1stGenAmerican:But he wasn't sentenced at all. He worked in mobil at that time and wasn't sacked. He travelled to the U.S frequently after that like he did previously and was even invited to Obama's coronation in 2012 by the Democrats. As to why he agreed to forfeit, his lawyer at the time (who was also his nephew) said he advised him to forfeit and not to drag the case for too long because this was a fight against the U.S with all the resources they had, it could eventually dent his career. |

All these useless Olanikpekun (SAN) wannabes. A straight case of forfeiture of drug proceeds has just been proven by Bamidele. He was an APC witness who was brought in as an American trained lawyer to come and save a drowning Tinubu. He instead, Nailed the Agbado Lord totally by admittance of the fact truly the forfeiture was DRUG related. As long as the case is drug related, Ogbeni Tinubu has just indicted himself. So all these lowlife Olanikpekun (SANs) on Nairaland should just rest. Tinubu will be booted out. Keep playing with your kindergarten Propaganda...mtcheeew! 1 Like |

M4A1carbine:Then why doesn't he have a criminal record with the FBI, if the forfeiture was penalty for crime? |
Re: Forfeited $460,000 Was A Civil Matter: Tinubu's Witness, Bamidele Tells Tribunal by 1stGenAmerican(f): 6:18pm On Jul 05, 2023 |
GeneralDae: Just because he entered the US doesn’t mean that he wasn’t convicted or sentenced. Expungement removes visa roadblocks stemming from criminal records. The records are now sealed, only the forfeiture remains. Why was there a case and how could it have dented his career unless it was criminal? A case has to have origins and this didn’t start as a civil matter. The forfeiture was a judicial forfeiture stemming from a criminal case. 1 Like |

GeneralDae: There are thousands of plea deals going on every corner of the U.S at the moment.. There have been millions of plea deals done in the U.S in the past 30 years... You could always research and dig in to find more information.. While you are digging.. remember not every detail of the deals are mentioned in the court papers and sometimes plea deals are not even mentioned in court papers even tho it happened.. When you are a seasoned investigating journalist or a trial lawyer.. or being around in the field in one way or the other... if you see a case and the outcome.. then you can easily put 2 and 2 together and understand what happened. |

GeneralDae: Expungement seals/deletes records, making them inaccessible. People file expungements so that that criminal records can’t be produced. |

1stGenAmerican:How do you know the records are now sealed? I told you to post similar examples in a drug case that involved forfeiting thousands of dollars, you didn't. There's nothing sealed. His friend Akande who was a politician living in America and was close to his wife's relatives, first sent him money to open a joint business account in Lagos. Akande at a time also sent him 8000 dollars and he bought a car from it. 80,000 dollars was also sent again by Akande later on. At that time, Tinubu was a Treasurer in Mobil Nigeria. Akande's brothers were later arrested for drug peddling. Money traced and Tinubu's accounts were frozen. |

The primary agency for drug related offences in the USA at federal level is the DEA. Stop disgracing ya sef here. The confession of Bamidele has further smashed Tinubu. Stop narrative twisting. It won't work. GeneralDae: 1 Like |

pafra: Prior to the election, it became a public information and his representatives clearly admitted that the said money was forfeited but that there was no conviction. As a matter of fact, in the response given by the Chicago court( as some petitioned the court), it was stated that the 2 parties reached an agreement for the forfeiture of the said money. Moreover, if he wanted it hidden, he wouldn't present any representative to confirm that it actually happened and if you read the article very well, that was about the only thing the witness talked about and the case was closed. There's a reason for that and that's because he knows its not admissible in court since he wasn't convicted. |

M4A1carbine: You’re right. This all started when the DEA set up a sting operation which netted Tinubu and his co-defendants. I’m realizing that some of these monikers don’t understand sealing or expunging records after a criminal conviction. The forfeiture of drug proceeds stems from criminal cases. 1 Like |

Why are they now singing a new song at the tribunal. The rate at which Festus Keyamo lies is out of this world. |

Obi just smashed your witness, who is a certified American Attorney abi? The guy indicted Tinubu with his own statement. Are you now a SAN after Court proceedings? A crime is a Crime...and various degrees of punishment exist, depending on the end game of the prosecuting organization. You should know that in criminal investigations prosecution organisations look at the Long-term solution. Whereby cases are airtight and the suspects won't escape justice. As regards Tinubu, his forfeiture of illicit funds is an indictment, because it shows he knew the funds were drug related. Just know this also...during campaigns the Agbadorian couldn't travel to the USA, because he would have been jailed. So stop trying to decieve ya sef and your teeming cartel of APC Propagandist. Tinubu will be booted out... Facts GeneralDae: 4 Likes |

[quote author=WATCHOVER post=124232382] I swear it is all over for Tinubu oo[/quot You don't need to swear anything. The Lawyers did well. It is our hope that the Judges will deliver justice. The cases of IREV, Perjuries and Double nominations are stronger than this $460k Forfeiture. It is clearly a civil forfeiture. Sadly he was not convicted The the case was Claimants vs Funds in account held by Tinubu If it were a criminal case, they would refer to case filers as prosecutors and not claimants. Several paragraphs in the case docs are all about the funds and not the owner of the account. US and Nigeria do not have same laws |
