The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party (LP) under the leadership of Julius Abure has emphasized that Senator Athan Achonu remains the legitimate candidate for the upcoming Imo State governorship election scheduled for November 11. 

The LP NWC dismissed claims that Abure had been removed from his position by the Imo State Court of Appeal, accusing the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) of infiltrating the situation.

The Court of Appeal in Imo State recently upheld the decision of a Federal High Court in Owerri, which dismissed Senator Achonu's appeal due to its incompetence.
