Truth is that Tinubu has no alternative other than removing it at soon as possible. The Blame is on Amechi, Ekweremadu(that brought Bill Gates to Buhari to Buy all Nigerian Federal Hospitals, sold to him for Billions already. Tinubu has been Fighting very Boldly and Courageously to UnDo and Reverse all these Satanic Transactions, this is why BGates rushed to Aso Rock few weeks ago to beg him to soft pedal. The Question is: why does he want to Own the Body and Souls of Nigerians?! Nigerians are not Animals to be Owned! If you know half of Battle that Tinubu is currently Fighting for Nigerians, you will shed Tears in Appreciation to CREATOR of Humanity for bringing such a Courageous Leader as Intervention!) and other satanic Greedy Souls like them that Connived with Buhari to Use Nigeria(ns) to endlessly borrow Billions of Dollars and Trillions of Yuan which Buhari audaciously siphoned straight away for Development of Niger Republic his true Country.

Even Great Economists and Professional Financial Analysts from Western World have said it would take a Miracle for any Government that takes over from Buhari to fund Nigeria after Buhari leaves Office, they said Economic Collapse of Nigerian is inevitable with the Unprecedented Wickedness and irredeemable Damage that Buhari and his Cronies did.

Removing the Subsidy at least Saves some Billions (that the theivng Oil Cabals would have also continue to be claiming) for Nigeria use to start the Long Journey to Recovery, from the Unprecedented Wicked Wounds and Monumental Damage which Buhari and his satanic Encouragers like Emefiele, Ekweremadu, Amechi, etc.

Tinubu really Need all the Prayers and Encouragements he can get from us all. Sincerely, if you know the level of Damage that these wicked heartless Anti-Humanity Souls did to Nigeria as a Country, you will know that only GOD ALMIGHTY can Help Tinubu to bring his Vision of making Nigeria great again to Reality.

Please, quickly Download this Video before they remove it from YouTube again. Share on WhatsApp and on all Social Media, this is what all Nigerians should Unite against not the Senseless Tribalism that the those with Ekweremadu wicked heart are using to Divide the Masses. This Video shows when Ekweremadu encouraged Buhari to Cede the Right over all Nigerian Federal Hospitals to Bill gates for Billions of Dollars, which has already been shared. It is paid agents like you that have been perpetrating the subsidy hoax for corrupt politicians. Buhari was telling the truth when he told us subsidy doesn't exist in Nigeria.
nairalanda1:

LOL...there always has been a subsidy. If there was none, you would have been paying N580 for one liter as early as September 2022, when landing cost was N502 per liter then.

You are now sounding like Buhari who in 2014 said there was no subsidy.

Subsidy has always been there. In 2012, fuel was costing N97, meanwhile it cost N99 to bring in one liter. 2015, fuel cost N87, while it cost N132 per liter to bring it in. In 2016, fuel cost N145 while it cost N165 to bring it in. And in 2023, landing cost was N341, while fuel was being sold at N195.

You have not been feeling it because government has been protecting you from the actual price of fuel since 1973....which is why this price increase is shocking you. All our fellow African countries that have no subsidy meanwhile know how the thing pinches.

There always has been a subsidy. Otherwise, why are you asking for them to bring it back.? Why ask for something that you think does not exist.?

I'm not a paid agent, I recieve no money from government or the NNPC or any fake oil marketer.Or real one for that matter self.

The reason why you are calling me a paid agent is because you think fuel should be 'cheap'

It costs money to refine, and transport fuel to end user. And a lot of that money goes into the pockets of ordinary Nigerians like you and me. Supporting low fuel prices may benefit you, but it means that at the end, most of the ordinary Nigerians do not get paid.

Truth is bitter. It hurts. And let me tellyou another truth....in real life, I want the price of fuel to be as low as N40 if not lower. But that is impossible. People want to be paid. You can continue to live in denial, or you can understand that when you sell something , you have to make a profit to pay a lot of people...from manufacturers to suppliers...down the line.

And subsidy has been the reason why we have a lot of issues.

Go and read about how a subsidy works. Stop living in denial. It has NOTHING to do with politica, NOTHING to do with corrupt people, infact the corrupt want you to keep subsidy so that they benefit from smuggling, arbitage , and fake subsidy claims...and NOTHING to do with who one supports. It has everything to do with how to run an economy.

Maybe when we get refineries up and running we can offer them a subsidy...which may bring down prices. But fuel costing N120 a liter? Sorry, that ship has sailed.

If you don't want to believe me, it's your party. Enjoy.

Fuel subsidy is not bad, but the problem is that corruption has hijacked the system completely like cancer, there is no difference between the level of corruption in fuel subsidy and a stage 4 cancer ... Cutting it off is the only solution.

With fuel becoming less lucrative and no free money, sooner only objective minds will remain in the oil sector and things will begin to fall in line.
the govt just have to dole out palliatives like cheap transportation modes and tax refund/reduction, there is hyper inflation already, increasing salary or throwing out money as palliatives will be counterproductive

Peter Obi should just be thanking God that He didnt win that election, or rather, that he wasn't declared the winner because all this bashing and insults would have been directed to him. Nigerians are very short sighted people who want heaven yet do not want to die. They want a working society but do not want to pay the price. P.O would have still removed fuel subsidy because it is an evil that has been destroying our society for long. We have been paying such a high price for cheap fuel for so long that most people don't know that it was an anomaly. So what if we need to cut back on some excesses? Even in UK, not every tom and dick drives cars. Have a good and efficient public transport network system and leave car ownership and driving for those who can afford it. Nigerians, we go dey alright last last, let's all pay the price for a better tomorrow and learn to hold leaders accountable when funds are not used for what they ought.

Economics is double edged - It’s called scale of preference. If you think burning petrol and going to mechanic is a good thing then you have no idea about management.
Think of burning petrol and mechanic visits as taking your hard earned money and throwing it into fire 🔥. Then think of NOT buying petrol and NOT going to mechanic.
Weigh both options above 👆🏼 and choose wisely.

Ok...

Is this an error?

Mom007:
Even in UK, not every tom and dick drives cars. Have a good and efficient public transport network system and leave car ownership and driving for those who can afford it.

^^^
Two points: First, the 'good and efficient public transport system' you speak about...just isn't there. It doesn't exist. And second...the demand for fuel isn't all driven by motorists. The demand for national grid electricity far outstrips the supply...and Nigerians are forced to rely on generators to get by. Lots of informal sector workers (in the auto trades for example) use petrol everyday to work. Your local vulcanizer, welder, painter etc. can confirm this.

Don't swallow the very cynical narrative sold by government and its lackeys - that some 'big men' with 50 car fleets are the only ones 'enjoying' the so called fuel subsidy. The truth is far more complex, as we are all finding out now.

Mom007:
Nigerians, we go dey alright last last, let's all pay the price for a better tomorrow and learn to hold leaders accountable when funds are not used for what they ought.

^^^
No, we are not alright.

The insecurity is ramping up again as we speak (it never went away, actually). People are getting more and more desperate - and desperate people eventually get to the point where they feel they have absolutely nothing to lose.

As for leadership accountability...we never learned what it means. If we did we wouldn't be where we are now. The sad thing is...we never will.

The problem of Nigeria is not exactly this fuel subsidy. Energy subsidization is quite normal in every forward thinking country. It basically stimulates production and the gains from production will offset the subsidy costs.

Our problem is Government inefficiency.

Why do Nigerian Customs turn a blind eye to the fuel smuggling that goes on at our borders with neighbouring countries?
Why do we pay for fuel that never gets delivered?
Why did we not have the accurate figure of our fuel consumption until now, allowing our fuel consumption to get over-inflated over the years, resulting in more subsidy claims?

The Why questions are endless.

Instead of addressing these inefficiencies first, Mr. President just removed the subsidy, resulting in untold hardships for Nigerians. Our government simply cut off the head because it has a headache. We threw away the bathing water with the baby inside. It is really sad.

Oga, I am going to tell you some hard home truths.

There are two kinds of subsidy...the one we do in Nigeria, where we force the oil sector to sell at a loss and then pay them a subsidy to cover the resultant loss....and the one where countries pay their petroleum sector in the form of tax reliefs, grants, etc to try to reduce the production cost.

All the countries that do the kind of subsidy Nigeria does have serious problem. Like smuggling...all of them..Libya, Venezuela, Angola, Iran, have serious fuel smuggling issues. Even Saudi has an issue with smuggling of diesel to Yemen. Then all of them either have bad refineries like Venezuela, plus massive debt, or working refineries with giant debts like Iran. (Debts powered by subsidy induced deficit).

The problem with subsidy is that the cost of producing petrol rises each year. That means the difference between the cost of petrol and the subsidised price rises each year...and so does the cost of subsidy. Hope you are hearing?

Government in Naija and in many other countries with similar subsides reduce costs by periodic rises in the subsidsised price. That is a big part of why fuel here no longer costs 15 kobo as it did some 42 years ago.

The problem is, to pay for rising subsides, we take money from the budget. This creates a large hole called a deficit, which has to be filled by one thing, and one thing alone...a large fat loan from IMF, WB AND Beijing.

The more subsidy rises, the more the deficit...until we end up with subsidy eating our revenue, some of the loans we have taken and money we don't even have yet. And to replace all that...we borrow....

And this is true even if we stop smuggling...which I remind you no other country with similar subsidy has stopped, or remove corruption, which again no other country has removed.

And it is because of subsidy that our refineries are not working...because they have been forced to run at a loss. And that also attracts sabotage.

Now consider this. Niger Republic has a working refinery. Niger is also poorer than we are, and also in some ways has as much as a corrupt problem as we do. And they ahve crude oil deposits. Ghana is also broke, is currently waiting for a bailout from mama IMF, along with Benin and Togo, and has two working refineries, and no subsidy, and some crude oil depositis.

If the above does nott ell you something, sorry.

Yes, Libya has fuel at N14 and a working refinery...Libya also has 8 million people and produces 300000 more barrels than we do in crude. So they have the money to subsidise..compared to our nearly 200-250 million people broke ass land.

At the end, while corruption and ineffiencey is there, and NOTE I DO NOT DENY THAT IT DOES NOT HAPPEN....AND I AM NOT DEFENDING ANY CORRUPT PERSON OR PEOPLE....the issue is, we can do nothing about the cost of production.

Any country that tries price controls over any commodity always ends up with inefficencies, corruption, scarcity, and stealing., and sabotage. Russia subsided fuel, food, everything form 1917 to 1991, and there were scarcities, shortages, and limited supplies of food. Today, Russia does not subsidise much like before, and the shelves in Moscow are full.
