It is very volatile with high auto ignition temperature (540°C) and has very narrow flammability range of 5 to 15%.

Negligence regarding outdated or defective CNG tanks can lead to powerful explosions, serious injuries, and in the worst-case scenario, avoidable fatalities.
Although they can last up to 15years, professional inspection is recommended every three years or every 36,000 miles, whichever comes first

https://thonbeck.com/dangers-of-compressed-natural-gas/#:~:text=Compressed

So my question was about those defective and possibly substandard cylinders. With the rapid rush for people to switch to CNG, there surely will be shady dealers who will capitalize to bring in "Chinese" cylinders. And our Standards Organization will take a bribe and look the other way. I've briefly being in an LNG plant before. And there were very strict regulations about driving vehicles in the plant. In fact petrol powered vehicles were a CAPITAL NO! For those of us who have no plans to switch to CNG or LPG, widespread use of CNG/LPG tanks in less than safe conditions is a big worry

No. It will need conversion first. Buy Innoson, already made CNG vehicles

Is CNG cars affordable like tokunbo Toyota cars?

Come and tell us how Biodun was also responsible for Innoson CNG vehicles. All the government institutions filled with yorubas and Hausa can't come up with anything innovative. Independent body headed by Igbo lead the way and you still want to drag.

I think you're an irredeemable tribalist. Okonkwo being the head of IPMAN may not even be the source of the CNG idea. Tinubu met with IPMAN last week. After the meeting, IPMAN issued a statement that they'll force down the price of petrol. The details of the meeting was not disclosed but we all know that before the meeting, IPMAN was even planning a strike to protest subsidy removal.

Your comment was based on IPMAN but even if you'll talk about Innoson, are Igbos the only people in that company? Is it only Innoson vehicles that'll be running on CNG?

Tribalism is such a menace.

And if he is their oga patapata... Then it means he initiated the idea?

Please don't let me believe that I m wasting my time with someone of infantile wisdom... who is trying to tell me that because Chinedu is igbo is why IPMAN came up with such an idea.. because I will list out organizations that igbos hold and you will be able to see your own hypocrisy.

We all applauded IPMAN for their submission but don't credit that to your tribe.. Because IPMAN is not a tribe and FYI, the talk about CNG and LNG has been active since 2011 when Goodluck held sway but since the subsidiary was not removed... It didn't see the light of day..

Now that it was removed, CNG and LNG are now the first thing one anyone's mind. And don't think for an instant, that it was the igbo man that brought the suggestion... The solution was always available....

In fact, why am I having this infantile conversation with you knowing that you belong to the group of people who are ready to swallow anything hook, line and sinker as long as you think it is against Tinubu

Stop talking long nonesense. IPMAN is not a government parastatal, it's a private union. Ask yourself why government institutions headed by Hausa and yorubas are dormant with any new ideas to reduce the suffering if the masses?

Of course trust nigerians, some greedy folks would always want to cut corners, and make astronomical profits at the expense of peoples lives and safety. Our Standards organisations have a long way to go in fishing them out one by one.

Widespread use of CNG tanks would require more public sensitization of its potential explosive hazards and Effective safety measures to combat it.

Even a quality standardised perfectly fitted CNG cylinder in a vehicle with worn shock absorbers, is equally a potential explosive hazard.

Dont tell me you will drive your car from Abuja to your village always. grin Even for those with no plans to convert their personal vehicles to also be capable of running on CNG in addition to pms; its still a matter of concern Today as Lagos and very soon a number of other states, are increasingly adopting compressed natural gas usage in City Buses, mass transit public buses and very soon school buses.
Even if you are not using, its still a source of concern and public enlightenment about safety measures cannot be overemphasized. Its still source of concern because your loved ones or relatives might be using such vehicles personally or public mass transit. Abi Lagos state government civil servants staff bus involved in train crash collision recently, nor be people loved ones and relations still dey inside?

CNG filling stations would have been made available before the removal of subsidy, this is pure medicine after death.
The City of Benin was used as a pilot scheme to test run the efficiency of CNG by either Yaradua or Jonathan government "I can't remember", about six of the filling stations were established in Benin City, they still run till date but it was never replicated elsewhere as planned.
Fewer vehicles use CNG in Benin because of the absence of the stations outside the city. Many vehicles would have been converted from PMS to CNG but that would mean they may never be used outside Benin which discouraged many intended users.
Government knows exactly what to do to get things right but policy summersault has become the order of the day with successive government.
You are right. Noticed the stations along Sapele road. Was surprised when I was inside one of those and noticed that the driver opened his bonnet at the station. I was curious, so I had to alight from the vehicle to observe the magic.

LOL @ driving my car to my village. Na boat we dey use. I saw Gazzuz post on his conversion to LPG hit fp. And for someone of his status, I'd expect he understands the physics, chemistry and risks involved AND would have taken all precautions. But who is to say Kazeem onigas will take those safety precautions? Plus is gas powered vehicles really the way forward? I don't know the stats but in say the US, I'd like to see what percentage of ICE vehicles are gas powered compared to petrol.
