting to the man, he told me I will spend 2 years o, I will pay 70k to learn from him. Me way I no get even 20k, I begged him to collect 50k and he agreed.

Then he asked me to make part payment of 30k. I went home and told my wife, and then she gave me 20k to give to the man. I gave the man 20k and he collected it, to my greatest surprise within 2 months I started doing the welding job perfectly.

On my own, I have paid up the remaining 30k with small small repairs job he allowed me to be doing for people. And by God's grace, I have started saving up for my tools.

I really thank my wife for the advice and the welder too. The man has been a tremendous blessing to me in many way. He even told me yesterday that with the look of things I may be free from him in 2 months time except I decided to still remain with him for a while.

Please take charge of your life and stop depending on people for survival.
YOU ARE BLESSED WITH A WIFE SIR. HELP ME SAY THANK YOU TO HER.

No. I didn't insinuate that.

But if he had the passion to learn the ropes of that business, he could have figured out a way to save up first or raise at least a 100K to begin his own poultry. Trust me, it is very possible, even with Nigeria's hard economy today.

I clearly understand. To set up an economically family sustaining poultry business with 100k will not go far, no matter the level of passion. Self sustaining poultry businesses are capital intensive and dont yield fruits immediately, and are as well very delicate venture.

The op clearly took the path of least resistance with his choice. It was a matter of survival first. Welders are hardly hungry in nigeria.

if my future man has 4 businesses that are bringing millions, I can also support him in running one or two of them.

And that would also make me a millionaire.

Shut up!

Why don't you set up the 4 businesses yourself and start earning millions? Why waiting for a man to survive and depend on? What kind of p.arasite and l.iability are you?

Why can't you see up the business and support yourself? F.ool !

Olosho no be work. Try and look for work and be useful to yourself

Pls, in all true, I won't advise anyone with to go into poultry.
Despite how essential their services are( YES!! Shortage of poultry produce can lead to food crises); bird farmers are left to be bleeped by the hard market prices.
In other climes- even in West African countries, poultry farmers get serious subsidies due to value of their products in a country; but not here.

I swear down right now i want to learn welding and metal forging..

There is no end to learning and that mindset in Nigeria that a graduate should not get his hands dirty is what leads to stealing..

Enjoy your new and useful knowledge sir... i think i will do the same sef although I would prefer a more formal metalwork training
Guy please do, I was sacked twice for no reason from two different companies over sins committed by superiors.
Since then, I decided never to work for anyone again and even my children will not try it. Right now, I'm doing a dirty and honest job for myself and I am happy that I can control my fate and not leaving it in the hands of others.
Coz the emotional pain no be here

If only our education system will focus more on skill acquisition than this theory-based that we are practicing now. We have to bring back our technical schools, convert some of these contemporary secondary schools to technical schools and even build new ones. This is the way to go. What says you?

Wrong move.

You have opportunity to learn the poultry business while getting paid on it, but you choose to pay just to learn local welding.

I know some wealthy poultry business owners, I am yet to see a wealthy local welder in Nigeria.
You see what your mind wants you to see.
