Bauchi State House of Assembly has adopted Hausa Language in addition to English in conducting business of the House.

Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Abubakar Y Suleiman, announced this at the plenary shortly after member representing Shira Constituency, Hon. Auwal Hassan, moved a motion, on Tuesday.

Hassan said that the English is the official language adopted for conducting of governmental and nongovernmental institutions in Nigeria and the Section 97 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Order 3 Rule 8 of the Standing Orders of the Bauchi State House of Assembly 2017 provides that the proceedings and debates of the House shall be conducted in English Language, the house may conduct its business in one or more other languages spoken in the State.

He submitted that that Hausa being the most popular spoken language in Bauchi, used for communication purpose by over 90% of people across the State, should be adopted in addition to English as second official language.

Seconding the motion, Hon. Musa Wakili Nakwada representing Bogoro Constituency, commended his colleague for the motion, recalling that he moved same motion in the 9th Assembly.

After the Speaker put the motion to voice vote, the house unanimously adopted it.

Totally in support of this..it should even be made the first official language in the state. Other tribes and states should emulate it so that those prodigal sons and daughters who don't speak indigenous language won't have any business in government.

They did it because a lot of them entered with primary school certificate and can't speak English, that's why they adopted hausas so that they can cover their goof.

This I have seen.

Unsurprisingly so because you certainly can’t find 5 among them that can speak passable English.

Lol!

Instead Aboki will be making progress, Aboki is regressing.

I’m sure they must have a lot of illiterates in their midst which is why they deemed it necessary to lower the standards to accommodate them.

They might as well incorporate their different dialects as well.

Ndi ala😏

It's only a matter of little time all Schools in Bauchi State would adopt Hausa as official teaching language.

Rubbish! It can’t stand the test of time. Isn’t that against the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria?

A subtle message to the Fulani people. Fufudi the official language of the Fulani must be wiped out. Nnamdi Kanu opens their eyes.

It is finished. They can’t speak English in the first place and now adopting Hausa as an official language It will preserve their language quite alright but how are they going to be integrated into other region of the country?

English is your official language, their own is Hausa. They are Hausa people and you are a slave, so there's a difference. You're not expected to understand.

Imagine some illiterates above are hailing them as if this is not against the constitution. Is funny how people that fight for one Nigeria are the ones that is bringing law like this. You can’t eat your cake and have it. English language is the official language for Nigeria and all official duties should be conducted in English language. In Bauchi, there are many tribes and languages. It’s not only Hausa, what of Fulani speaking people or minority tribes. These is just a trample on their rights. If people are not ready to be in a nation and abide with the constitution, why on earth do you fight against referendum?
