When I started primary school, there was nothing like kg or nursery.you start from primary 1.

At 11 I was already in jss1.
@16, I was already done with secondary school.

It is not strange, I started at 4 and entered secondary school at 10. Though many of my classmates were 1 yr ahead of me, I wasn’t the only one in my set who entered secondary school at 10 and therefore started at 4. In fact I know of 2 people who entered secondary school at 9.

I didn't find it to be unusual. I entered into secondary school at the age of 10 and I know I wasn't the youngest student in that JSS1 set, I think there was an 8 year old, I know that double promotions were very rampant in the 90s I don't know of that is still the case.

I think some of us many Nigerians from urban areas especially in the south are ignorant of many things, some rural areas don't have access to all these kg 1,2,3 which is nothing less than a way for parents to get some rest while these hyper active 2 year olds are being pre-occupied.

Some of thes rural areas only have limited primary education which means kids start school at 1 once they can walk along with the other kids to school. I was already walking back home from school at primary 4 with a younger kid brother in tow such were the more innocent days even if we lived in a rather more opulent environment there was no fear of kidnapping of unaccompanied minors.

Oh nice, for my area most of us home schooled or went to neighborhood lessons until we were old enough to be admitted to primary schools.

also started primary school at 4 even though I "almost grow bear bear" before I finally enter primary two lol , thanks to my mum that changed my school then I for marry and born pikin for primary two lol.

I clearly remember when my mistress wrote small letter "a" in letter writing on the board and I stood to ask her whether that was a tortoise, I did that intentionally though. She vexed and sent me out of the class when all the pupils burst into laughter. Then I went to call my dad who was a retired police that all the teachers were scared of then and she immediately let me in even before my dad could ask her any question.

All these and many more that I can still remember happened in primary one.

He could just have insisted he got double promotion for some classes. Finishing primary school at 9 is no longer a big deal.

The tale of your hand touching your ear is for the sixties and not even for the mid seventies talk less of eighties when the man was born.
