Please tell me which nation in the world is not battling with electricity in the world. Smh.

Just like most nations, we are not battling with electricity in the whole spectrum. UK for months now has had most electricity companies folding up and returning their licenses to their regulator Ofgen.Try and read to understand and not be too quick in lamenting.

For years now, we produce more electricity than we need by the time you add all forms of energy we generate and use in all electricity
generators nationwide but electricity is more than generation.

We produce even more electricity than we need but some zones are not investing in such critical sector and for that reason the electricity transmission and distribution is not efficient. Imagine if Anambra had invested the money Mr Obi sank in a beer-making International Breweries plc to prepare ahead for this kind of opportunity.

Just to enact laws for state electricity market, it is just a handful of 3 states ,Kaduna,Edo and Lagos, have state framework for their electricity market yet state legislators of most states can do the job. That's why it's not just to lament and go. Understand the issues and suggest if you have anything to offer.

Also, Nigerians do not want to pay for the true cost of the power generated.

If the Discos and Gencos can't recover cost, where will they find the funds to improve services.

Wale Edun, a ministerial nominee said the 1.6trillion electricity subsidy is not sustainable.

This is where you are not smart at all. You just come online and say any lie that comes to your head. Tinubu is the president, but you are so fixated on Peter Obi. How much is the brewery and it was just investment for a stake in the business. You also failed to tell the whole world that under PO Anambra was exporting vegetable to Europe and Making money. You just come online and say rubbish.
One piece of advice abeg face your freestuff business and stop delving in things you obviously don't have any idea of. And again do your research Anambra already has a framework for electricity. you just come online and say any nonsense just to spread lies.

Someone educate me , say 3000 Mega Watt is generated by a Genco using the Lagos State law would there be any need for transmission.. since the station is present in the local domain away from the reach of the Federal Government and it's law

It depends on where the generation plant is sited. Rather than have 3000MW in one location in Lagos though, for me it'd make sense to have like 6 of 500MW each in different pasts of the state, such as

Ibeju/Lekki -Epe axis to serve Lekki corridor up to Oniru
Eko Atlantic to serve Eko Atlantic and VI
Lagos Island to serve Lagos Island and complement VI, Ikoyi etc
Trade fair complex to serve Festac, Amuwo Odofin, Satellite, Agbara etc
Ikorodu to serve that axis and Ikeja, Ojodu, Ketu, etc
Egbeda to serve the rest of Lagos mainland

The distance from these power plants to the main sub stations serving those areas would be minimal and LASG could take over the TCN transmission infrastructure in the state and link to it.

Any excess can be sent into the grid at an agreed amount to make up any shortfalls in the SW for eg

However, all of this investment means that rates would have to go up to fund the investment and provide positive cash flow for investors.

By implication, only 5 states and literally one geopolitical zone,SW, dominate and can take the opportunity unlocked by the new electricity law signed by President Muhammadu Buhari in May before completing his second term.smh.

Other states and geopolitical zones need to buckle up.Check my signature for free stuffs!

None of those two states has a state electricity market and law in place. Go and read the electricity law, only 3 states were excempted and unfortunately the only state with the state law in SS is Edo yet Edo can not afford transmission. Delta and Rivers can afford but have no state laws in place.
Again, you need to read to understand my point before lamenting. It's a wake up call to your mediocre and somewhat complacent leaders you keep making excuses for.

Stop talking rubbish. Any state can make the law.
Re: Only Five States Can Build Over 100 Km Of Electricity Transmission Lines - EMRC by persius555(m): 12:08pm On Aug 09, 2023
It's the usual excuse to keep the TCN monopoly in place. Let those who can build go ahead and build as much capacity. Those who can't can partner with the TCN until they are able to embark on such.

This will even help TCN to concentrate on smaller state entity while the bigger ones can build their own electrical transmission system.

TCN itself is a burden to Nigeria. Why is it shouldering a burden that is overwhelming. FG is simply afraid that by breaking the monopoly hold on a critical infrastructure like electricity transmission, some states will wield enormous economic power and it'll lose share to these states.

If we're serious about economic growth, this is the way to go.

Gbam. You have said. Even within the states itself. Power transmission should not be concentrated in one strategic location. I love what Edo state is doing with ossiomo and azura power station.
If Edo can mobilize some financial muscle, it's already on the right track, way ahead of the states mentioned above.
This is one area governor obaseki has gotten my pass mark if I'm to grade his administration. Unfortunately, the rest of the state don't value this strategic economic initiative. What they want is bridges and flyovers

How will #1.125bn be used to fix transmission per km, wetin Dem dey install?

I was told by an Engineer in TCN that one transmission tower costs around 75million naira, just to erect the tower.

Then consider transformers for substations, aluminum conductors and and control panels, no be small money o.

For Southeast, we generate our electricity. 70 to 90% of families have generators or solar panels.

If the government can promise us constant electricity, we will sell the generators and contribute to the project as we did to build Sam Mbakwe International Airport through the Appeal Fund.

Yes!
Reason being that electricity generated will still be transmitted over a distance (short/long) before bn stepped down for distribution purposes in most cases!

I understand you. But the cost stated is that of transmission, so, it's not all the components that's involved.
A km won't use more than 3 towers, what is the cost of cables to cover for that 1km?
I fear naija govt price quote ooo, if to sey our govt dey sell air give us, dem go inflate the cost

Guy Egypt don't generate 59,000 megawatts, they only have the capacity
to, there is different between what you have capacity to generate and what you generate on daily basis even Nigeria has capacity to generates over 10,000 mega watts, do your findings properly before coming out here to display your ignorance
jmoore:
5,000
megawatts is more than what 200 million people need?
Egypt generates 59,000
megawatts, selfsufficent and exporting the excess.
