My agent sent me a copy of the passport mail request yesterday being 18th July 2023.

I have passed the expected one month time frame usually given for the submission of passport.

Please house, what can I do?

Hi, please I need advice on what to do.

I have submitted passport and other documents to the VAC in Lekki Lagos via DHL and DHL confirmed that it has been delivered since July 13, 2023 but I have not received any confirmation email or tracking number on the status of my passport submission since July 13, 2023. I have sent email to the vfs helpline with no response. I also tried using the tracking number on the bill metrics EICR receipt sent to my email after biometrics but no record found. I sent email to Nairobi immigrations, Nairobi document email and no response too. I paid for the return courier as instructed on the vfs page and put the evidence of payment with the return address in the envelop sent, no delivery or email yet since July 13, 2023 that DHL confirmed that it was delivered.

Please, what can I do!

I applied for two friends last year may to attend a convention in july 2022 but their visas were approved in April 2023 which was more than one year after the convention date but they are currently in Canada since may 2023. So it doesn't affect the approval of ur visa if the date of the conference expires as a result of the wait for them to approve or take a decision on ur application.

Finally, after over a year we received the good news last week!

QQ- my sister’s passport is expiring in Feb 2025. We didn’t think the visa process would take over a year and now she’s looking at a visa validity period of 1.5 years (i.e from now to early 2025).

Would you advise that she renews her passport now so she can get a longer term visa ? Please note that her passport expiry is well over 6 months from now.

Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

The chances of approval is very slim because of the visit visa status in Canada and would most likely score you low on home ties. How would you explain to the US visa officer you don't intend to overstay in the USA since there is no social/economic activity compelling you to return to Canada. More preferably to apply from your home country except you have other status like Students , Work Permit or PR which makes it easier to demonstrate you are currently studying and going for summer break or working and going for few days leave with the intention of coming back to your school or job.
