To buttress your point.... The wife of the gangster is his ex wife younger sister.

You get time sha...
Baddestguyp:
tell me you didn't understand the movie without saying it...

Tyler didn't do it for money. It was a favour to his ex I believe... (Can't really remember)

The man was abusing his wife and even his son knew it but turned a blind eye...

He kept his family locked up and trapped in prison with him in the name of protecting them from his enemies...
That's not the life they want to live...imagine being stuck in a prison because of a man when they should be walking free...

If they stayed with him, it was only a matter of time before he either killed them or caused their death or his enemies killed them...

The extraction was necessary...
His wife wanted a better future for her children instead of becoming criminals/warlords like their father till death

Lol, true, it felt a bit weird watching Tom Cruise in it. Cos it's not the acting style one has grown accustomed to.

Blue Beetle flopped as expected...

The DC brand is almost dead and only a hard reboot can save it but it's gonna take time and serious effort.

Anyways, I watched Blue Beetle yesterday and ngl the critics were right about this one.

This is a good movie. There's a lot of heartfelt moments in this movie, the action is good, the story is okay and it has solid characters.

The Latino cast is great and everybody brings their A game.

This movie is not groundbreaking by any means. It is kinda similar to other superhero flicks you've seen before.

But it is hella fun and very entertaining.
It is a family movie. A very good family movie.

As a matter of fact, I watched this movie in a cinema with about two dozen people and I noticed a family of five all dressed in matching outfits in the room with us.
Everybody had a good time.

Blue Beetle is not a perfect movie.

The first half is a bit above average with exposition left and right and some moments where I thought the movie was starting to loose me.

But the second half is nothing short of spectacular. The movie draws you back in again with very good action scenes and family dynamics that will get you emotional.

Even the villain who was generic and uninteresting at first got a moment to shine in the third act.

Did I mention that this movie has high stakes.
At least 3 or more characters died. I can't get into details cuz 'spoilers'.

Xolo Mariduena shines as the lead. He fits the Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle like a glove.

Blue Beetle has the vibe and feel of the early 2000s superhero films.
If you didn't like those superhero films you watched as a kid I don't think you will enjoy Blue Beetle.

I can't believe I'm saying this but Blue Beetle is way better than The Flash imo.

The third act alone clears everything The Flash tried to do.

I didn't expect it but Blue Beetle is surprisingly good.

My expectations were low and this movie still left me entertained and satisfied.

My rating- 7.5/10

The execs in charge at Warner Bros watched Blue Beetle and The Flash and decided to give The Flash a $150m marketing budget.

A movie with troubled production and a criminal actor that goes around assaulting people and breaking the law.

Blue Beetle deserved better especially as it's the better movie and probably the best thing from DC this year.

The marketing budget this movie got can barely pay my rent in Enugu.

Flopped in what context, because that is such a heavy term to use for a movie that is barely 4 days old.

Seneca is 5/10 for me.
Well even if this is not so great a movies i just like the fact that it touches down on history a little bit in the sense that some kings and rulers of ancient times were too brutal, cruel and wicked.

Thank GOD for modern day civilization and human rights that atleast now powerful people can be held accountable for their actions.

Because looking back at ancient rulerships from Rome to Greece to Britain to Spain to Asia even to Africa, some rulerships were just too inhumane.
Killing people for sports, a ruler or a powerful person can fork your wife and kill you and nobody will do shit, sexual immoralities just like Sodom and Gomorrah, the atrocities of ancient times were too inhumane.

Like i said even though this modern times still ain't perfect but atleast ther is order to some extent but back in ancient times it was chaos only and thank GOD for women and girls, now they have free will to say No but during ancient times, women suffers a lot, most women were literally second class human species.

$43m in it's first weekend means it has failed?? Really? So in this context "The Flash" is a better movie? "Shazam Fury of the Gods" is a better movie?

Maann...Martin Scorsese was right. The obsession with these box office numbers is killing the industry. These numbers might discourage people who hold these obsession, thinking this is a bad movie which infact it's not. Any projections that picture this doing exceedingly better than this at this point is a farce. DC didn't even put much into promoting this till like last 2 weeks or so.

It's not a flop bro your consideration needs reconsideration.
When it finishes it's time in the theaters then we can properly asess it.
Nothing is flopped about the movie yet

I don't know how much they expected it to make by this time.
A new i.p.
Less marketing
A relatively unknown character
It's first installment etc
It was always going to have a kind of slow start.

The upside is that general consensus is that the movie is actually good and that can speak for it in the coming weeks.

Plus the biggest titles of the summer, Barbie and Oppenhemier had thier last weekend on the Big screen this past weekend and there was a mad dash by movie goers to see them one last time on the big screen, Blue Beetle releasing this same weekend and still managed to make almost half it's budget and I'm hearing wafflings like "it flopped" 😩😩.... simply baffling.

I think he's right...No? Box office numbers is not a healthy metrics to measure a film success. Not all movies are destined for box office greatness, doesn't necessarily mean they are bad flicks, if you are familiar with indie genre, you get what I'm saying.

Infact, back before the Oscars went artsy, box office bombs used to regular clear the Awards. "Hugo" (2011) was huge box office bomba, but still genered an impressive 11 Oscar nom, winning 5!.

Box office numbers shouldn't mean much to a true cinephile, and i am not saying movies shouldn't make money, of course they should, it's a business, but it is left for the movie makers and producers to balance it out without tainting the art.

American Pie presents Beta house
Can you believe this? All they did in this movie is fúck, drink, cum, squirt, join frat groups, party, take up challenge. No real plot. Storyline was non existent. No message and to cap it all nudity was the order of the day and girls only there for sex. Who does that?

Add to the fact that the cast of the movie couldn't even market it at all. Because of the strike.
Couple the half @ssed promotion from WB — the marketing budget can't be more than $30-40mn.

Blue Beetle beating Barbie and Oppenheimer for the first time in box office weekend should be considered impressive with all these above odds.

I'm hoping the movie does an ELEMENTAL.
