Who do you think is more disciplined defensively between Alozie and Toni Payne?

My thinking is, we can't afford to be overexposed. If Payne is more disciplined defensively. I'll rather play her at the RB role and have Jennifer take up her spot in the Midfield.

That way you'll have

Payne Ohale Demehin and Ashleigh in defence.

Ayinde and Ucheibe sits with Onyi as Pivot in the midfield

Rash, Onumonu and Oshoala as forward.

The beauty of this in my opinion is, Payne will make for a more effective wing back offensively. She's not as indecisive as Alozie. The flip side is Rash is also a great support defensively.

Again, this is assuming Payne is better defensively than Alozie.
I think I will retain Alozie at Right Back but she must be aware of the situation on ground in the Field.. The Coaches are supposed to guide her, tell her Babe this is what you’re supposed to do once you get the ball not the one she would hug the ball and act as if she isn’t a footballer on the Pitch.. She need to know when to release the ball or better still overlap and deliver balls into the box weda high or low anything can happen especially Low balls or mid can results to own goal sef…

Alozie didn’t do bad against Canada, her problem was decision making with the Ball… With Ayinde and Ucheibe starting together I think Payne or Echegini (from the bench) will definitely enjoy a lot of freedom as Attacking Midfielder because those Ladies are Defensive Capable and good ball winners…

For now, Ohale is the only trusted centre back we have; Alozie moving forward would expose our defense.
With Ayinde back let's hope she's instructed to advance as Ayinde would give her some cover while Ucheibe support.
That's if our super analysts on this thread don't feel Ayinde is inexperienced to start by even sidelining her in their proposed 11.
I believe everyone here knows Halimatu Ayinde Capabilities, We know what she can offer and there’s no way we would be Comparing any other midfielder with her in that Position… Her major Problem back then was misplaced passes which is has grown past, But Yes everyone makes mistakes which is part of the game…

Imuran is inexperienced but I would have loved to have her at Left Back against those Australian Speedy Winger and Right Back Carpenter.. But If Randy Keeps Ashleigh Plumptre then she must be defensive minded so that they don’t expose her with pace..!

Well, some persons on the thread feel otherwise or they probably haven't watched the falcons for some time.

I hope the coach puts finishing touches where necessary.

Halimatu Ayinde can also give better Passes in the Midfield especially those defense Splitting Passes if she pushes high on the Pitch…

I think Randy is sticking with Tony Payne at Attacking Midfield and using Onyi Echegini as her alternative..
By the way when Onyi came in against Canada she played wide on the Left and her Passes where just too good..

You just skip pass such whenever you see them, I also saw somewhere here few days ago when the person was trying to Compare Deborah Abeodun with Halima…. E nor Shock me sha! Cause everyone must not make sense with their points

I think, what matters is her confidence; if she's confident enough to do away with fear or respect for the opposing players, she'll definitely excel.
Someone has to help her by communicating the right words to her.

Don't know if it's too early but I'm beginning to feel guilty for campaigningagainst Randy due to past loses.

The man seems to know what he's doing because I thought Onyi would start ahead of Payne but he's justified because Payne has proved herself.

CAF Awards return to Morocco to celebrate Africa's finest on 11 December

The prestigious CAF Awards will make a welcome return on 11 December 2023 in Morocco to celebrate the stars of African football.

After last year’s successful event hosted in the Moroccan capital of Rabat, which saw Senegal inspirational forward Sadio Mane and Nigeria and Barcelona top striker Asisat Oshoala claim honours, the CAF Awards will feature some of Africa’s finest stars.

CAF will communicate time and host city in due course.

The awards will recognise the standout performers from club and country over the past year, with the highlight being the crowning of the CAF African Player of the Year in both the men's and women's categories.

Mane and Oshoala will face stiff competition from some of the continent’s brightest stars who have shone in the last 12 months.

Previous winners of the men category include Ivorian Yaya Toure (2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014), Samuel Eto’o (2003, 2004, 2005 and 2010), Didier Drogba (2006 and 2009), Mohammed Salah (2017, 2018), Riyad Mahrez (2016), Nwankwo Kanu (1996 and1999), Abedi Pele (1992) and the great George Weah (1995) amongst some of the colourful previous winners.

In the women’s category, while Oshoala has dominated the category in recent years, winning in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2022 – she still faces competition from previous winners, including Thembi Kgatlana (2018). This category counts amongst its previous winners, former Super Falcon Perpetua Nkwocha (2004, 2005, 2010 and 2011).

Several more honours will also be at stake, including the Interclub Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year, National Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, Club of the Year and Goal of the Year.

The Interclub Women's Player of the Year award, which was introduced last year after the successful launch of the CAF Women's Champions League, will continue this year.

i cant wait to see ajibade on the pitch. The girl is not always lucky. Last worldcup, that was how Thomas deneby kept her on the bench until the last match
He shooting is her top problem. Irks me that someone that talented is mot putting in hardwork to improve that aspect of her game. More vexing that she's always in better positions to bury sleek chances than Oshoala but will waste them.

Won’t be a bad idea if Waldrum deploys a 5-person, or a 4-person midfield.
Alozie and Plumtre as Wingbacks. It will work. To me, na majorly setpiece gonmake me chose Payne to start over Either of Echegini or Esther. We are Terrible when Payne and Alozie are not standing over our setpieces.

I do not think so. Flourish selfish play holds her down for any selection. I had fielded Ajakaye before Sabastian.
Combine both cafwcl and wafu cup matches and you'll realized Flourish no selfish reach Ajakaye.

Nigerians in particular and Africans in general do not appreciate players with ton of skills. They seem to prefer carpenters to craftsmen.
I tell you. The presence of Esther and Echegini is a breather. Else, na same same from the rest. We often look at them by potential than by the kinetic. Not me! I can't do that again.

ThePresenceWtf:
Flourish selfish? Someone that literally looks for a 1-2 with teammates, or is it the one that always crosses the ball once she's beaten her player/marker instead of cutting inside looking to shoot?

Her videos during the CAF W Champions league and Women's Champions League WAFU Zone B Qualifiers are allover Facebook, where she was creating loads for her teammates and scoring as well..( in the qualifiers)

Perhaps there's another Flourish you're referring to?
Exactly my point. If one watched her at Cafwcl, you'll want her in this current setup. She is a teamplayer with an eye to look for space and a teammate.

This is what I expect of Alozie attacking foray. The way Lucy Bronze goes high up the field because she's covered defensively

Germany deployed Huth at RB once again today against Morocco & it was fun to watch the instructions play out on the field. #FIFAWWC

•Brand (RW) coming narrow & dropping deep
•One of the midfielders slotting as the outside back situationally
•Buhl high and wide on the left
Ordega can never do this. If she must, then they have to relief her of defensive duties, which I don't see. This thing is training. Nobody for nff fit even tell coach say make we play this way small for testing. Na to dey foam for mouth like Ademola upandan.

The extra man system. Confusion for any team wey no sabi. Plus if you employ zonal marking---OYO

excuse is the cover. Just like Grace Chanda illness nonsense. The facial reaction of her teammates shows that she's fit but something happened in that dressing room. What a World Cup this is!!

I don't care what anyone says but I'm very much opposed to Team "let them wait for their time"

We can't even carry the best players of the u17 and u20 world cup like countries that participated in. Yeah, Imuran and Demehin dey but... Forwards?? None!! Well, I'm not pretending we had a selection brouhaha, but we meuve.

Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani: 1:48pm On Jul 25, 2023
Giulia Dragoni become the tenth-youngest footballer in history to play in a World Cup tournament and the sixth-youngest to ever start a match at the World Cup. And Casey Phair is now the youngest player ever to play a World Cup game.

I really need to ask a question, Sabastine this, Ajakaye that… For a start are they better than the ones picked for the World Cup or Are this two young Ladies going to bench Uchenna Kanu, Monday Gift or even Esther Okoronkwo or you guys are talking of just mere inclusion into the team??
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani: 1:58pm On Jul 25, 2023
Sabastine and Ajakaye are very much talented and the possible future of the SuperFalcons attack, but are you trying to say they’re of the same level with Linda Caicedo right now?

Have you guys taken your time to compare their level of play?..

Forget it Linda Caicedo isn’t even playing like an 18yrs baller but someone who’s already in her 20+

Let me not bring in Vicky Lopez here.!

Let's not overestimate our chances yet o.. Australia may be without Sam Kerr, but they're still the better team, plus they have home advantage and maybe officiating advantage..it wouldn't be a good idea to take too much risk, especially given the fact that we aren't known for exceeding expectations. Moreso, ceding that right wing to the Aussies will put Demehin who u have at RCB under immense pressure, and we have seen how she reacts when not under pressure ..
Hmm.. Your points are well noted

It's kinda funny that folks here keep comparing Ajakaye and Flourish to Caicedo. They are worlds apart.

It's like comparing Daniel Daga and Jude Bellingham. Notice this doesn't mean Data doesn't have potentials, it just means he isn't at Jude's level now. Our hope is that those girls develop, but please lets allow them grow.
