Workch: This gas revolution is already favouring me and my family. I run a business which requires that i power my gen from 8a.m to 6.30pm, with only 30 to 45 mins rest. I spend #5,000 on petrol daily which translates to #150,000 at the end of the month. Since i converted to gas, i spend #1,750 daily. Multiple that by 30 days and see the difference. #150,000 on Petrol per month minus - #52,500 on gas per month = #97,500 It will not only favour me and my family but Nigeria at large. Even those who e dey pain as e dey sweet us too will benefit from this gas revolution. LPG/CNG/ Carburator for cars is also starting to make waves. It's only a matter of a short time from now. Tinubu's target has been an efficient beneficial use of our gas that has been wasting away for ages. His target is revolutionary, making gas even becoming a major source of foreign exchange through export. Recently there has been an agreement with the Government of Morocco to allow Nigeria to pass our gas pipe through their country to head to Europe. 3 Likes |

Workch: All these turenchi you're speaking is unnecessary bro . I power my generator with LPG gas and I use 12.5kg @7000 for at least 40 hours . You are free to use your bodmas or almighty formula calculate how many litres of petrol will be enough for that 40 hours. Below is one of my 3 generators using gas in peace 5 Likes

Zxcvbnmghtr:Tinubu's subsidy policies has nothing to do with the increased demand for gas. Rather, a product of Nigerians resilience. Also, agreement to pipe gas through Morocco has been on the table since GEJ period. Don't attribute it to Tinubu 5 Likes |

What I see here is an erroneous assumption by the OP that 1 liter of PMS equals 1kg of LPG. 1kg of LPG is almost 2 liters in volume. So 1kg of LPG will last almost twice as much as PMS. So OP, the experiences people have with respect to the use of LNG is actually valid. We can research more on this matter. 1 Like |

I think its about the time. According to GAzzuz, 1kg of LPG will take 8 hours and 1 liter only 2 hours. I stand to be corrected Workch: |

I remember making a similar comment on the earlier page where I asked the guy running the experiment to compare cost/kg to cost/kg. I made some conclusion based on rough calculation (estimate) using the heating value of both fuel and assuming equal efficiency the lpg would do a little better and that it could do worse (if the efficiency drops) since the generator wasn't originally designed to use lpg (so the efficiency maybe lower) and safety concerns. Moreover once the law of demand and supply kicks in, the price of lpg would go up because of the increased demand. |

IamAtikulate: I didn't know that GEJ was still the President when the Nigeria Morocco gas pipe line was proposed in December 2016. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/business/business-news/604982-nigeria-morocco-others-sign-agreements-on-gas-pipeline-project.html The agreement was signed just last year. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/554319-nnpc-signs-gas-pipeline-agreement-with-morocco.html Tinubu's political will to making it a reality, a continuation of Buhari's legacies is the Morocco Nigeria pipe line project. The demand for gas must have been so high before Tinubu's subsidy policies so high that today's demand has nothing to do with the Subsidy policies because it's all about resilience and not a result of exploring an alternative because of the Subsidy policies on petrol. |

Hello peeps. Obviously i did the energy calculations too. The OP is wrong in that average relative density of LPG is 0.57 while that of pms or gasoline is 0.743. So 1 kg of Gasoline is not N500 but around N740 based on N550 per liter. While 1kg of LPG is about N550 depending on location. Secondly, LPG burns way more efficient than gasoline, especially because it is metering into the engine as gas. So less wastage in wetting surfaces and forming carbon deposit. But there are problems I observed in LPG that I am really surprised no one has mentioned here. In running my recent setup, i noticed major carbon buildup on the plugs when i run on LPG from libricating oil combustion. This does not happen with gasoline. Am just wondering if is a fault from my engine rings or mybe i should reduce the level if lubrication oil in the engine. Second problem is vaporisation. LPG in Nigeria consists of propane and butane. So when it forms vapour that is fed to the engine, while in the cylinder, the propane C3 evaporates first, leave butanes C4 and heavier hydrocarbons C5+ behind as residue in the cylinder. The engine can't burn them as gas cause they are similar to gasoline components. Temperate regions of the would using only propane LPG do not have this problem. And the solution is to incorporate a vaporiser into the system and feed liquid LPG from the cylinder to the vaporizer before it goes to the engine. I have not seen any vaporiser for generators so far. Of course you can always take the residue to your kitchen and use it for cooking at a slower rate than normal or just buy propane LPG abinitio, the one they call fake or inferior cooking gas that burns very fast. Addendum. My engine is bad , noticed it has been burning oil so thats the reason for carbon build up. Am replacing the piston and rings. 4 Likes |

Guys I think OP might be right. I bought the carburetor from Gazzuz and have everything installed. Note, I have 1hp power AC, workstation and other home appliances apart from fridge. 13kg did not last for 18hrs when used with AC, I had to fill the gas cylinder twice because I couldn’t believe 13kg did not last long enough of AC. Well, I thought maybe the regulator is bad so I changed it to the one I use for cooking. I filled 5kg just to see if the regulator was the fault. Well, 5kg did not last up to 4hrs on full load

Mariomadiba: Since the OP equated 1 liter of petrol to 1kg of gas, tell us how long 13 liters of petrol would last under similar conditions(full load)? 1 Like |

Workch. I've tested this personally. I bought the gas carburettor from Oyingbo, got the cylinder, regulator, hose and clip. Got it installed and filled the gas for 12Kg. Didn't last long and my installer said perhaps I was cheated by those that filled the gas cuz I filled it at roadside gas shop. I then went to Mobil Filling station to fill it to the brim and the dispenser read 16.19KG. this I thought would make me know if it truly saves money. Went to my business and told my worker there to take note of each time he switches on or off the generator. I discovered it finished after 11 hrs 30 minutes. I bought the gas for 10,400. If I buy petrol and fill my tank to the brim it'd be 9,700 and that lasts me up to 14-15 hours which means it's better to use fuel in my experience than gas although someone said it might be because I open the regulator fully that I should open it halfway or something but I doubt it'd make any difference 3 Likes |
