Sermwell: You’re speaking out of pain seems you’re part of the people benefiting from the sham subsidy mind your business let FG finish with their plan the end will justify the means no need to throw insults . I Remember when fashola dismantled oshodi he was heavily criticized people prayed for BAT to come back because of what Fash did but right now same people are praising fashola and will fight you if you compare fashola to BAT based on performance. When Obi some people’s messiah increased ANSU school fees over 200% protest was made Obi told them education is not made for the poor that’s how it ended but today igbariam pay high but they don’t go on strike who’s criticizing Obi today in Anambra regarding ANSU one thing I notice about Nigerians they use emotions to play everything if it was their preferred candidate that made this policy they’ll support it . 2 Likes |

anonymous1759: Issue is in Nigeria there is no singular policy decision a government can take that won’t attract criticism no matter how reasonable or well intentioned it is. There tends to be a small proportion of highly influential people who stand to lose and will push back. |

Tinubu already shows slow response to citizen plights which buhari government was known for. That why why call him buhari promax. The inflation that will follow tinubu government will be worst times 10 than than of buhari. Even buhari himself said Nigeria will miss him. It was not a mere talk or child play. And that's why will call this government from frying pan to fire |

Re: Journalists Threaten Withdrawal Of Service Over Fuel Subsidy Removal by smileyoo: 12:21pm On Jun 04, 2023 |
Sermwell:exactly. what ever money derived from subsidy removal, will still be looted by these our greedy political elites, and no huge amounts will be too much for them to loot. I wish nigerians can realize this. subsidy on its own is not a bad idea, but the inherent corruption in its application, by the political elites is the problem. likewise when you remove subsidy, to save more funds for other national developments, the same looting class will still be there to loot the funds and nigerians could be back to square one, without any benefits. Tinubu's govt , ought to checkmate corruption , before subsidy removal, or else it will just be like exchanging one problem with another problems. #kill corruption now. 1 Like |

Metrix147: Good for them. Who needs journalists. News they cannot report but rather advertorial for hire collecting envelopes. Investigative journalism is dead in this country, but rather seeking to work for the highest bidder. Let them not come back from strike permanently. Citizenship reporting like the Nairaland and the blogs are enough to get an unbiased and non opinionated news and reporting |

The President should've started his govt with him and his vp reducing their salaries and allowances. Then by doing so he'll be seen as leader leading by example and not just come few hrs and remove subsidy that Buhari couldn't remove in his 8yrs |

Sermwell: Lol. It's a start. You still have partial monopoly that's why you think you can choke people. You must be a subsidy beneficiary for it to pain you like this. Oga sell the fuel 2k/ l someone will come and sell 1k7 another 1k5 last last the price would settle.thats market forces. Govt hand no dey that one. If you insist in 2k you'll drink your fuel or it evaporates wherever you stored it. Remember Remember Nitel was like unreachable Mtn and econet became the new son of the soil. Glo scattered their plans. Now phones and sums full everywhere. All it takes is time. 1 Like 1 Share |

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Saturday said it would withdraw its services if the Federal Government fails to reverse its decision to stop fuel subsidy. I find it very amusing that NUJ said that it would withdraw its service if the government fails to reverse its decision on fuel subsidy removal. The question a reasonable person would ask is: "What service is NUJ providing." This is a moribund organization that lacks integrity, and principle and is of NO value to the citizenry. It's a shame that a profession that is supposed to be the mouthpiece and the conscience of any society without regard to any threats or assuagement from the government to do its bidding has dropped the ball and fallen flat on its face. So, in my opinion, there are NO journalists in Nigeria. All you have is a bunch of dido heads that are constantly mouthing off the government's narratives. They are too scared to carry out their responsibilities as expected. 2 Likes |
