These idiots don't understand what is going on. Declaring a state of emmergency on food is not enough. Farmer are not going to farm again cos of insecurity of lives and property. Those willing to go into farming are afraid of those blood thirst herdsmen. Now you're saying that you're going to pump money into agriculture for some unscrupulous elements to pocket.

State of emergency on food. One of the basic steps to cushion the effects of subsidy removal.

When you have a visionary leader in power, life go soon be LG to average Nigerians. It's just a matter of time

I just took a break came back you have already posted 14 times .

The current report from statista.com shows that an estimated population of 88.4 million people in Nigeria lived in extreme poverty and this was before subsidy removal.

No amount of intervention can atone for his hasty unguided totalitarian decision of removing subsidy in one swoop.

You can never put the cart before the horse and expect progress.

It is one thing to be intelligent to rig elections and another thing to have the intelligence to lead a country.

This was Tinubu's own very words in 2012 when Jonathan wanted to remove subsidy...

"It must be on calibrated phases, on which the promised gains are measured and confirmed before moving to the next phase of removal.

Government must modify the sudden and complete removal of the subsidy. Either we restore the subsidy or use the funds for other social purposes, If we are to use the funds for other programmes, these programmes shall be placed on parallel track with the subsidy."

So what happened? did he lose his sense of reasoning ,could it be old age or was he suddenly possessed with the evil spirit of a dictator so much that what was written in that inaugural speech was ''We shall remove subsidy in phases'' But he went ahead to say ''SUBSIDY IS GONE''

You never spend one day for office, you never get meeting as the president with stake holders you Don dey announce policies of unification of exchange rate and subsidy removal... Now a dollar may soon hit N1000, many people will. Definitely lose their jobs and even those who have money can't afford a normal meal cos of increase in food prices.

I have never seen a Govt inflict so much pains on Nigerians in a very short space of time.

The problem is if we restore the subsidy, it would provide temporary relief at the expense of a growing deficit and resulting debt.

Then problems would come assuming IMF refuses to fund our loans again

Removing subsidy was the lesser of two evils.

The bane of Nigeria has always remained implementation not declaration . A lot of theoretically great ideas have emanated from our day of independence but usually met partial or total failure following wrong implementation strategy.

Be wise guy, time is going.

To declare a state of emergency on food prices or to ensure that farmers are able to go to their farms without fear of Fulani herdsmen, which one is more effective?

Thank you my brother. Check security first. Once farmers can go to farms without fear and with the awareness on farming, food situation will improve greatly.
Or they will have to resume massive importation to cushion the short fall.

Insecurity: Recruit 50 million youths into army, Tinubu urges FG

All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bola Tinubu, on Monday, urged the Federal Government to recruit at least 50 million youths into the Nigerian Army to boost Nigeria’s fight against terrorism, banditry and all forms of internal and external security threats confronting the nation.

Tinubu spoke at the 12th colloquium to celebrate his 69th birthday in Kano State.

He said, “We are under-policed and we are competing with armed robbers and bandits to recruit from the youths who are unemployed —33 per cent unemployed?”

“Recruit 50 million youths into the army,” he stated, adding that “what they will eat —cassava, corn, yam, will grow here.”

The APC chieftain, while reacting to recent statistics by the National Bureau of Statistics that over 23 million Nigerians are jobless, also urged the government to create jobs for youths in the agricultural value chains.

He said, “Don’t talk about illiteracy, anybody who can hold a gun, who can handle a gun, who can cock and shoot is technically competent to repair a tractor in the farm.”

Removed fuel subsidy and introduced 500billion Naira post-fuel subsidy intervention. More like sealing a pipeline leakage, and poking a big hole discreetly on the other side of the former leakage. Either ways, there has to be a leak.

You are trying so hard to sound smart, unfortunately you ain't. When PO mentioned subsidy removal during his campaign, am sure you weren't against it because every right thinking government knows that's the way to go especially in the face of dwindling income. PBAT has taken a giant step and it takes a man of steel to do that, and sincerely am impressed so far and so are many right thinking and non tribalistic Nigerians. During Jonathan regime we had billions in our excess crude oil account, and can surely partially subsidize, but then this is 2023 and not 2012. If you had argue that we need to reduce the cost of running the government, I will have agreed with you totally, but on subsidy removal and the timing, nope you ain't right.

It is one thing to read and another to comprehend.

Go back and read again and this time do it slowly.

Nobody is against subsidy removal even when it is the responsibility of a Govt to subsidise as it is done in many other countries...

BUT IF IT MUST BE REMOVED IT SHOULD BE DONE IN PHASES.

Simply English.
