Hello Nigeria,.
For some time now, I have carefully noticed that there are no more workers in Nigeria. I personally don't really grasp the reality here.

Okay, I will share my experience about this from recent events, I opened a barbing salon this year and I actually have been looking for a manager for god knows how long now to no avail. In fact, I made posters and pasted in the neighbourhood and also been talking to god knows how many barbers etc. Just to say but few. Actually, I had to do all the setup works by my self because I got tired of begging for labourers or even the half professionals.

Let me some blunt or sincere, people in Nigeria today are no longer interested in working legitimately for money! And this has nothing to do with age.

Las Las everybody done turn to yahoo boys for 9ja

True. But also try to recruit people with no knowledge and build them up by training them for the roles you want them to fit into. This is how I've been hiring for years. Sadly. When they see how well they've developed, most times, they hurry to resign

I have seen that workers like ordinary barbers, carpenters, electricians all them boys that would work and hustle with skilled labour between 18 and 30 are all now leaving their works and sitting at home claiming yahoo boys with their big polo grin

In fact boys feel say na shame to dey work as bricklayers or barbers or plumbers even though big money actually dey for all those labor works oh and the labor for 9ja dey learn to compare with labor work in western world shocked. Many are becoming lazy by the minutes despite the hash times

Every boy wan use iPhone and wan still collect shocked everybody don wise, no more slow and steady it is now make it or leave it! And this includes girls and young ladies too. They now think that life has to end with hock up as far as a lady has toto, she just has to be packaging and sample sad.

Let us do the maths.

Tailor is in high demand in Nigeria now just as many other works. A tailor will charge minimum 4k to make a simple native dress for men or women. 20 customers per a week 80k
Now, for an average month a tailor can make over 300k as net income.

A bricklayer will charge 6k for a day job and by the average of 1 year a bricklayer can make over 3m as net income under all circumstances

A barber will charge #500 for a common adult hair cut, most of them work 20 persons per day and double by weekend, say he can easily make 200k per month as net and maybe balance the salon owner 80k and save from his 120k.

Many ordinary yahoo boys just dey hustle to eat and buy cloth without future and many of them no dey feed well but with big polo u no go see the bones shocked

If u know u know

Not really sha because no body has shown interest despite my outreach but I know the right person will still show but I thought it would be fast grab for boys. By the way, i can not imagine a young man between 18 and 30 not having a sizable particular job as a career and I see a lot of boys and majority I don't see them going to work but sure I wrong even though, to me I think anybody can be working and still do yahoo or working online at the same time. I was once a "yahoo boy" but was never feeling comfortable with just sitting inside house year after year.

Physical labor is very important but few may know

Many of them would learn this late in life.

" Physical labor is very important but few may know "

The desire to be flashy and soft without work is fast becoming the new endemic we have as a society. People want to look just cute and soft without anything life work attached with their profile/personality.

This trend begins at the top of our society and trickles across the entire length and breadth of our society. Take a good look at BB Naija, Nollywood and music industry stars for example.

It's always about the glam for these folks. I've always seen guys like Ozo and White Money for example always in flashy pics of themselves without any hints of " work inspired actions in their photo ops "

But check out people like Tobi. Whenever Tobi takes pictures, it's always with reference to work.

Girls are.doing great. They fill up training centers, be it fashion, catering, sales, cooking etc.

Young boys today between 18 and 27 are struggling to win the contest of who can tie weed the best. In my area, almost 250 young boys gather, wearing socks, smoke weed, dance and chatter from dusk till dawn. It's so bad that they come from areas they take 2-3 transport services to converge.

Who has cursed us ? What type of generation of men are we breeding for the next 20-40 years ? The ladies are fast overtaking boys with hard work potential. The boys hate they work, should they get engaged in employment, they resign within a months finding almost ten million reasons to discontinue working

There is this saying that ' the evil that will kill a poppy will prevent him from smelling the shiiit.

Big polo entrepreneurs

Some boys today think that you can only get women if only you have a lexus and this is 1 of the reason why they get sick with hustle.

Funny to note that the girls they want to die for all started working in the brothels from age of 15 and when they reach 22 and above then they graduate into huck-up entrepreneurs grin

Must I be the manager, Can't I work do other works? Anyways, like somebody said here, I can consider closing the salon., by the way I added gas refilling in the same shop.

But if Nigeria continues like this for labor shortage at this early time then the future will be wonderful grin

I honestly don’t understand by what you mean labor shortage. I’m also a business guy. I have saloon and few other businesses. I have people working for me. I’ve never been short of laborers, even when it comes to farming job cuz I’m also into agriculture..

My saloon - I don’t use a manager. My barber now has 4 apprentices learning barbing and the thing is even now super easy to run. He’s like the manager & he’s doing well. The way I pay him is also interesting to him! He’s like the manager & all..

Can’t your barber be the manager? Infact, when it comes to barbing saloon, you can’t involve somebody that can’t barb or else it’s just a waste of funds & resources..

Ur insinuation validates my conclusion.

It definitely depends on state and location but only an ignoramus will argue that Nigeria is not suffering from labor shortage.

U can read other people's sumbmition here and it in line with my observation. Over 80% of People between 18 and 30 today in Nigeria prefer to be idle, lazy and insensitive!

Las Las ur opinion ur beans grin
