Ernest was on Radio Nigeria sports network and NEVER on NTA.
Not taking anything aware from how good Ernest Okonkwo was on the radio,we do not need to pass off other people's work as his own.
The commentary you presented as Ernest Okonkwo on the Nigeria versus Algeria 1980 AFCON was actually done on NTA by Dele Adetiba and Yinka Craig(deceased).

I think this voice is Fabio Olanipekun. Earnest Okonkwo works with Radio Nigeria Lagos. I was 20yrs old when this final match played at the national stadium Surulere Lagos. The celebration lasted for almost one week. Good old days.

The likes of modele, Larry and akinloye were tv presenter and media personalities, where as Ernest was a football commentator per excellence. Ernest then made football more dramatic with his unique alias assigning and the zeal at which he commentate.

It was not Fabio Olanipekun.
I repeat,the 1980 AFCON final between Nigeria 3 Algeria 0, was run on the NTA by Dele Adetiba and the late Yinka Craig.
Fabio Olanipekun was a later commentator on NTA. Yinka and Dele were his seniors in NTA.
Ernest Okonkwo on the other hand was the senior commentator on FRCN, I repeat Ernest Okonkwo never ran sports commentary on television, he was only on radio through out his career.

I doubt you understand what true commentary is. It is not actually the accents you hear or like. It is how well you use different forms of words to describe situations that are appealing to the audiences. That's why we respect john champion. If it is about the accent, there would be many who had better accent than he had.
