ECOWAS chairman

His focus should be on Nigeria for now, Africa should not be our major concern or centerpiece of our foreign policy this time
Exactly. You have not fix your country and you are going regional.

The tyrant Idi-Amin of Uganda was once the Chairman of the Organization for African Unity (OAU).

Tinubu emerging as ECOWAS Chairman is not an achievement.

The worst president in the world, Buhari was even a former Chairman of ECOWAS.
Perhaps you need to redefine achievement for the English dictionary just so suit your own bitterness.

Ellasure:
you see brother, the problems we are facing in Nigeria includes begerly attitude in government. let me ask you, what stops Benue state government from creating a benue state kind of military force to counter whatever the suspected fulani marauders are doing in their backyards. let the Benue government acts for once and let us watch if the Nigerian public will condemn their actions.

why is that you always bring local problems to the federal government attention. I believe a state government is empowered enough for most challenges of human endeavours excepting the fact that some governors have adopted a laid back attitude in governance.

in the USA where our current constitution was copied the various states are more powerful than the US president and they do deploy state troopers to any trouble area without the president saying otherwise. Even, the US president must seek the state governors permission before deploying a military force to the state and if governor reject it the president can not do anything than to wait and watch events as it unfolds.

in Nigeria, we are handing over all the military force authorities to the federal government because most states are stealing the security votes collected from the Nigerian federal government to secure their states.

it is total lack of shame and responsibilities to call on federal government to come to your state to do what you have received money to do. you are eating with double hands.

Buhari, in his administration told governors Seyi makinde to go and secure his state when he fulani were rampaging the sw and that is exactly what he did by creating Amotekun with other governors from the zone.

so, Nigerian are eagerly awaiting a positive actions against the fulani soldiers troubling the Benue people on their farms. if they want to start a state police I believe the knowledge is available to them. wasting of Benue people lifes on daily basis should STOP.
You are simply comparing apples with oranges. The scale of herdsmen attack in Benue is incomparable to what obtains in the SW States. Benue have a resemblance of amotekun but even that has proven to be inadequate to confront the menace.
Your thoughts are just like saying Jonathan should have told Shettima to secure his state during the peak of Boko haram in 2013.
Don't forget, even with amotekun, Owo massacre still happened in Ondo and it actually took Igboho and not amotekun to flush out herdsmen activities in Ibarapa axis. We all know what later became of him.
So blaming a state governor for insecurity is simply wrong especially here in Nigeria. The example you gave of the US, even yourself knows does not obtain in Nigeria. All the heads of security report to the President. None, absolutely none report to the state gov.
