I just got admission in to NDA I will be truthful I am the only child of my parents. My mother isn't very enlightened, she initially supported me but now she is seriously opposing me.

She is saying she heard of how Nigeria will invade Niger and that some soldiers are deserting because they know they will die... She probably got this news from one pastor she went to visit this evening. She is also giving examples of people that joined the army and later ran away... Bro so many rubbish reasons

She won't even listen when I told her that NDA is a university and that it's students don't take part in combat. She is saying it's a lie that as long as they teach you to shoot one day they will come and carry all of us and send us to die. Just imagine stuffs an illiterate will say. I am so lost right now

If you have a passion for serving in the military and have a confirmed NDA admission, if you're over 18, then you don't need parental consent. Your destiny is in your hands.

I love her. I am only trying to explain the situation clearly because that's what is happening.

I can force my way but I reasoned that I might be the one who is wrong since I am blinded by passion and determination to succeed.

I stand by what I said as a mother she is afraid of losing her only child to needless fightings that we keep witnessing within the country. I know of a highly placed public officer holder(a man) that was sad the day his only son (he has female children too) decided to join the Army. That is a man that has other children & you expect a woman (obviously she hasn’t benefited much or anything from Nigeria) with her only child to happily endorse this.

He has to try harder to convince that woman. Her fears are valid.

@op try harder to convince her. If she finally agrees (trust me it won’t be an easy decision for her) then go to NDA & make her proud.
