larride:Firstly, the only 'bum' he's bought is Antony. Casemiro and Martinez turned out to be really good additions. Malacia has been decent. But he also obviously needs someone like a Rangnick to work on transfers and recruitment. It doesn't make sense that he's been given the full responsibility. Secondly, for a team that used to play counter attacking football, it'll take longer before you see a clear style of play. Compared to what you had with Pep and City. Ten Hag would be playing beautiful football rn if the job he took over was Bayern's or Barca's. I just wish everyone can remember the feeling before ETH took over. And then realize we're in a far better position and then back the manager. Ten Hag is not Ole or Lampard. We've seen what he can do with Ajax. |

eph12:Ten Hag bought him without thinking all of these through na. Una own dey too much sometimes tbh. |

larride:Cole Palmer is good na. We don't have any young player with his impact save for mallam Garnacho wey him head dey touch |

ChristoBam:I can't see anybody saying we should go toe to toe with city. They just want good football Maybe you are seeing things. |

ChristoBam:Inasmuch as I don't like Mount because he's an ex Chelsea player, plus he's an English player (Call me old fashioned, but I love finesse/technique with players, it almost always ensures that they can get away from 1v1 situations) and I don't see the purpose for his signing. I hope he fits in well with ETH's project and becomes what we and the manager expect from him. So, unless he flips heavily after two seasons before I go call for him transfer ![]() |

Trevor012:Good news being that Newcastle or Man City can take out one of the bigger threats in themselves for us. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by larride(m): 7:22am On Aug 31, 2023 |
ChristoBam:Ole was a counter attacking team, please what's the difference between transitional and counter attacking team? His buys were meant to upgrade us, not to be "decent". Case had a decent season last year but his legs are looking worn out already which means 60m down the drain in just 1yr. Malacia is also not a reliable LB for a team that intends to build a world class team. The less said about Antony the better. Jury out on Mason Mount. The only player he has bought that has shown potentials is Martinez. I don't even want to talk about Weghorst. The club had a plan in keeping Ragnick but ETH wanted him gone when he knew his own deficieny when it comes to player recruitment (That's if he knows). He will shudder the full blame for the nonsense he has bought. The only thing I'll blame the board for is giving him total power over player transfer that he didn't have in his smaller previous job. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by larride(m): 7:24am On Aug 31, 2023 |
LostMyZeal:I know Cole Palmer is good, I have watched some of his games but just as afrodoc said, what they are buying is potential and hoping he live up to it. He has played 19 games in the premier league (mostly sub) and has just 1 assist. My own issue is how we are selling our own talent and potential for pennies. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by TrebleChamp(m): 8:07am On Aug 31, 2023 |
larride:Why would you or anyone blame the board for giving him control over transfer activities? If the board had said no to his demand, he probably won't have accepted the job. Then this same people blaming the board for giving total control, will still to blame the board for letting us miss out on a world class Manager if they didn't accept his terms. Ten Hag made his demands after taking advice from Van Gaal, it was also his decision not to work with Rangnick, the board acceded to his demands because they wanted him as Manager. All this excuses no follow, he is in control of his team. Let him instill discipline, a good playing style and give us trophy this season. |

ChristoBam:One year later, there are talks that we will need to replace Casemiro as he is no more solid |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 9:42am On Aug 31, 2023 |
ChristoBam:Ten Hag the infallible. He's incapable of making any wrong decision. Well the same ETH has said he's well stacked |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by TrebleChamp(m): 9:57am On Aug 31, 2023 |
larride:Nah, the board did the right thing. Nobody expected Ten Hag to be chasing a particular player all window, without having a backup player on his list. Clubs are probably fleecing United because Ten Hag only want his first choice targets signed, see how he wasted last season window chasing a De Jong that didn't want to join. United agreed a fee with Barcelona, Arnord and Murtough flew to catalonia to try and conclude the deal, yet Ten Hag didn't see it necessary to consider an alternative until window closed. The board has been stupid on many occasions, but agreeing to Ten Hag's terms is not one of them. |

eph12:You obviously don’t know the meaning of scapegoat. You also don’t know when to recognize facts and drop agenda. His last two games showed that Garnacho still need some time before he can become a starter. It doesn’t mean I don’t want him to start always for us. But we need to see more from him (like what that stvpid Eashford did in his last game- he was instrumental to all 3 goals although he played rubbish). And that’s for Garnacho alone. I didn’t say Antony or Rashford doesn’t need to improve too. Stop taking my words out of context because it suits your biases. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 10:25am On Aug 31, 2023 |
Leyqute:Have you seen what Garnacho can do before? If tomorrow he does this thing you're praising Rashford for and Rashford played trash with no end product, will you also say that Rashford does not deserve to start. There's even nothing to talk about Antony, but I'm the one with biases and agenda |

eph12:Dude. Im one of the few people tearing into Rashford for his performance in the last game. I know he could’ve done better and I’ve seen him do better. Im always on PocoLee’s neck for the rubbish football he’s been serving us. Garnacho is a talented player but coming on in the second half when everyone is tired and starting games week in week out are not the same thing. I’d prefer we keep playing him off the bench until he comes good. It seemed as if he could make that leap but it’s now clear it might be too soon. And I’d be one of his biggest fans when he makes the leap. L |

Leyqute:Anyways our striker will make the starting line up soon so Rashford will be deployed on the left |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 11:53am On Aug 31, 2023 |
eph12:And when- or if - Rashford starts misbehaving, Garnacho should be given another chance. I blame ETH for not giving Pellistri more cameo appearances last season. Would’ve done him a world of good. |
