Rivers have their own Gods, you don't just jump into any river you see,there are times of the year when they swallow people

It's quite unfortunate, if u learn how to swim in a pool, don't ever think that makes you qualify to swin in a river, they're quite different. Only someone who learns swimming in an open river with a bit of current can swim very well in a swimming pool.

There is difference between Ògùn(River) and Ògún(god of war/Iron). People curse using Ògún (god of Iron/war) just as they use Sango(god of thunder) not Ògùn (river).

Yoruba is very very tonal: Oko, Igba, Igbo, Ogun, Alaba, Alausa, Osan, etc can mean many many different things.
