Re: Anambra Man & His Family Found Lifeless First Night After Moving Into New House by SeriouslySense(m): 4:20pm On Jul 20, 2023
If there was reliable electricity, this unfortunate incident would not happen.

also there is a need for people to avoid using generators at night, especially, if the generator is placed close to the house, you can use solar for the night, and generator in the day. So sad

Carbon monoxide poisoning. There should be a public awareness through radio and television all over Nigeria about the danger.
Don't put your generator in a closed environment where you also sleep. It will kill you.

Nigeria is the only country where generator fumes is killing people, outside Nigeria, you hardly see a house that is using generator.

If there was stable power supply these ones would still be alive..

This is some of the reasons why life expectancy in Nigeria is very low..

Don't be surprised that the two that made it to the hospital were not quickly attended to or were not treated intensively...

Rest in peace to them..

I just wish that 4 day old baby that survived would have just leave this world with the Family. Nobody should have to grow up or be in this world under this circumstances.. It's a pity..

May God be with the little kid.
It is not about stable power but stupidity. With stable power he will still be stupid with one act or the other. Why put a genarator in an enclosed and human habitated room

I'm not sure it's the fumes from the generating set. If it was, the baby won't survive it because the child's respiratory system hasn't developed fully.

There is more to it. Such a sad loss.

Carbon monoxide poisoning

What about the baby?
The doctor stated that the baby is already in a stable situation.

.....get the point?

The high circulating fetal Haemoglobin in newborn babies can help them survive low oxygen level for a long time compared to adults with less than 1% fetal Haemoglobin.

Why does this thing still happen? Are the people illiterate? Are the stories faked? It's either this, death from food poisoning or roasting to death because of heavy security doors. NGOs should educate people to mitigate this. Haba.

Mysterious circumstance.
Whatever killed the other people could conveniently have killed the new baby too. But no!

The fragile baby was able to survive carbon monoxide while the older ones died. Over to scientists for possible explanation.

Likely cause might be because of high levels of Fetal hemoglobin F in the baby hence can extract oxygen more efficiently even in hypoxic conditions unlike adult hemoglobin A. This is the reason a child's hemoglobin genotype can only be determined after about a year unless u use techniques like HPLC. My explanation is my opinion tho.

It makes sense, because the babies have just started breathing unlike Adults who have been depending on oxygen for a very long time. In the womb, does not breathe, only when its comes out of the womb, so its possible their system is more tough to lack of oxygen.
