The National Parent Teacher Association of Nigeria (NAPTAN) has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene and do everything possible to prevent petrol price from going up further and out of hand.

Mr Adeolu Ogunbanjo, National Deputy President of NAPTAN, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the appeal was coming following an emergency meeting of the association on Monday in Lagos.

Recall that Tinubu, had in his broadcast to the nation in July, said the government was monitoring the effects of the exchange rate and inflation on gasoline prices, promising to intervene if and when necessary.

Oil marketers on Monday projected an imminent price increase due to naira depreciation, against the dollar.

According to the marketers, as long as the dollar keeps rising against the naira in the foreign exchange market, the price of fuel in the country will continue to increase.

However, Ogunbanjo has now called on the president to give a concession rate on the dollar to petroleum importers.

According to him, this will create an enabling environment whereby the current price of fuel in the country will remain the same.

“The removal of the petroleum subsidy we agree, align with it. However, unifying the naira at the same time is what is causing the hardship because anytime the dollar rises, fuel imports rise.

“It is upon this development that we are pleading and seeking for the intervention of our dear president to consider a concessionary rate for fuel importers.

About 60 per cent are parents; September is around the corner, when school fees will be paid, so the Nigerian parents are crying, begging and kneeling for Mr President to hear us.

He should do everything possible to stabilise the fuel price and make the current pump price not higher than what we are buying now, as anything contrary will increase hardship,” he added.

Tinubu was never prepared for governance or office of the president as he campaigned. Quiet sad & unfortunate his managers shielding him from public scrutiny and media interactions or debate didn't help his cause.

Tinubu understanding that he would implement the subsidy removal and free floating the naira soon after inauguration but had no plans to manage the consequences of the these major policy shift paints a scary picture about his future policies.Hence his so called strategic prowess.

Free floating the naira is have led to a catastrophic fall in its economic value while the CBN is just sitting idle as a lame duck clueless. The forex indices were poorly handled by this disastrous government.

Vote wisely, vote wisely...they said he built Lagos from scratch. grin

Unfortunately, God will always allow Nigerians to choose the path they want to follow at every electioneering period. He won't come down from Heaven and force Nigerians to vote the right person.

Tinubu has brought so much shame and disappointment to Nigerians that even his supporters on Nairaland are suffering but trying to smile

Ebola can never give what he does not have

It might be shocking that Tinubu isn’t intentionally being wicked

It might be lack of knowledge and dumbness

Don’t put too much hope on a demented man

Why do they have to beg a seasoned accountant and master strategist to do his work? Jagaban has the midas touch please. He's superb at book-keeping. We just made the mistake of putting him in Aso rock instead of the Abuja national library.

Here is the truth about our nation, Nigeria.

Nigeria is at the edge of collaspe.
God in his infinite mercies and love for Nigeria sends a team OBIDATTI to rescue Nigeria and pull her out of collaspe and bring forth a new Nigeria.

Unfortunately tinubu alongside yakubu and some miscreant politicians and Inec officials conspire to stand in the way of the new Nigeria. They don't mind if the country collaspe.

PODATTI are the vessels ordained by divinity to pull out Nigeria from collaspe.
It is not by their making. The obedient movement is a divine movement orchestrated by divinity to rescue Nigeria.
They are the team to build the ne1 Nigeria

There is nothing good that Tinubu can do or will do. Tinubu is more collaspe, poverty , treekings, hardship and confusion on Nigeria.

Until the OBIDATTI mandate is restored, forget Nigeria. It must be restored.

They are crying now because it's biting them hard....

If there's a rerun of the presidential election tomorrow, majority of them will still vote for eBola because of emilokan mentality.

Sometimes it's hard to feel pity for Nigerians.

Remember how Dave Umahi said his HouseHold members ignored APC, to vote for Peter Obi/LP. 😊🙂

If Tinubu contests Presidential Elections against Obi,
The Domestic staff at his Bourdillion residence will vote Obi. smiley

Beg him from now till infinity, nothing will happen. You simply cannot give what you don't have.

Ebola forcefully grabbed the steering wheel of Nigeria in the name of emilokan, but doesn't know how to drive.

CBN should pump more dollars to the market.

Where are the dollars?

Reserve has declined from $37b at the start of the year to $33b. If you exclude liabilities, we only have $17b net.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-08-14/naira-loses-key-support-after-nigeria-s-fx-reserve-revelations

To be sure, that is with spotty interventions.

If they decide to go all in, they'd run out in no time and then it'd be chaos!

Tinubu has his back against the wall, so I expect him to take your advice. Thankfully, we'd all live long enough to see the results.

I'll give them the benefit of a doubt, but my patience will run out if this fizzles. I have anticipated a major intervention since the float and questioned the CBN's reluctance to tip the scales. Now that they have no moves left, it's time to put up or shut up.

To the "all eyes on judiciary gang"

Just so you know....

The judiciary doing the right thing doesn't mean "declaring your third placed candidate as president"

Why are they begging?

Don't they want to teach the Igbos and other tribes in Nigeria politics? I thought Only obi and his supporters are suffering? Yolubas and Tinubu supporters are jubilating and enjoying the economy
