It is essential for an election umpire to uphold impartiality, transparency, and fairness throughout the electoral process. Any perceived or actual bias can erode public trust and confidence in the electoral system, leading to disputes, protests, and a lack of legitimacy for the elected candidates.

To prevent rascality or biased behavior in elections, it is crucial to have independent and impartial umpires who are committed to upholding democratic principles. Transparency, accountability, and the presence of international observers can also help ensure that elections are conducted fairly. In some cases, legal mechanisms and institutions may need to be in place to address any complaints or allegations of bias.

In the just concluded election, the supposedly unbiased INEC seem to throw away the trust and hope bestowed upon them by millions of Nigeria that expects nothing short of upholding the tenets of democracy and allowing the people decides their fate
