No mind the idiot. Covenant wey be say na image branding full their modus operandi.

All the competition wey dem dey pit us with all the quack private schools, e no get one wey all these top federal schools no dey dump dem. E no get any at all. One mumu go go out there dey talk rubbish.

He dey take schools wey dey get low rate of profs take compare schools wey dey make profs. The same Covenant wey be their first VC na Unilorin lecturer.

The maga think say na just vibe, money, and english wey full Covenant dey make school school. Book dem no sabi.

I sabi pezin wey write >100 researches, publish them, as a student, he dey Oxford now, full-fledged scholarship, na federal school. This mumu get mouth dey yarn rubbish.

Private schools wey be na them be reason Oloyede dey drop jamb cut off and standard yearly. Arindin omo.

I beg to disagree on this.. I attended federal University and I can tell you for free that covenant University grads are doing well especially in finance related courses, I may not be privy to other departments but finance or accounting those dudes are doing well. Go and check the big 4s, investment banks, big 3 in consulting and you will see them in loads. Despite the school is still young they boost with good numbers of CFA chartered. I take these talks with a pinch of salt. Many private universities have hacked this education thing. Covenant university still stands tall above them all.

What Unilorin for one does is that they admit many students. You can see 300 students in a department. Their lecture halls will be choked.

Then they start whittling down the numbers of students. That's what they call ''face tanke". By 200L, you'll discover that some of your course mates have flunked.

Sometimes, you can't really blame the students who flunk after their 100L days because the quality of education is very very poor.

The Nigerian government needs to prioritize education very urgently. The federal education system is an absolute mess.

It is called survival of the fittest.

While you may be right about the statistics, have you considered that it could be attributed to the socioeconomic status of these students' families?

I get the survival of the fittest part, but the management should also jack up the quality of education.

Take a random stroll and enter an 100L lecture hall and watch your heart bleed. A hall for 300 people will be filled with more than 1,000 students trying to hear what the lecturer is saying. Go to the library, old with stale books. The clinic is a shame.
I know many things about Unilorin but I'll not say much.

Do you know there's no bank, besides the fintechs, in Nigeria headed by graduates of these private schools? Now that's what's up. Their heads all got their training from all these fed schools. Now that's what's up.

Also, it's expected for these guys to pull graduates from these schools because the reality is majority of them are from well to do and connected family. Vice versa is the case in that of the fed graduates. They have the funds to meet any preparation required for all these big 4. Look, I have a sis in account department in Unilorin, her motivation to studying hard is that around half of them in class are already taking and smashing ICAN. You can tell that the rest who aren't it can't afford it.

Now the drill is that the finance and banking industries pull the best students from the federal schools and put them there with those guys who have their job placement ready before they get consigned to their private universities. It's a no-brainer. It almost requires no thought to reach this conclusion.

And, oh, don't even let's go into the medical field.

Bro, you know what you're talking about.

I've worked in the finance industry and the big 4 employs many private university graduates. It's a fact. Ask HR.

It's not beef.

I did my first degree in a federal university in Nigeria so there's no cause for beef. But when something is true, let's acknowledge it.

CU is not on any federal university's level. The syllabus alone is light years ahead. Visit the heralded Unilorin and see them using 2005 accounting principles to teach and lecture students. Converse with some lecturers and you'll be shocked at how these guys who can't string a simple sentence together became lecturers.

d quality of education he is referring to I think is d lack of organization... If they can group dis students before teaching them it will be better... 300 students in a class is not good at all.... I'm talking from experience..

Oh, I get that angle you're coming from. There are two responses to to your submission.

One:
Let me paint this picture. I have a friend, Adebisi Yusuff. He graduated a pharmacist from UI three years ago and today he's in Oxford, UK, on fully funded scholarship. Animashaun, our medical student senior, graduated from Unilorin last year, just last week, he got admission calls for fully-funded scholarships, with beautiful remunerative packages, in 7 top medical schools, including John Hopkings and Harvard Universities.
My girlfriend, Bunmi, in Unilorin studied English, 2.1, and graduated late 2021, she's in India last December on a full fledged scholarship.
Lastly, in my street, Tito, fathered by one the rich folks in my street, attended Covenant University. Early this year, his parents paid around $14+ for him to go do Masters in the UK, not Oxford University and obviously not scholarship.

You should be able to pick from all the instances I cited up there that all these guys attended the 300+ classes and are doing well upon graduation and getting recognized by the academic world in the upper echelon. I won't talk about Teslim in Russia too.

Two:
Look, I understand the quality of truth in the maxim 'the sky is big enough for all birds to fly'. Hence I do not hold opinion against the ceiling of private schools students at all. I am only stating a fact that they're not in the level of the top federal universities in Nigeria, as far as core standard and academy measures. Forget the image branding. They actually need it. The Federal schools don't need Image polishing that much, it's more about the nitty-gritty in those places than the posh you see.

Lastly, it's not exactly good that we have that much students in a class, but, ffs, we're 200+ million people and we all believe, albeit somewhat wrongly, that education is the main answer to life success and, as such, the queue for federal schools surge. No thanks to the financial anaemia that hinders these lot.

UK has about 67M population, >160 universities. Nigeria has about 170 universities. >1 million candidates apply to these schools years. Do the Math. There's a reason you see these lecture halls being quite gargantuan.

I attended a government owned university and I know d quality is different compared to private schs... In public university it's more about survival of d fittest.... When I went for my masters in another Federal University I saw d same standard....d issue now is dat students should not be subjected to such an abnormal conditions of learning.... They can be grouped into sections.. Or better still d lectures can be done online.... This particular statement of yours confirm my sentiment, chief. I am in complete tandem with all your submission!

I do respect CU, I do respect Private universities, I do respect all graduates and everyone who breaks sweat to ever contribute into education in whatsoever way that is positive.

My stance is same as yours. I also do acknowledge that they're making great strides.
