Arabic numerals were invented by mathematicians in India. Persian and Arabic mathematicians called them "Hindu numerals". Later they came to be called "Arabic numerals" in Europe because they were introduced to the West by Arab merchants.

If you had said Fulani, would have partly agreed with you, but you see Hausas they are indigenous to west Africa, they started as Hausa Bakwai and zazzau.

You can find indigenous Hausas in almost all the west Africa country and some parts of East Africa.

I think it has to do with their language and work ethic. Asian language and their insane work ethic gives them an advantage. There is a chapter about this in the book outlier.
