Funny enough, I served at Government Secondary School, Ikang in Bakassi Local Government. Back then, it was relatively peaceful. Just don't do anyhow make you no see anyhow.

They used to call us 'Kopa Wee'. Everyone loved and protected us (even the militants alike). You see them in the morning, na sayo. Afternoon and evening, na highness everybody dey. The community people were so nice to me that I was tempted to stay back after my NYSC (if no be my papa wey change am for me). Our popular slogan was; 'BAKASSI LIKE LAGOS'.

It was during my service year that I got to know how our unscrupulous politicians contributed towards the militancy issue plaguing the NIGER DELTA. Like Gen. Sanni Abacha said; 'any terrorist attack that lasts more than 48 hours is definitely in connivance with the government'. This nation is fastly sliding into abyss.
