Fuel Subsidy- Why Are Wole Soyinka, Femi Falana & Tunde Bakare Silent? by Jacobiceprince8: 1:49pm On Jul 18, 2023
Where is the "Save Nigeria Group" that protested against Jonathan, when fuel was N65. Why are they not protesting now?
Where is Wole Soyinka? Where is Tunde Bakare, Femi Falana? Are they silent because their Thiefnnubu is president?

See, the SW is the bane of Nigeria. Nigeria is sick today because of yoruba dirty and dishonest politics. This is the truth.

They are silent because their tribesman is now in charge so they can't sabotage his efforts, that's how an average Nigerian is wired. It's not their fault cheesy

There haven’t been protests after Jonathan, because those who finance protests are now in charge of government....

The intellectual dishonesty of the Southwest is griming and bile.... I mean, these guys drove Nigerians to Ojota to protest subsidy removal in 2012.

Now, they've gone silent.

That picture of Wole was when the SNG group were fighting for GEJ to be installed as the president of Nigeria and not fuel protest.

Petrol has been fully deregulated so once you hear price of Brent or exchange rate increase, just brace up for an increase.

The only problem is if the pump guys will also agree to reduce when those things also reduce.

Soyinka is as old as your grand Pa
Bakare is as old as your father
Would you advice either of your parents to go to the street?

Lol, it seems you don't know yoruba people. As long as it's Tinubu or any fellow yoruba man, it's the best policy. They will defend, support and argue with all manner of senseless excuses. But let it be someone from another tribe and see them running their mouths and using every opportunity to attack the president.

They're all like that, both educated and uneducated. Pastors or writers, they're all driven by tribalism.

SMH.

I know you will still not understand so there's no point educating you on the difference between then and now. Subsidy removal has come to stay. Demand drive prices, petrol is an elastic good (if you know what that means), it will not remain high for ever. Probably you were too young to know that just two years ago, same petrol crashed so low that we were paying almost twice or thrice the amount we should pay for it yet paying subsidy thieves billions to 'subsidize ' same commodity that its price had crashed.

Smart businesses are finding creative ways to not tie their lives and profit to price of petrol. Subsidy has gone and not coming back!

No, it means the picture is doubtful

People mix up the 2010 protest that supported GEJ and the one that happened in 2012 that was against him.

You can also stage your own protest if you like, but the fact is petrol is now deregulated

Oshomole has been involved in a lot of fuel protest except in 2012 and beyond. So when I say I doubt this picture was from 2012, I have my reasons why.
This is a report of when Oshomhole was been blasted for been anti people because he was now a governor and supported the removal of subsidy in 2012.

However, the fact still remains petrol is no longer going to be fixed by government, it is now deregulated.

Chairman of Ekiti State chapter of Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Kolawole Olaiya, has lambasted the governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, saying his acceptance to serve in the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme Board (SURE) meant he was against the masses.

Olaiya, who stated this while addressing newsmen in Ado Ekiti, during the third day of the ongoing protest against removal of subsidy on petrol, pointed out that “Oshiomhole’s acceptance of the appointment and issuance of a statement in support of subsidy removal was an indication that the former labour leader is no longer on the side of Nigerian masses.”

The march recorded large turnout of people who sang anti-Oshiomhole songs, describing him as “one of those who inflicted pains on Nigerians.”

Wednesday’s march started from Basiri area of Ado Ekiti and marched through Fajuyi Square, Irona to Ijigbo Roundabout.

Olaiya said “we expect him (Oshiomhole) as a former labour leader not to support the removal of subsidy and to be on the side of workers. Issuing a statement that he supports the removal of subsidy means that he supports them.

It means that he has abdicated his former status as a labour leader; he has joined the political leaders to rob workers of their welfare.”

According to Olaiya, “the Edo governor’s table is one of the worst in the country when Labour was agitating for N18,000 minimum wage for workers,” and challenged “Governor Oshiomhole to turn down the appointment if he is a reasonable labour leader as he claims.”

Chairman of NLC in the state, Mr. Ayodeji Aluko, commended the participants for their courage and urged them not to lose hope.

Representative of Bishop Felix Ajakaye of Ekiti Catholic Diocese, Rev. Fr. Raphael Borisade, reiterated that Nigerian leaders were “insincere and not transparent,” adding “they have disappointed us in every sphere of life.”

Probably you were still a foetus or even yet to be conceived when Tinubu protested against the removal of subsidy by president Jonathan. You are only understanding it now because it's your tribesman that removed it. You deliberately refused to understand Jonathan's explanation on why the subsidy must be removed. Even Okonjo-iweala, the then finance minister warned that Nigeria will go bankrupt if subsidy is not stopped yet you guys refused to understand. Had it been it was removed then, we wouldn't be where we are today. The joke is on you.
