What show we call this?

It may not be case of generator fume as others may assume, if it was a case of carbon monoxide from the generator the little kid wouldn't have survived. I think it's poison. However it shall be well with Nigerian electricity workers or NEPA as others may called them, especially PHEDC these folks are wicked among all, God will punish them

It was generator fume and the baby, who ordinarily would have been the first casualty survived?
Food poisoning was surely the probable cause of the deaths. It might not have been fed by its mother after she ate the poisoned food! A very simple lead for investigators.

donbenie:

You see a generator, pumping carbon monoxide into an enclosed and poorly airated building..

But the African in you, still want to drag food poisoning and nonexistent village people into the equation.

Mysterious circumstance.
Whatever killed the other people could conveniently have killed the new baby too. But no!

The fragile baby was able to survive carbon monoxide while the older ones died. Over to scientists for possible explanation.

Something isn't adding up.

What you have written is stupid. Stable power in a vast country with so many natural resources should not be an issue! Is Nigeria still in the dark ages? Obviously they are. It wasn't in an enclosed area learn what a veranda is before you comment
Your comment is the most stupid one. The case of stable power is difderent from the ugly incident.
I will pardon you because you did not have the slightest idea that some verandas are air restricted due to acts like building up nets, buglary proofs etc. The fact remains that for their death to have been caused by the Gen carbon, the gen is not in an air accessible environmnet and easily sneaked into the room.

Killed by carbon monoxide.

Many people should be educated.

We MUST or OUGHT to learn from what happens to others.

May God comfort they families that lost these souls to death.

A Middle-Aged Man, his wife and two children died after reportedly inhaling poisonous fumes from generating set at their residence in Nkwele Ezunaka, near Onitsha, Anambra State, Reports.

gathered Ifeanyi from Enugu state, a trader at Onitsha Bridge Head Market, had planned a surprise package of moving into a new apartment for his wife who put to bed few days ago.

A family source said it was same night they moved into the apartment to celebrate both the new born baby and the mansion together that the incident occurred.

The source said: “The entire members of the family were enjoying themselves when suddenly there was a power outage. The man had to put on the generating set stationed at the veranda close to the bedroom.

“The celebration continued into the night before they all slept off and didn’t remember to put off the generating set.

“The next morning, a friend who supposed to join them in the celebration but was unable went to felicitate with them only to discover that the doors were locked with the generating set still on.

“After knocking continuously without response, he alerted other neighbours who forced the door open and saw the lifeless bodies.”

further learnt that the wife and one of the daughters were still unconscious when they were rushed to Borromeo hospital but later died after efforts to resuscitate them, including fixing them on oxygen failed.

“It was only the 4-day old baby survived without any crisis which raised more curiosity on the circumstances of the death of others,” the source added.

Manager of St. Charles Borromeo Hospital, Onistha, Rev. Fr. Izunna Okonkwo confirmed that only the new born baby was in stable condition when they reached the hospital, while other four had already died before arrival to the facility.

Also confirming the report, Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, described it as unfortunate, saying circumstances surrounding their death were still unknown.

“Yes, the unfortunate incident happen and we are yet unravel the circumstances surrounding their death.

“The Commissioner of Police directed the Divisional Police Officer in the area to find out what happened.

“The information he gathered shows it happened and the particular house has been identified while the inquiry is still ongoing.”

Babies have a haemoglobin called haemoglobin F. This haemoglobin makes it easier and faster for oxygen to bind to haemoglobin more efficiently. However, as we grow older, this haemoglobin F reduces drastically

Fake news, the family died mysteriously except for their new born baby.the man was popular at medicine market Onitsha, they died the first day that they moved into their mansion because the land in which they built the house had a history of mysterious things happening there. When the man was building the house, he has fail down twice on that site.

This is a very sad and avoidable story. I wish that people would realize that you NEVER run your power generator in any enclosed space. To do so is like committing suicide because as you breathe, all you're inhaling is Carbon Monoxide (CO), which is a very deadly odorless gas. You must leave it outside or make sure that there is an opening big enough to let in fresh air if you must have it in an enclosure. May the souls of the departed Rest In Peace!

Another victim of bad system. Only if the country was working. This wouldn’t be news. That an entire family died of fumes from a generator, leaving an 4-day orphan to his woes.

Living in Nigeria is a disaster. All these are result of failed system from the day Britain allowed the Black man to be useful to mankind. Instead of exhibiting greatness for which the black race is known for, Nigerian political class dived into corruption and theft.

RIP to the dead. Hopefully, Nigeria will be great someday, even if it’s in 20 centuries to come .

the baby inhales less that's one reason for that. The same way if u insert a young baby into water he or she does not drown immediately

Another wonn uses gen that sound so chronic along with that useless machine that grinds pepper! I'm not sure it's the fumes from the generating set. If it was, the baby won't survive it because the child's respiratory system hasn't developed fully.

There is more to it. Such a sad loss.
if it wasn't developed fully also means he was not inhaling fully. Also some baby clothes covering could have assisted. If there was an open cross ventilated windows d effect would have been mild for d grown ups
