When it comes to Parties, leave it for Yoruba people. These guys understand this party thing. It's only a Yoruba party you'll attend and as you're just settling down, usher is bringing Samosa, Puff puff and that thing that is shaped like Bermuda triangle for you to start eating. Before you can finish eating the small chops, chi exotic and red wine has been brought for you to drink while you await the main meal. You'll see the celebrant shouting at the people serving food. "Shey ounje ko ti ready fun awon guest mi?! Evin pa won!" She'll now come and apologize to the guests that food will be ready in five minutes. Of course, this food is serve yourself; buffet galore! Amala ati gbegiri, the real party jollof rice, fried rice, chicken sauce, all variety of soups! Of course, the meat you'll be served will be bigger than your destiny. It's only Yoruba people that will serve you one full croaker fish at their parties! But you see my Igbo brothers? You'll attend party with an empty stomach and the celebrant will come to ask you; "Icho helo ko rife?" Oga na food I wan chop nah! I'm not a drunkard! Give me food, for where? You'll be on your 2nd crate of "helo" beer, before food will finally get to you; Crayfish jollof rice and a slice of meat that resembles MTN SIM card.

Lol. I just wonder. If na food be your problem good luck. After party then lapo debt and garri Living in Ibadan made me understand why alot keep getting poorer. You get small money from selling counterfeit land. Next rememberance for someone who died years ago. Sew cloth or anco Buy cow Spend more than half on party Marry a new wife The leftover na for baba ijebu Then back to square zero. This cycle continues And on. It is shameful to go to ones party just for food. Your presence is what matters. That is why in Igbo parties it is a shameful thing to use nylon to collect food and go home. You want to let the world know that food is a problem. Again, in the east you can do party and kill cows and no one will come. There is more to food my brother. But I am not sure you will understand because food is a major project you need to complete in your life |

Pls if the Igbo parties are not to your taste, eat before coming or reject the food when it is brought to you. It is stupidi.ty for one to go beyond his capacity just to please folks. On this Nl,several ppl overtime have come to raise funds for naming ceremony .lol Some of us didn't understand how a sane human would mount unnecessary pressure on himself by begging strangers to fund his baby's "Party". |

Yes your very correct . I noticed this alot in Enugu, Ebonyi and Ibo parties in Lagos. It's terrible . I attended a wedding during NYSC in Enugu and for the first time in my Life I saw meat the size of my finger nail section served with a plate of rice for adult guests . |

Yes I agree. The meat is usually insulting. Like the food was for very small children . |

But many of them use caterers these days so you have some standard . The other issue is the garden egg and local groundnut paste served on each table. Theses days garden egg is expensive so am sure that practice has stopped |

You're right, OP. ![]() Yorubas do know how to throw a party, and a good one. Especially one hosted by a large, extended family in rivalry, LMAOOO. Even me as a Yoruba babe, there are some Yoruba parties I see on TikTok that takes it to a whole new level where you make favourite Yoruba dish by yourself. And so many other stuff that blew my mind. I really couldn't have asked to be of a different ethnicity, abeg. I love being a Yoruba DIE. Nehyooh:There's nothing Indomie generation-y about it. I know him; I grew up watching him. He walks about with 'one hand' or at least pretends to. I'm not sure. It's only a person who didn't watch Yoruba movies as a kid that wouldn't know him, but he was really quite a regular face in many movies. |
