As Nigerians awaits the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal judgement, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the just concluded presidential elections, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar has taken his legal battle to a United States of America District Court in a bid to unearth and unmask the secrecy surrounding the academic records of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu which was submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The legal landscape has taken a striking turn as the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division, takes center stage in a matter that intertwines Nigerian politics with academic authenticity. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has embarked on a quest to compel Chicago State University (CSU) to release crucial documents linked to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the current President of Nigeria who contested the February 25 Presidential election under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Here is what Nigerians need to know.
Jurisdiction Established: The court proceedings were spurred by a preceding case in Nigeria on November 9, 2022, where Mr. Mike Enahoro-Ebah, a “Human Rights Defender and Public Interest Litigator” in Abuja, Nigeria, took the initiative. His actions set the stage for a legal journey that led H.E Atiku Abubakar to seek jurisdiction from the US court. The United States District Court has determined that it holds jurisdiction over the matter, aligning with US laws that authorize document discovery from individuals or entities residing within its district for foreign proceedings.
Forgery Allegations and Diplomas in Question: At the heart of this matter lie allegations of forgery. Enahoro-Ebah alleged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu presented a forged CSU diploma, dated June 22, 1979, among other inconsistencies, as part of his filing to run for President. H.E Atiku Abubakar’s court papers assert that CSU’s Registrar, Mr. Caleb Westberg responded to a subpoena, providing documents including a CSU diploma dated June 27, 1979. The distinctions between these diplomas, from seals to fonts, raise substantial doubts about their authenticity.
Inconsistencies Unveiled: The documents produced by CSU expose perplexing disparities. While Tinubu claimed to be solely a Nigerian citizen, the CSU documents portray a U.S. citizen named “Bola Tinubu.” Similarly, the birth year conflicts between the CSU records (1954) and Tinubu’s information to INEC (1952) further deepen the intrigue. The divergent narratives even extend to the gender of the individual described in the CSU transcripts.
Educational Background Scrutinized: A spotlight is cast on Tinubu’s educational background. The discrepancy between the CSU documents and Tinubu’s claims of graduating from Government College, Lagos, in 1970 adds another layer of complexity. The inconsistencies challenge the credibility of the information submitted to INEC.
His Excellency Atiku Abubakar’s Application for Document Verification: Building upon these disparities, Atiku’s legal team petitioned the US court for an order to compel CSU to release and authenticate the documents in question. By meeting the statutory criteria and satisfying the court’s requisites, Atiku has positioned himself as an “interested person” to warrant a potential victory.
Anticipated Outcome: The court’s assessment of jurisdiction and compliance with legal norms has paved the way for a potential turning point in this matter. With Atiku fulfilling the necessary criteria and CSU’s status as a public university under Illinois law, the court seems inclined to grant Atiku’s requests, signaling an impending chapter in this unfolding drama.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in a swift reaction has employed the services of a defense attorney in the US to prevent the court from granting Atiku’s request on Chicago State University.
The District Court for the Northern District of Illinois gave a deadline of August 23rd , 2023 for Tinubu to file his arguments on why his records should not be released.
May we not have someone like this Gangster thief as our president.
A man who has no origin...everything about him is secret upon secret. No father,no mother,no state,no brothers,no cousins,no classmates both in America and in Nigeria except in wuruwuru.
I am beginning to believe that Chicago State University are compromising the whole situation, why will Chicago State University keep quiet , they should just come out clean and tell us that the certificate is fake or genuine , go straight to the HOD Or Dean's office and bring out the files . , Tinubu too should show us pictures of him and his classmates let's rest , the Judiciary should also do the needful. On the other hand , Tinubu has removed subsidy , changed service chiefs , appoint some old thieves as ministers , compensate some old thieves , appoint some failures as minister , Nigerians are suffering, no money for transportation, high cost of food , etc
Let's know which one we are , should we suffer for the next 4years

The most pressing issue here is whether the supreme court will man up and prosecute Tinubu for forgery and lying under oath, the issue of forgery will definitely be established against him steming from the expected release of his academic records which of course belonged to one BOLA ABIBAT TINUBU.....female who died years ago!! The question of disqualification by the supreme court will never be contested,.......what we are asking is will he not be charged and jailed for lying under oath? We will keep our fingers crossed.
President of a country obstructing the public from seeing his academic records. He must be having a skeleton in his cupboard. The judiciary must not reduce its judges to mere boot lickers.
What did Atiku want to be very honest? We the pdp had told without number we no send him because he is not our flagbearer he jumped on the ship in dying minutes to destroyed pdp agreement beside we don't want a president who want to sell Nigeria.
Very shameful taking Nigeria election issue to US court is a big slap to our nationality and sivergnty.
that shows how desperate atiku is!he knows his case at the tribunal couldnt be won by just the result of elections!he is looking for disqualification of tinubu!ALL IS FUTILE!!
Can you imagine how these agbaya politicians are ridiculing us among the committee of nations? Why will countries like South Africa take you guys seriously and respect you when your leaders are the ones taking out home affairs to their slave masters and imperialist . Indeed there was a country.

Obi, Atku and kwankwaso should matter of urgency join together to drag this case, I don't have problem with any of them becoming president but as for that Druggie I reject that man, I hate that big eyes thief with passion
One moment, who do realy think this Tinubu is? You think one individual is above the country? If these records are released and it actaully belongs to BOLA ABIBAT TINUBU (f). Atiku will present it to the supreme court cos he has closed his case at the apeal court. The best possible judgement expected from the election petition tribunal is 'RERUN' they will be afraid to disqualify him. All the petitioners know this. But with a clear evidence before the supreme court, your criminal impostor will not even participate in the rerun.
Kusu12: Exercise in futulity, pained and deluded Dubia landlord and Obingo. US Court, laughs in Cameroon.
We are not surprised is only miscreants and misguided people that surpport this criminal and drug trafficker. A criminal will surpport a fellow criminal.
