Good old days. Coins were still in use then. I think Garri was even 50kobo or less then. Democracy really destroyed Nigeria.

It's well bro. Just manage it. We are all managing. Those who have don't even care about those who don't have. If you know how much is spent to feed dogs in this country everyday when people cannot afford a good square meal, you'd be surprised.

They're YSSG an acronym for **yellow socks n slippers gangs**

They are vagabonds that makes nairaland interesting.
They're from dysfunctional homes,so they try to project people into the slum and shackles they're embedded in.

If they bully you and you refused succumbing, they hang on the person collars their mum's n sisters are tagged on.

You're yet to meet the rainbow gangs....those ones wear dirty dreadlocks upandan and usually drags their knickers along with earpiece hanging on their ear lobes

They re the lows on nairaland.

Around the mid-90s, I was a little child then still following my mother to the market. My mother was into buying and selling palm oil. I may not remember everything again but I can still remember vividly that before we returned home, she would buy 10 cups of Garri for N10. If it is 15 cups, it would be N15. 20 cups would go for N20. That's N1/cup. That was in stock to serve till the next market day.

As a son of a palm oil seller, against all odds, I have strived to attend education up to tertiary level only to come back and be hit with unemployment, in an economy with throat-cutting inflation. That same Garri that was N1/cup, the attached photo is 6 cups for N500. This is not even enough for one mouth not to talk of several mouths. How did Nigeria become this expensive and difficult for average citizens to survive amidst massive unemployment/underemployment?

The recent removal of fuel subsidy has even worsened the whole situation, making prices of goods and services beyond the reach of the common citizens.

"Can the poor breathe please?"

I am an applicant with mouths to feed, finding it difficult to survive each day. And as a Nigerian living in Nigeria, can I at least breathe until I get a job or find capital to start a business and things become better?

Undoubtedly, millions of Nigerians are in my shoes, and even worst. This is evident in the Nigerian streets.

Yahoo, kidnapping, money rituals, etc are not meant for everybody but unfortunately, the youth are being pushed into it due to the state of the economy. Note: I'm not in any way in support of the aforementioned.

In Tinubu's voice, I would say, please,

"LET THE POOR BREATH".
"DON'T SUFFOCATE THEM".

And on behalf of unemployed Nigerian youths, WE WANT TO BREATHE. DO WELL TO HELP THE UNEMPLOYED WITH A JOB AND ANY OTHER SUPPORT.
But how come there was still poverty back then? 🙄

That is not true, in mid '90 a rubber or kongo of garri is N1.50 a cup should be less than the quoted value

Please, whose job is it to push the nation away from an import-driven economy to an export and production-centered economy??!

Speaking of population, is Nigeria more populated than India, China, America, etc??!

He is right...! Elected leaders and ruling parties have failed the nation!

Some APC and Tinubu supporters are actually doing it out of shame or ego!

Pride no wan allow them cry out!

They are actually suffering far more than those they come online to call "Wailers"!

Many of them are on Nairaland with alternate accounts begging daily! They are the main beggars all over social media!

Losers complain. Smart people see opportunities in times of difficulties.

Imagine someone who plants cassava (minimal maintenance) and yam this period. The outlook is very encouraging. The unemployed loser lounging in the cities waiting for God to pick his/her imaginary calls can relocate to the village to farm. In a year or two, s/he will have more than enough money to start life on a good footing.

You know what to do.

What system of Government do you run as a nation??! Is it the same decentralized and people-centered system seem in America, UK, and other parts of UK??!

Are the states in charge of their resources and security architecture??!...

I'm not making excuses for the equally useless state governors, but the nation is running a centralized system of government which makes a lot of states less productive and accountable!

Whose job is it to correct this foundational error??!
