Our students are very rich, you need to enter where students rent as accommodation and see how so furnished it is.

Our students are not poor at all. Most live exhorbitant life style.

How much will the tuition FG may want to introduce be, that students don't already spend as chicken change.

Getting a job is not as important as having the intention to pay back. And yes there will be jobs to pay back if Nigerian youths can cure themselves of their LAZY mentality. There are lots of brown collar jobs which you can earn so much than white collar jobs. Once again there will be jobs and again point of note, the loan is not by force.

This kind of mindset is what has rendered alot of my grand dad's age mates so useless today. The don't even have a house of their own. The story is about the Federal Mortgage bank that loans money for you to be able to own your own house. Every one of his friends shared your kind of notion. # the bolded in your comment. Till today they got no house, they have been a burden to their children. May Grandpa finished paying the debt ages ago and happy without regrets. You can't eat your cake and still have it.

How does increment in school fees be the reason for castigating such a wonderful idea? Let's begin to help ourselves rather than cast ourselves.

So if your preferred candidate wins the election or the tribunal now and says that this student Loan is what he will continue on... will you be able to say what you are saying at this moment?

Look politicians will come and go it is the legacies that they leave behind that would be the benefits of the masses.

I wouldn't care if it was Atiku or Obi or Tinubu or Kwankwaso that signed this into law... Student loan is a good idea, let's support it.

Hello let me break it down for you. At the moment in federal universities, there is no tution fee for undergraduates cos government subsidised it. Now government was to put bact tution but smartly offer loans to a few to afford university fees. Remember when Chris Ngige said education is too cheap in Nigeria, yes, this is a fallout. Education is about to spike astronomically. So instead of cheap education for the many it is going to be restricted and after the person graduates, they would be owing the government restricting the japa mentality cos you can't leave till you have paid up

The new government is gradually washing its hands off funding education and you're here supporting them. The multi-faceted rot in our educational system hasn't been tackled wholistically. Our tertiary institutions are under-funded, our curriculums are outdated, our lecturers are under-paid, our graduates are still unemployed and even the under graduates are low on morale because of the sad tales they are hearing about unemployment.


Rather than look into all these, the president is thinking of introducing tuition fee (which is an indirect way of increasing the school fees) whilst on the other hand introducing student loan. Shey una no dey reason ni? If education remains subsidized who will need student loan?

When I was an undergraduate of O.A.U (Ile-Ife), the highest school fee my parents paid was #16,800 (as a freshman). Subsequent payments (as a stalite) were between #7000 to #9000. Will any parent need a loan to pay that kind of amount?

The government is mortgaging your future and you're here supporting them. Foolish fool! They have removed subsidy in petroleum, they have privatised electricity company, they are planning to wash their hands off funding education and a fool like you can't see the handwriting on the wall. Now ask yourself what then will the common man benefit from government?

No policy no matter how brilliant and laudable is without its obvious flaws and criticisms are often times needed to make needed adjustments!

I know because I based my verdict on a proven precedence, Tinubu is and was a people builder, he paid WAEC fees for thousands of students many of which may not be able to afford it then in Lagos state, what do you think he wanted to gain in that, money for himself or what?, He created so much opportunities that are still putting food on people's table till today, while Peter Obi was busy ignoring local government election and refuse to appoint any local government chairman throughout his eight year tenure in Anambra so he could sit on monthly state allocations Tinubu created even more local government headquarters in Lagos state without any assistance from the FG with building facilities and everything a LG needs to function and he employed graduates who are still working in those places till today, to what end, do you think he wanted a job for his children or what, and before you say it was the state money, realise he didn't have to do it, nobody compelled him to and it was his idea, you obedients are the one blinded by sentiments without substance for Peter Obi, we BATIST made our decision to support Tinubu with very clear eyes, I'm already rooting for that Soludo of a man if he contest for presidency I will vote him but never Peter Obi, I vote competence not tribe, by the time you vote your tribe man and he make a mess of everything you will also be affected.

In my humble view and opinion, I don't think that Nigeria is ripe for a student loan scheme because of our statistics inadequacies coupled with the high rate of graduate unemployment. In the UK where I am used to, graduates can only start repayment when they start earning salaries up to £21,000.00 per annum. For graduates who are self employed, repayments are based on their declared income and/or profit for a given tax year.

Tinubu do for people who need am,not by force to put yourself in loan.
