I had planned to save and get a ride to start ehailing, however, with the current state of affairs in our beloved country, it's difficult, if not impossible.

I am currently working on getting a loan with what I have bin able to save so far(a million) to get a ride and kickstart the hustle. N/B: the loan is interest free and confirmed.

I have a major shortcoming: I don't know Lagos routes or landmark at all n I don't understand Yoruba.

Please I dey beg una. Make una sound advice and guidance for my head Wella abeg. Cos if I don't push d savings out for loan naw... savings go turn to expense oo.

Pls guys, respond pls.

It is more than just knowing the roads.

What you need is a mentor. Contact people like cheerful, Pearl, Gilthro, Northbird off the forum. I'm sure they will be glad to help.

As for Yoruba, what do you even need it for?

Rider never deny you when e sup na why ginger still full your body. Continue dodging police for riders

Bro your job is to drive and drop them from A-B nothing concern me if we meet Police for road again. December 2020 fresh from Endsars na so I carry two guys from Luxury Flat to Hillsbay Hotel, we come jam those police for freedom way, na so those guys say make I no stop make I no mind them, say these guys are rogues, say abeg no stop abeg, do whatever you can but dont stop, which kind traffic are they causing at this time, thieves, yenyenyen. (I sensed fear in his voice and this feeling he's hiding his phone somewhere in the car) Na so me sef dey vex for police come use horn disturb come find way move, na so those police chase me with that Dangote motor I no know I was still blowing speed (11pm) at the traffic light at Idado that was where they blocked me.
I was thinking it's because I didn't stop at the traffic light at Jakande, I no know say na those guys chase me from freedom way up to that point. Na so police first collect my key, those boys don come down immediately, na so one begin shout for me why you no stop, (thinking it's traffic light offense) till those police told us what we did.
Omo na so those guys deny me flat say they thought I was a kidnapper as I no stop for police, they were even begging me to stop but kept calm because they're two so I can't possibly harm two of them. They were untop of their voice even accusing me more than the police. They drove my car to Ilasan police station that night I didn't know how they settle with those guys. 2 full days I was still begging and doing mabinu Daddy. Na 40k with plenty abeg and technicalities I use bail my car.

Now impatient and customer trust/satisfaction has caused me 2 days of work in December o and 40k with plenty transport to and fro Ilasan from my house. The riders I no know them, till today I no near nothing from them. If I had lose my car, na Sara, if those police had shot at me that night, na Sara.

Bro, no let anything join you with police because of rider o. That Airport police station from int'l to local, I don enter there because of rider 3 times, 2nd experience, my technicalities almost made them lock me up where I dey help rider negotiate.

Just drive them to their destination and collect money and move. No love lost.

If I start sharing my past experiences with police vs rider's checkpoint una go say I no get heart so make I just dey observe.

If you like carry Ferrari make police carry their kekebu Hilux, na time dem go catch you...

The day I shouted at one honourable I used to carry... He stopped calling me to come take him out... My car no get siren, I no get police excort, mopol no dey inside my car with one hand out if window to stop any car that wants to enter my front yet you want me to driver like a power bike? Oga dey use your siren waka abeg me and police no be mate.

If you have a rider on your car and police stops you abeg stop, don't given it a 2nd thought

So I carried this girl from Iponri to Rita Lori hotel, Iganmu.

When we got there, the girl said she can't make transfer and doesn't have cash either, that we should withdraw at POS.

When we got to POS, she said that she forgot her ATM card in her hotel room. That I should allow her go upstairs to get it.

I told her that she has to drop her bag in the car before leaving. After much argument, she dropped the bag and went inside to get the card.

I just looked into the bag and saw something pinky staring at me. Being a bad guy and the place I was, I decided to take a second look and lo and behold, there before me is an artificial DICk grin

Wat is new there? Oga come finish your story?

Did she returned with her card or not?

"outside" is not smiling at all...I felt so unhappy today, got me brooding for a while....A week ago I put up a request here that I need a Corolla, 2003-2006....Our budget was actually between 3.7-3.8...
Today, I decided to enter market, thinking that the guys have been using are not effective enough..I Waka round Lagos, almost finish 10k fuel ....Brethren, the cheapest Corolla I got was 4.6 million....Fear catch me, I don't know things has really gotten that bad....For a 19 year old vehicle....A dealer presented a 2006 for 5.5 million, very clean, after so much bargaining he said he will take 5.1.
I was just angry with myself, with the country, with everything...Person con be like failure again...This country don finish o walai...
On a second thought, all this 1k trip no suppose dey again, even if na 2 second trip.....Maintain your car, you may never be able to afford another one, with this Hussle abi na where Uber man was see 5 million.....HP on a toks now go be like how much again ...I just weak honestly..

You c? If somebody had charged you 50/100k to get you something that suits your budget say 3.8m or 4m max would you have appreciated him/her? Wouldn't you say paid him for doing his job?
Worse case would have been that, I connived with the dealership to jackup the price... No one would ever believed even if the dealership presents his statement of account to proof he didn't send any money to me afterwards.

Have you tried checking Jiji. Have been seeing clean cars there at reasonable prices. Though you still need to check with your mechanic.

Also, why not try other brands aside Corolla.

Most prices on jiji are just there to lure you in. When you see the car, they tell you the real price.

In cases where they put the actual "reasonable" price, you find out that the cars are dead and carefully packaged to sell to an unsuspecting victim.

Ooooh... Guy!!! Stop nawwwwhhh.... Must you say everything you know?

Not sustainable.

The BDCs will likely mop up the dollars, hoard it and make it scarce again, then we are all back to square one.

The only solution is to export more than we import and attract foreign investors.

If only you know the dependant the naira has over the dollar you'd known the naira has a long walk to do.

Do.you know the amount of FX parents send out on a weekly basis to their kids for upkeep, school fees, rent and all that?
Do you know the amount of FX we spend on medicals abroad? Lets not even talk about money laundry... Sir, leave newspaper headlines... Those guys are just distracting most Nigerians

Ahhhh...that owing aspect when u become regular customer is Inevitable. One client is still owing me 60k for a 3-day trip to Ondo since 2019. Another thing is some people, once u allow them owe u, that relationship has ended, two things will happen; either they will not call u again meanwhile they will still be doing the trips o or dey will vex and quarel because u demanded for your money.

Then you're not a good business man.

I don't mix business with familiarity.

Bro no matter how close we are, you hire me for a full day job you already know my policy. 25% should be paid 12/24hrs ahead... Balance immediately after drop off if not I pack my car in front of your gate and leave with my keys. By the time you neighbors won enter compound you go credit me aza.

I don't take shit!

Why would I carry you without getting my money?

I've a lot of CEOs till date who still call me for offlines, some of them if I'm not available they don't call Uber, they rather wait or postpone their movement.
Never a time have anyone own me a dime.

I stylishly dumb one some 4-6months now, I usually carry their daughter to Convennanant University... Rich men with their policy... Each time I'll have to drive empty from AE to Marina to pick either his wife/hubby and daughter to drop off or pick up daughter at Ota, Canaan land. After the fuel increase they still didn't want to increase the regular fee (30k), I understand it's not easy but she na me e easy for ni?
I stopped using ac... I always come up with one or 2 excuses to why the ac is not working.
We have known for over 4yrs... From carrying their son to Caleb in Ikorodu to NYSC- Ibadan... Customer turned family.

But I'd to pull the plug after the current fuel hike... How I win take charge my papa?
Felicity we are going to drop off Eniola next week ooh... How much is our bill this time that fuel is up now?
Ah!!! Daddy grin my car is very very bad ooh
Okay call me when the car is okay, or do you want some loan to fix it?
No Sir, it's already at the mechanics.

Almost 6 months car still dey mechanics grin

You can have money and have bad health, that not wealth.
You can have money and one of your kids is giving you restless mind, that's not wealth... Wealth is peace of mind.

It's not all about money per say.

My humble advice, don't resign your job to do uber. Better you do both instead.

The good thing about a career is you can grow it rapidly if you are deliberate. I started my career in a consulting firm where people started started with 6 digits monthly as trainees and within 6-8 years most moved to 7 digits a month by honing their skills and seeking greater renumeration in the industry. Agressively pursue self development and seek growth opportunities.

Ride hailing may pay more now but may not give you such growth opportunities. Also, very little transferable skill should you decide to quit it in future.

You right bro, he should do Uber as side hustle to augment his income, full-time driving will deny him self development and acquisition of skills needed for growth and greater opportunities to become financially stable in future. Driving 247 might make someone redundant and useless if there is no time management.

Most Uber drivers don't have any knowledge or skills on how to earn a decent living through other means except by driving.

What a secondment! Ur submission is brutish and glaringly true....lol.
But wait oo, Uber drivers should be saving and planning to lunch business na ...no b to go work for person again.

Just as u second the advice of "Advision", I have bin highly thinking of how to manipulate my time at work and couple with the riding. The nature of my work is morning till 6pm.
*I have to increase my income * m getting a vehicle on a loan * I will have to service the loan(at most monthly basis). * I have to service my family.
Bringing this puzzle together have bin mentally sapping.

Use Bolt and Rider, occasionally indriver(riders never plenty for the app).
NB: No get high expectations because this hustle for Abuja no gel like that. No use the dashboard of Lagos dey reason Abuja oh! Pricing in Lagos is miles ahead of Abuja.

I told you it's not that profitable anymore. Yes, bolt has better price( far better in Lagos) but there commission is still about 22.5%. Then factor in 617 per litre of fuel. How much will be your take home? How do you fix major repairs when they occur?
Well, just do what's best for you because me I don dey activate what's best for me.
