Ten Biggest Cities In Igboland by Noneroone(op):
Ten Biggest and most beautiful cities in Igboland in no particular order.
You may have heard Igboland is landlocked, erosion ravaged etc but nobody tells you Igboland is the most urbanized ethnic homeland not just in Nigeria but in Africa.
Below are the top ten cities in Igboland. I'll start with Aba.

Aba
Aba is a great commercial, industrial, sports and entertainment city. It is one of the best planned cities in Nigeria.

Re: Ten Biggest Cities In Igboland by Noneroone(op):
Enugu
A great historical, administrative, educational and commercial city on a hill.

Re: Ten Biggest Cities In Igboland by Noneroone(op):
Portharcourt
Originally called Igweocha and nicknamed garden city because of its neatness, greenery and fine design, it has now become an oil hub with its numerous environmental shortcomings. Igweocha is still a great industrial, commercial, and entertainment city.

Re: Ten Biggest Cities In Igboland by Noneroone(op):
Onitsha
The largest city along the Niger river, largest built up city in South east geopolitical zone and a great commercial, industrial, religious and entrepreneurial center. A lot of billionaires elsewhere in Nigeria won't stop telling you how they started in onitsha.

Re: Ten Biggest Cities In Igboland by Noneroone(op):
Owerri
The beautiful hospitality, learning, tourism and administrative city.

Re: Ten Biggest Cities In Igboland by Noneroone(op):
Nnewi
This is a great technological, industrial and commercial, as well as sports city. It hosts Nigeria's first and only car manufacturer IVM. Former vice president prof Yomi osibanjo once described it as the "largest industrial cluster in Nigeria"

Re: Ten Biggest Cities In Igboland by Noneroone(op):
Abakaliki
The youngest capital city in Igboland and a great administrative, cultural and learning center. One of the fastest developing capital cities in Nigeria in terms of public infrastructure.

Re: Ten Biggest Cities In Igboland by Noneroone(op):
Asaba
Onitsha's biggest neighbor and a nollywood hub. It is an administrative, hospitality and entertainment city. One of the fastest developing state capitals in Nigeria, despite having not received needed attention as a state capital.

Re: Ten Biggest Cities In Igboland by Noneroone(op):
Awka
A great historical, administrative, learning and hospitality city. One the fastest growing capitals as well, despite state government's failure to coordinate development in line with the master plan.

Re: Ten Biggest Cities In Igboland by Noneroone(op):
Umuahia
An administrative and historical city.

Re: Ten Biggest Cities In Igboland by Noneroone(op):
Quick facts

Enugu was the first Nigerian city to join the 100 most resilient cities.

Onitsha and Aba are among the best planned cities in Nigeria.

Enugu, Portharcourt (and Kaduna) were founded (incorporated) by the British.

Onitsha, Aba and Nnewi are the only prominent cities in Nigeria that are neither oil hubs nor capital cities.

Enugu was incorporated in 1909 and Portharcourt in 1912 mainly as a port to export coal from Enugu.

Onitsha hosts the oldest Anglican diocese in Nigeria, the diocese on the Niger, and the only Catholic basilica in Nigeria, the basilica of the most holy trinity.

...but I think most of the towns in South West are older than these towns you mentioned. You can expect to see old architectural buildings around.

Yes, old architectural buildings but little or no investment in its maintenance. During my student days in Cambridge, I lived in a house built in 1827 and still retaining its old architectural designs but well maintained.

The reason why most SW cities are rusty and dilapidated is due to multi-dimensional poverty. Most of those rusted roofs are obviously leaking yet they can't afford to change them talk less of building large number of decent houses.

Enugu, Onitsha, Aba and P.H are also relatively old cities yet they continue to evolve and develop because the inhabitants are not dirt poor.

You need to check the poverty Index again and see the region with the lowest poverty rate

Nigeria's data is largely unreliable due to politicization of it. However, some things can easily be detected on face value. For instance, you don't need data before detecting that people in Ikoyi are relatively rich. You can see it in the type of houses they live, the cars they drive and their general high living standards. Now, contrast that with places like Mushin, where you can easily observe that the residents are poor. Same way, you can't compare the living standards in Oshogbo or any city in the SW (aside Lagos) to P.H. but you can compare P.H to Owerri or Enugu in terms of living standards.

Poor education is really affecting you guys badly. What has landmass got to do with cities?

Are you aware that the entire SW is about the same size with Niger state. Does it now mean Niger state is more developed?

Meanwhile, Imo State has a bigger GDP than your big-for-nothing Oyo state.
