So, that’s why we should buy Harry Kane (a 100m player), after we got ‘Erasmus’ on board and we still have Rashford, Martial and co. I don’t mind squad depth, but not with 50-100m players. The dressing room will never be stable if we bench the expensive back ups.

You are correct, How I wish we can get that kind of Cavani type of Loan. A player approaching his decline on a free who can come in a done some work.

Even though Brighton got 110m for Caicedo, The issue with this deal is.

1. Any player they want to buy now, the price will be very high because that club will know that they have a lot of money now. Look at West ham, they struggled to replace Rice.

2. Players will be demanding release clauses before they sign. Because lower Transfer fees will mean Clubs will be willing to pay more in wages. And players will not want to be held at ramsom anymore

Gift Orban is yet another project player that needs regular minutes to develop so he doesn't fit your description of a player on the decline coming in for free. Plus i don't think he benches anyone in the team if everyone is fit. He might be a decent 3rd choice striker though but i don't even want that for his career. He needs to stay with a small or mid-level club for the next 2-3 years in order to develop his game before he makes a big club move.

we need to get back to the era of proactivity.
we should buy Gift Orban and let him remain with the club on loan. if his development goes as expected, we move him to another loan spell in the EPL. he's someone who could demand big fees in as little as 2 - 3 years.
