I really don't know what the opposition is waiting for to start a protest on the state of the economy.
Are the scared or they are actually in agreement with the ruling party concerning the direction the economy is facing

If you voted against Tinubu in the last election then you are an opposition. Nigeria is not ruled by party but by humans. So if you are not cool with the state of the economy then start a protest and see thousands, if not millions that will join you.

Sometimes I wonder why Nigerians are so dumb. May be there should be a national orientation on basic Economics principles.
The petroleum mkt is now deregulated and u blame the govt for increase in international price for crude.
You can't have ur cake & eat it. If the mkt is deregulated then prices will go up and down depending on mkt fundamentals.
What pple should be talking abt is how govt should invest in public transport and infrastructure. Also we could encourage investment in local refining capacity so that freight, loading cost of importation wouldn't impact locally refined crude.
Also, we can tasked the govt on how the additional income from subsidy removal is utilised.
Bleep, pple always having the wrong conversation in this country. So many ignoramus in this country.
Quote me but pls be intelligent in ur submission

Why can't you guys just be intelligent for once? What has Jonathan got to do with this? Ok, if you must whine about Jonathan, why didn't he build more refineries and make the existing ones work during his time?

Keep calming yourself down.

Una go buy a liter of fuel 1100 naira before end of August.

Nigeria will happen to all of you one by one.

thesicilian:
In a truly free market the price of fuel shouldn't be more than the 490 they were selling before, there should even be a gradual fall with time.
I think this increase in price is just the marketers who were enjoying the subsidy fighting back against its removal.

But it's a direct result of govt policy true or false. Blaming the market is just like blaming lack of sun for darkness. Govt is shirking its responsibility which is affecting the masses

you lack understanding bro , Nigeria is not a normal country, in Nigeria sick & incompetent people are selected by national gangs to rule that's why they're always afraid of intelligent men like Johnathan and Obi. It's same people/cabal that mobilize against subsidy removal that frustrated every move to revamp the moribound ones so that they can keep importing. let's see if the ones they mobilize the stolen funds to build under the guise of Dangote refinery will save us whenever it's completed🙄

It is not an increase, it is market forces at play as advocated by Oby Ezekwesili.

Did Tinubu leading the opposition in 2012, burn government houses?

Better start your anarchy protest in Anambra State that is home to the opposition Peter Obi, just as Tinubu did is own protest in his own Lagos State.

You argue like a 10year old child. in the first place at the time Oby Ezekwesili was advocating market forces, the crude oil price was below $50 per barrel and as such there was low gas prices globally and even in the US gas prices was low, and still the price of fuel was high in Nigeria. Even Sanusi said it that we missed the greatest opportunity then to remove subsidy. Now you want to cunningly spin her statements to support your false narrative and that of this government that has failed already.

************************
The Supreme Court of Nigeria has clarified that the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, did not have a telephone conversation with President Bola Tinubu, or anyone else, on the ongoing Presidential Election Petition on the 2023 election.

The apex court said Justice Ariwoola neither spoke with Tinubu nor the Director General General of the Department of State Service (DSS) with a view to pressurizing the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on the likely judgment to give in respect of the petitions.

The apex court’s Director of Press and Information, Akande Festus, in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, said, “In view of the rumour currently circulating in the social media space that the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola had a telephone conversation with His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Director General of the Department of State Service (DSS) with a view to pressurising the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on the likely judgment to give, it is imperative to state clearly that there is no iota of truth in the narrative, as there was no such telephone conversation between the CJN and anyone.

“Nigerians have been following the proceedings at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal with admirable enthusiasm. So, it is advisable we all sustain the tempo and follow it up to the end, instead of relapsing into the realm of speculations and rumor peddling that will not do anyone any good.

“If this current trend of falsehood and mudslinging is sustained, our nation may not make the desired progress.”

He said the courts are statutorily established to serve the best interest of the masses and the apex court will do just so.

“We wish to plead with everyone to cooperate with the judiciary to serve the country to its full capacity, as no one will ever be favoured against the other in any dispute.

“The rule of law and supremacy of the Nigerian Constitution will always be upheld and applied in every matter that comes before the courts; as the facts presented and the subsisting laws must be applied in determining the merit or otherwise of each matter.

“The public should be rest assured that justice will be done to all matters pending in the various courts across the country, irrespective of who is involved”, the statement concluded

Initial Gra Gra. He was asking for subsidy to be brought back by default and thought others ain't wise wink They just pigeonholed his overwise.

Subsidy is gone for good. Petrol is not price inelastic, very soon, even the marketers will be begging for buyers. All this showmanship is not a substitute for the national interest.

May God bless Nigeria for ever! Check my signature for free stuffs!

The House of Reps should stop wasting its time. It won't work. One thing is to fix the price at 537, another thing is to force the marketers to sell at that price. To sell below the market would only be successful if the NNPC subsidizes it which it won't. The NNPC won't subsidise it, and can not be forced to.

The marketers will refuse to sell and will simply close shop until market determined pricing resumes.

These are marketers who lost millions when NNPC ended subsidies overnight and forced marketers to buy truckload of petrol at the new price rather than the old subsidized price. These marketers I am sure made losses of at least 8m per tanker.
