Please o finance gurus Is there any probability that the spiking fx rates will nose dive in the next few months? Or more increases to be expected? Any pointers appreciated Thanks |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by oluayebenz: 5:41pm On Jul 21, 2023 |
hustla: It will definitely nose dive. FX can't stay high for long. I'm predicting 600/USD in the coming months 5 Likes |

oluayebenz: Hmmm 600. Will the gov be looking to defend the naira like before? Doesn't look like we can do that cos it's now floating |

hustla: Floating of fx at this present time causes panic buying which is driving it up madly. In reality dollar shouldn't be more than 600. I believe govt will still defend fx as it is, the corrupt people in the Nigerian financial institutions is out of the world |

freeman67: Please I would like to know, if one buys FGN Bonds from SC, will such investment be shown on CSCS? Also, is it possible to automatically reinvest the coupons, or they get paid into one's bank account? Finally, is the bank (SC) also the medium through which one sells at the 'secondary' market in case of need for liquidity? Thanks in advance. |

IYGEAL Please I would like to know, if one buys FGN Bonds from SC, will such investment be shown or CSCS? Most probably not Also, is it possible to automatically reinvest the coupons, or they get paid into one's bank account? I imagine not because bond prices change over time. Besides, you can reinvest the coupons yourself when received. Thus, the coupons simply gets paid into your account Finally, is the bank (SC) also the medium through which one sells at the 'secondary' market in case of need for liquidity? Yes Thanks in advance. 1 Like |

IYGEAL: You can move the bond investment to your CSCS account. You need to get in touch with your Stockbroker, he will advise you on how to go about it |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by IYGEAL(m): 8:19am On Jul 25, 2023 |
emmanuelewumi: Thank you sir. Will I do this after buying from the broker or the bank? If bank, will it affect anything when I want to sell through the bank? |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by emmanuelewumi(m): 8:26am On Jul 25, 2023 |
IYGEAL: If you buy from the Stockbroker it will automatically reflect in your CSCS statement. If you buy from the bank, the bank is the custodian of the Investment. You can move it from the custody of the bank to CSCS by writing a letter to that effects. Your Stockbroker will assist you with the paper and leg work . Once it is in CSCS custody, you can only sell through the Stockbroker and not through the bank 3 Likes |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by freeman67: 9:21am On Jul 25, 2023 |
IYGEAL: For your first question, it does not show on my CSCS account. The truth is that I just opened a bank account with them through the app and discovered they are efficient, reliable and have investment products I could subscribed to if interested; Like Bonds, TBs and Mutual funds local/int'l. So it's not that I actually opened an investment account where I was required to get a CSCS account or provide 1. On if you can automatically reinvest coupon, I have not done back before because I have not had a need to so I cannot be certain. However, I think that will be subject to availability of the bond and the willingness of the subscriber to accept the prevailing market rate if available. On your final question, that is an easy yes. The same page houses the buy and sell options. It is left for you to select the one you want. That said I also feel this is subject to availability of bids and offers too. Modified I think Oga Emma has dealt the question effectively. That should allay whatever fears you might have. 1 Like |
