This formation would not be bad vs Australia

I’m not convinced with Alozie’s performance as a RB. She regularly mistimes her tackles, and was frankly clueless when she was in attacking positions against Canada.

I don't shy away from arguments. I think they improve this space and we tend to learn a lot from one another in the process. I'm also not afraid to be wrong (been wrong a few times), especially when I'm confronted with superior argument. I just try to learn from them. Some people however just argue for argument sake. I give the benefit of doubt sha, but after a while I just stop engaging.
Smart, unlike most Nigerians. Most Nigerians want opposing statements to bent towards their erroneous views.

I bet you do not want Demehin in right back. Frankly, I would have pushed Alozie to the wings if I had Chidinma Okeke in the squad.

Abeg stop it, why are you guys taking the team backwards? Inclusion of this and this. Tell yourself the truth non of this Players can bench the present ones ooo except maybe Okeke who i even think isn’t back to her usual form.
I guess you are going forward to nowhere. If this team does not reach the final, you are in backward motion.

If she is not 100% fit, then a front three of Ajibade-Oshoala-Kanu will fit in nicely 😁

BTW, the Super Falcons 0-0 draw with Canada was the first clean sheet by the SF in an opening WC match.. They have previously conceded at least one goal in their prior 8 opening matches.

Moreover, the goalless draw was also the first ever that the Falcons have recorded at the WC

Thoughts on this formation?

——-—Demehin——Ohale—Plumptre——-

——-Ucheibe——Ayinde—-Payne——Imuran—-

———-Oshoala—-Oparanozie—-Ajibade———

Here, whenever the Aussies have the ball, our midfielders (except Payne) and the back three will be primarily tasked with defending.

Then, Oparanozie would be crucial in holding up the ball (which she excels at) to lay off passes to the speedier Oshoala and Ajibade
Why will u have Ucheibe at RWB? Her impact would be affected

Danielnino00:

Ucheibe won’t function as a RWB; she will be a DM playing in central position. It’s only Imuran that would function as a wing back in my formation.

I do not think so. Flourish selfish play holds her down for any selection. I had fielded Ajakaye before Sabastian.
Flourish selfish? Someone that literally looks for a 1-2 with teammates, or is it the one that always crosses the ball once she's beaten her player/marker instead of cutting inside looking to shoot?

Her videos during the CAF W Champions league and Women's Champions League WAFU Zone B Qualifiers are allover Facebook, where she was creating loads for her teammates and scoring as well..( in the qualifiers)

Perhaps there's another Flourish you're referring to?

A lot of apkruka analysts and tacticos in this thread but those that actually know ball are very few in number.

People too wey wan force unpolished youngsters down the throat of the team and everyone else, oya na. You don’t know that there’s supposed to be a progression and u-20s football is different from senior ball where you’re playing against professionals and not your age mates you’re better than. That only works when you’re a special talent and not every good player you see on TV is that.

Even tho that agenda is dead on arrival, we dey here.

Even Okeke, with her current form, can't bench anyone on this team.

They have conceded 63 goals in WC highest ever for a female national side.

So, that formation has a LWB but no RWB.
How does that even work?

We can cede our right side to the Aussies, just as Chelsea, between 2012-2018 always ceded the wide areas to Barca in UCL matches.

Of course, the risk is that our center backs would be overwhelmed with clearing crosses from our left flank. But the frustration that the Aussies may have from having their left wing crosses being constantly cleared would force them to go more central, where our central midfield would nullify their threat
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by PDPGuy: 8:32am On Jul 25, 2023
New Zealand become only the 3rd host nation to lose a group game, following Sweden’s 1-0 loss to Brazil in 1995, and China PR’s 4-0 loss to Brazil in 2007

Ruling out New Zealand’ goal for offside should be another strong piece of evidence for IFAB to codify Wenger’s proposed amendment to the rule

Let's not overestimate our chances yet o.. Australia may be without Sam Kerr, but they're still the better team, plus they have home advantage and maybe officiating advantage..it wouldn't be a good idea to take too much risk, especially given the fact that we aren't known for exceeding expectations. Moreso, ceding that right wing to the Aussies will put Demehin who u have at RCB under immense pressure, and we have seen how she reacts when not under pressure ..

They set up in a 4-4-2 formation and The truth is the Maltidas ain’t good playing through the middle, all their balls are from the Flanks…. Close down the Flanks then you’re already weakening them.!

Watch any of their present games and see for yourself.!

This is what I expect of Alozie attacking foray. The way Lucy Bronze goes high up the field because she's covered defensively

Philippines women have recorded their first-ever Women's World Cup win after they defeated co-hosts New Zealand 1-nil.

This was their second World Cup match in history.😳

Please go watch their highlights a bit more before reaching this conclusion. Watch their game against, Spain and Jamaica. I used to think they were strictly a team that played through the flanks. A few highlights changed my opinion.

BTW, the Matildas score a significant number of goals through long range strikes. I was amazed.

This Norwegian🇳🇴 isn’t that tactically sound though, I’m not saying this because she didn’t start their 3 Key Players but in that kind of Group they should be topping it with at least 7points..

Anyway she took the risk of not starting #7 Ingrid Engen, #10 Graham Hansen, #14 Ada Hegerberg.

Their play mainly comes from the flanks especially there’s Kerr. The likes of Vine, Ford do drive in, cut back and their attacking Midfielder Gorry is their major threat in the middle and she isn’t that Strong, can easily be outmuscled by any of our midfielder.

Since Ayinde is back she should take up that DM role while Ucheibe runs Box-2-Box. I think this would be interesting..

Alozie again must be educated on what to do with the ball cause she’s always indecisive with the ball once she wins it or going forward..

Who do you think is more disciplined defensively between Alozie and Toni Payne?

My thinking is, we can't afford to be overexposed. If Payne is more disciplined defensively. I'll rather play her at the RB role and have Jennifer take up her spot in the Midfield.

That way you'll have

Payne Ohale Demehin and Ashleigh in defence.

Ayinde and Ucheibe sits with Onyi as Pivot in the midfield

Rash, Onumonu and Oshoala as forward.

The beauty of this in my opinion is, Payne will make for a more effective wing back offensively. She's not as indecisive as Alozie. The flip side is Rash is also a great support defensively.

Again, this is assuming Payne is better defensively than Alozie.

For now, Ohale is the only trusted centre back we have; Alozie moving forward would expose our defense.

With Ayinde back let's hope she's instructed to advance as Ayinde would give her some cover while Ucheibe support.

That's if our super analysts on this thread don't feel Ayinde is inexperienced to start by even sidelining her in their proposed 11.
